Ascending Madness
You’re tripping and loving it …
… until the skulls showed up.
Ascending Madness is a twin shooter that’ll challenge your arcade skills. As you play, you’ll find a variety of psychodelic enemies while fighting them off with cool weapons and equipping with rune power ups.
But it is much more than that. Immediately, you’ll be thrown into Merrick’s story that’ll leave you asking “What is happening? What happened? Where am I (Merrick)?” As you explore, you’ll meet other characters (if you can call them that) who will fill in the details and then confuse you more … or perhaps it is just the madness talking?

Mandala
Mandala in the eastern languages means circle and they are geometric shapes inspired by nature and the world surrounding us. They unfurl from a center and spread out towards the edges, in the direction of infinity. Drawing and coloring a mandala has been a meditative activity since a long time. It lets one explore themselves through an interesting choice of shades which represent a creative stimulation.
Mandala brings forth this experience in a videogame.
Game experience
The game’s rhythm is not hectic, but it requires concentration and reflexes nonetheless: the mandala shoots slow and numerous bullets which move in a rotating fashion. The complex patterns are hard to predict and feel hypnotic. The colors and the music help creating a strong sense of immersion, aided by a steady gameplay rhythm.
Customization
The mandala’s customization is essential: you can choose between various drawings, styles, brushes, tones, themes and music that influence both gameplay and aesthetics. Each game is unique and Mandala gives you total creative freedom.
A linking story
Thin, yet enduring threads link every mandala to each other… like true friendship. Discover the story of Camilla through the pages of a diary; unveil her story by completing all the mandalas in the book.
The editor and social media
When you complete a mandala, it is possible to view your score and be rewarded with various marks, depending on how well you played. There is also an editor in which you can customize the output of your game, export the image in .png format and share it both on social media and online leaderboards.
Main features
-
Immersive, hypnotic gameplay
-
8 mandalas to color with a pastel-styled book
-
32 colors and 8 brushes to unleash your creativity
-
In-game editor for sharing your inspiration on social media

Afterworld King
Lucky me had the dubious honour of writing the first review for Afterworld King.
Afterworld King is another GameMaker Studio asset flip from serial copy+paste infringers, GreatHopeStudio. All these guys do is rip off game templates and projects from the Yoyogames/GameMaker Studio store, change the name and a few cosmetic details, and try to scam people into paying for someone else’s work on Steam. They have run asset flip scams dozens of times, and this is no exception. It’s nothing but a cash grab.

Carebotz
This game is a breath of fresh air to me mainly because of its controls. It’s been a long time since I’ve played something similar and while flying around needed a little time for me to get used to, it was fun to learn and after I got used to it, became second nature.
At first you only have a traditional fast-firing but low-damage weapon, but trust me, it’s worth progressing - you’ll have a whole arsenal of weapons to choose from before you know it, and prioritize according to your situation and preferences. When you master it, you can even figure out some tricky combos that are satisfying to pull off, such as when using the boost jump and the rocket in quick succession, it’ll fly quicker than the minigun pellets. Deciding on which upgrades to spend your currencies on is a fun way to customize your things.

Surprisingly entertaining.
I play with keyboard and it is a little clunky but the fights are very enjoyable even without controller.
The story-bits do not make too much sense, the thrill of toip-down-asteroid/souls-likey fights and traps, the great music and the stylish/functional graphics make this game a worthy one.
Should be a great purchase eveb with the full price tag.
(I got 25% off)
I had 2 minor issues with the game, a tiny bug of missing text and a clear way to see which part of my ship is forward.

Evil Buster
I thought that was was quite a cool quirky little game - decent movement, pretty good graphics considering it’s pixel arty type. Music is not bad and the levels are progressively more difficult. The AI for the zombies and baddies is not the best, they could easily swamp you once your weapon is cooling down,. but they ain’t that bright………………
So for the price I thought ok, not bad, a little pricey but hey.
Now the bad stuff, firstly you get to World 3 Stage 9 and you are stuck in a wall and cannot move, ok - even worse there is no way to reset the game if you wanted to start over - no save files anywhere - nothing - so now I am stuck on level 9 - can not even go back and play lower levels - was going to showcase the game on YT but not now, as I cannot start a fresh game. Also the achievements don’t work. Sad Sad Sad - so until they fix the ‘new game’ and the stuck in the wall issue, then don’t waste your money or your time - Sorry Imperium Game I liked the game up until those previous points

