Beast Mode: Night of the Werewolf

Beast Mode: Night of the Werewolf

The world needs more games where you can play as a Werewolf.

Got it on a sale for 98cents and alone the music was worth it. Made me replay the levels multiple times.

For the gameplay: You/werewolf – kill/hippis you cant die and its about time and highscore.

maps look cool and i hope more will be added, because i will play it again.

It’s a simple fun short game where you get to be a werewolf, killing hippies in a chain scoring system through a variety of nonsensical wacky levels. The levels are varied and atmospheric, music is good, but few tracks.

My personal gripes with the game is that the running is slow to start. You are airborne for a ungodly amount of time. Jumping always kills your combo, so it’s useless 90% of the time. I have no idea when jumping would be a smart move to make save for the few need jumps to beat few levels. The controls feel off as you turn and run to get a high score. To top it off getting the achievement “Kill a hillbilly” is unobtainable due to a glitch.

While this is a relatively solid game with a really fascinating game mechanic and pretty stand-up music, it’s challenge, story, and other mechanics are definitely lacking. When first playing, I immediately put the difficulty on hard, just because I like to challenge myself a bit more with games like these, however, instead of an actual “challenge,” I found that the gameplay just becomes incredibly tedious- enemies taking up to ten shots to go down with the pistol, and boss battles that last WAY too long for it to keep my attention, especially the “clown car” of the Carnival Level. The story, while not as important for a game like this, starts out with something that can definitely be built upon, with the protagonist seemingly getting the curse from whoever the person is serving as the first boss, only for that story to go absolutely nowhere. The protagonist doesn’t seem to have any real quest, other than, I guess, getting rid of the curse? But even at the end, there is still little to no indication of this being so in the lab. For other mechanics, I truly wish there was some sort of leveling-up system and hub world, because leveling up would lead to gameplay being far less tedious, and the hub world could lead to more quests, even revisiting some levels, by talking to NPCs like in the beginning of the game with the wizard(?) and even petting the dog.

This is a simple game. It’s not ambicious, inovative or corageous in any form but everything about it works well.

There is nothing BAD about the game. It certainly lacks a special touch that would make us say something like “daaamm, what a game…” but it serves its purpose.

Pixel Art graphics look fine.

Chiptune Soundtrack is really good!

Sound effects I don’t like the most, bu it is a personal opinion.

Controls are responsive and show absolutely no input lag.

It’s a simple platformer with no surprises and I’m recomending it because we see LOTS of titles that try to go this exact way and end up being just BROKEN and BAD.

Really great little beat ‘em up! Starts getting pretty tricky after a while

! and the ending’s pretty lackluster rn, though (But hey: It’s Early Access, everything’s subject to change/improvement)

Definitely worth the $5 and I’m looking forward to seeing how this one develops!

Kukoro: Stream chat games

Been enjoying the game so far. Players beware this is an early access game. So there’s still much room for improvement.

I’d love to see it grow from here as there’s much fun to be had in stream chat games.

So far, some games are much more enjoyable and intuitive than others.

The sniper game seems way too hard for the streamer to win. The ways to scan players are not very clear to me.

Perfect Warrior seems a bit pointless as an endless game. Could use a few extra features to make it more enjoyable (powers, random items,…)

Most of my time is just idling in training, but it’s fun when you can actually get someone to play it with. Most game modes are fun and they definitely need to add more RP ones, they’re the most entertaining.

My biggest issue is that the character art doesn’t really match the backgrounds and I don’t really like it in general. However, they do it really well and there are a ton of fun skins to use.

I think they really need to make the game client more useful for non-streamers and add some more interactivity with it instead of just something that runs in the background while you watch the stream. Having to use a game key to view statuses (werewolf, etc.) is pretty annoying. Also it should be clarified more that you don’t login to the service to play with a streamer. It took me a while to figure out that’s the reason my skins/emotes weren’t updating on the stream.

Retro Classix: Night Slashers

The game itself is amazing, but I can’t recommend this port. I did one full playthrough, and suffered near constant flickering and stuttering, as well as random slowdown. Plus it’s the censored version with the green blood and all that.

Hopefully we get a patch to resolve these issues, but as it stands… it’s a monstrosity.

This is a fun beat ‘em up. It will definitely be a part of my Halloween fun this year.

I played it through entirely and didn’t have any problems at all. However, it seems like lots of people do. I’d suggest trying the nslasher.zip file in MAME 2003 or Final Burn Neo. They worked fine for me in them too.

Monster Showdown

Monster Showdown

So played today for first time after a few updates. First this is NOT the game I purchased, AT ALL. I know it’s early access and I expect some changes in gameplay etc, but this is a completely different game, even a different genre. It went from a dungeon crawler to a serious sam/ COD clone, with no tutorial, no controller explanations and horrible interface. It took me forever to figure out how to reload, I still don’t know how to swap weapons. If you’re going to completely scrap a game and start over (name and all) then just abandon the project and make the new game on it’s own don’t fob it off on early access purchasers.

Review on Rift S

I enjoy this game a lot! I will write down my impression of all game modes.

What was good? What improvements do I like to see?

OVERWORLD/HUB

I really like the idea of being in Heaven/Sky and it is a great upgrade compared to the house. Of course, the best thing is that there is a dog called Brody and you can pet him!!! I wish you can throw a stick or play ball with him in a future update! (JK)

The only thing I don’t like is the placement of the training dummy and the weapons shop. Now you will have the go over the whole map if you want to change/test weapons. But overall I am quite happy with the Hub.
