War Of Freedom

Great start.

The mechanics seem well done.

Haven’t played too long but the open world shows great promise and looks good.

Keep up the good work.

THIS SHOWS US THE CHARACTER OF THIS DEVELOPER ALL BY ITSELF AND IT SHOULD GIVE YOU ALL THE REASON YOU NEED TO PASS ON BUYING THIS GAME.

Era of Survival will give you an hour or two of fun before the boredom inevitably sets in. The game fails mostly in that it ignores the lessons of other survival games. Almost everything you craft takes a minimum of 30 seconds. It also takes an absolute ton of resources. An example is one stone arrow takes something like 35 wood and 10 stone…for one! It also takes 30 seconds real time to make it. If you want to make a bow and 20 arrows, it will take 30 minutes. This is the same with everything. A wood door takes over 100 wood, a single piece of roofing 200. I think both of those items took a full minute each to build.

Mail delivery with obstacles

Quite delightful skill game like slingshot golf. Your goal is to deliver small envelops from the big white paper surface into the red mailbox in 60 more or less challenging levels. Many obstacles are implemented like walls, switches, teleports and moving platforms and even the mailbox is spinning. Somestimes the gameplay is pure RNG (because of insanely bouncing letterl), sometimes you have to trial and error. But altogether it’s a whole bunch of fun. Like the appealing music loop.

Awful. The story felt both rushed and railroaded. You go from squire to mixing with nobles, but so quickly it strains credibility.

The same speed makes it so you can’t develop relationships effectively (particularly as choices you might be intrigued to befriend can be dead-set against your goals with no opportunity to win them over).

I tried to play to my strengths, developing stats I liked (in particular illusion and healing, class, and ambition). But I was punished for this. The game rewards you if you play as the author expects/intends you to play it. On most CoG you can find some kind of winning combination through a variety of means. I didn’t come away from my playthrough feeling that it was possible to win with the kind of play style I preferred.

I liked this game a lot, i like how magic could be developed by your feelings, not always having to cast spells. I will agree with the other review tho. It does seem really fast and rushed toward the end. I played a few times, and plan on playing again later, but i feel like after chapter 8, the rest of the game goes to fast, so i wish it was longer at that point. However i like the game, and characters and i would be more than willing to play this again. This is one i liked enough, to replay right after beating it, not something i do for all of them.

Short but mostly alright defense game

Every now and then I give a shot for a game that looks pretty bad for some reason. For this one, it was very plain looking achievements: each of them just “shoot X arrows”. The defending archer shoots them automatically. In other words, you get them by passing time in the game.

So I expected this to be bad. It was okay instead! For a €0.50 it’s just barely recommendable if you want a silly casual game and some achievements.

Riddle of the Sphinx™ The Awakening (Enhanced Edition)

Riddle of the Sphinx™ The Awakening (Enhanced Edition)

OVERALL RATING 9.5 / 10.

It took me around 20 hours to finally complete ROTS Enhanced, and I must say it was well worth the price (I’m including the DNCs I also purchased in my opinions: Night Exploration DLC and the Dead Ends/Hints DLC).

First, the DLCs I purchased:

-The Dead Ends (Hints) DLC helped a LOT along the way, when I needed it, which was once in a while. None of the “puzzles” were, to me, illogical…so with some help and nudging I was able to complete everything. There are a LOT of different areas in the game and thus a lot to cover, which the DLC does well. I also appreciated the way the Dead Ends DLC was structured: either hints OR direct solving ,depending on which area/node you were visiting during the game. Player’s choice, and the entire DLC was easily integrated into the game: right click during the game, then click on a menu icon, taking you to the menu where the Hints DLC resides, without quitting out of the game, per se.

Riddle of the Sphinx is a point and click adventure game that was released in 2000. Recently, it has been “remastered” and updated to run on the latest systems. I was very excited to hear that this game was coming to steam and even more excited to hear that the game was being updated. I remember playing this game back when it was first released and I recall loving it then. I was looking forward to reliving fond memories of an awesome game that combined two loves of mine. Puzzles and Ancient Egypt.