Absolutely Sensational Experience. Unfortunately World 3 Level 9 Spawn is broken and you spawn in the walls and are unable to move

Swarmlake
This is a very frustrating game. Within 20 minutes of buying the game, I had achieved a high score of over 2,300, and I had learned a couple of techniques which allow me to survive the chaos for quite some time. But after achieving the 2,300 score, it feels like the game isn’t giving me correct scores any more. I’m surviving for even longer now than I did before. I’m finding more of the red/pink explosive bombs which clear nearby enemies. I regularly double back and circle around at ground level to pick up all the green shards to increase my score. And yet after a game lasting a few minutes, the game claims I have only scored “234” or “512”. Absolutely nowhere near the scores I was getting earlier.

UPDATE: 12/30/2018 THE JUMPENING
Shotgun blast?! Pfffft what shotgun blast?! If you were using that ol' thing for anything other than jumping I pity you. Seems Dom realized that and now there’s a jump button and the shotgun blast has been removed completely. You no longer have to aim at the ground or the pink bubbles to jump off them and your shots no longer richochet off the ground. This is much better, game seems to be much faster as far as the swarms spawn rate and it feels you get rewarded for riskier tactics. You could get pretty far in the past by just strafing diagonally and mainintaining as much vertical velocity as possible. Now the Triangle pyramid enemies that fly in straight lines spawn in these massive vertical towers so that tactic doesn’t seem to work too well any more.

ARMORED HEAD
This game was my go in blind purchase of the week. It is so cheap and the content that it delivers is well worth the asking price. I am having a lot of fun with this frantic arena FPS. You get to double jump, bullet time slo-mo kill vast swathes of tin robot armies which come in a variety of fun shapes and sizes. You get an arsenal of 9 guns, some of which you can dual-wield and all of which have weight and a distinct feel to them. Once you are done working out all the little secrets the game has to offer and self-tutor yourself in the primary and secondary functions of each gun and survive all 30 waves and boss fights, you then get a little something extra. Don’t want to spoil anything, you will have to get there yourself. Bear in mind that the game MUST BE BEATEN IN ONE SITTING. But there are 3 checkpoints along the way which you can start from when you inevitably die on your run.

Armored Head is a fluid, fun and well-realized indie shooter developed solely by Egor Rezenov in Unity. Taking the role of a gladiator bot, you have to prove your worth against waves of opponents consisting of various bots. It is clear that Egor took his time to polish both the aesthetic and mechanic sides of his game, thus Armored Head provides around three hours of enjoyment for those interested in the genre.
Even though it is a wave-based shooter that takes place in a single arena designed for the purpose, it does not go on forever. The goal is to survive for 30 rounds and face the final boss, after which you are granted a prize and are free to explore or leave the premises. The arsenal for the task at hand consists of ten weapons which are presented to you gradually at the start of specific waves. You collect coins throughout the game which are either dropped by defeated opponents or found within the boxes scattered around, then use them at your will to unlock various helpful features of the arena. While most of the opponents are melee-only fighters of varying size and strength, there are also ranged shooters, fliers and droppers, as well unique bosses. Your abilities extend to dodge-jumping, double-jumping and slowing the action down for a brief amount of time; but further collecting in the form of pills is required to gain the necessary energy for utilizing them.

Monument
Maybe my judgement is affected by playing too many terrible raycast engine maker games lately, but I don’t think this game deserves all the flack it’s getting in the reviews section here. Yes, it has problems, but for the price (especially on sale) it’s a decent classic Quake-wannabe FPS shooter.
The Good:
-
classic Quake-style gameplay (though not nearly as good as Quake itself obviously)
-
no ammo cap for any of the guns, unless it’s 999 or something which I’ve never reached
-
no weapon reloading, though some guns have recoil that gets worse the longer you hold down the fire button which is fine

Aesthetic Arena
This game is just art.
The developers manage to encapsulate this by grinding my RTX 2080TI into dust with stunning 4k graphics which sadly cause my pc to run the game at -14 FPS. I am sure this could be a lack of NVIDIA driver support for this stunning game. I hope to save up £40,000 to buy a nasa super computer in the hopes I can run a stable 30 fps.
