RagTag

RagTag

A very addictive game that seems straightforward on the surface but opens up lots of strategies once you begin unlocking more pieces with skills and maps that require more planning. The artwork is all beautifully hand-drawn including the cutscenes with a nice coherent story that is narrated. The campaign is fun and knocking the enemy pieces off the board is very satisfying. Earning coins allows you to play more surgical levels in an arcade mode once the story is finished, which is a nice touch.

The Short of it: I’m having a lot of fun with RagTag. Casual, and yet surprisingly strategic/nuanced. Reminds me of playing marbles or curling, but with an apocalyptic setting and visually unique style. Addictive ;)

Reminds me of: If you liked Subbuteo, there’s a good chance you’ll like RagTag.

Roundguard

Roundguard

Full disclosure: I beta tested this game a lot because it’s THAT fun. Day 1 purchase for me.

TL;DR:

  • Peggle + Rogue-like + dungeon crawler

  • Fun, highly addictive gameplay

  • Super charming and endearing aesthetic

  • Delicious mix of adrenaline wrapped in a cocoon of accessible, easy controls

  • Victory music feels like a dance party in your heart

Longer notes:

This game is freaking awesome. I’ve sunk hours into it! It’s so easy to pick up and play. I can get satisfying sessions out of sneaking 15 minutes or going for 1.5 hours straight. It’s Peggle, but with monsters you have to defeat. And you get to use skills mid-turn after you’ve fired your shot. The loot and upgrades are interesting and fun to engage with, and that’s coming from someone who usually thinks of loot management or skill comparison as cumbersome. It’s in the goldilocks zone of loot mechanics.

This is it, folks! The next casual game you’ve been waiting for. It’s like Peggle and Diablo/Torchlight had a baby, and Slay the Spire came over to babysit. It’s a Peggle/rogue-like, but instead of a shiny ball, YOU’RE a “round guard” - a literal spherical hero bouncing your colorful and humorous way through three acts of a dungeon(crawl) to the big baddie at the end. You bounce just like a Peggle ball, but you also smash health and mana potions, level up your hero, upgrade your gear, obtain rare relics, throw on spell-imbued trinkets, and honestly, in general, have a blast! MAN, I love this game! It’s gorgeous, completely replayable, and it has that “just one more round” quality you so desire in a game such as this. I mean, honestly, highlights:

Notebook Artillery

Notebook Artillery

Artillery games were one of the first games I played on a computer back in those antediluvian days of yore. This is a very nice successor to those games. The drawing style reminds me of a friend of mine’s style from high school and the blue-lined notebook paper is a really nice touch. Altogether very much worth the price.

Space Grunts

Pros:

  • +1: Sounds and animations. Howling monsters and thundering explosions make the dungeon crawling feels like a rock show.

  • +1: Secrets and clues. Beware of special walls and containers.

  • +2: Unforgiving combat. It takes me 45 hours to beat the game for the first time. I really enjoys to solve in-game problems one after another.

Cons:

  • -1: Annoying glitches.

    • The mouse pointer moves to the center of the screen every time I start the game. I play the game by keyboard or X-Box controller, so I have to move the mouse pointer out of game window when running in window mode.

Bought it pre-release from the developers website.

I just like rogue-likes (or -lites, or likelikes or whatever floats your boat), and this one is plain fun to play.

Visually it reminds me of Nuclear Throne, only with turn-based movement and combat.

You can move and shoot in the 4 cardinal directions, aiming costs nothing but as soon as you take a step everything else does as well. Deliberately without a skip turn function, it changes smoothly between just going for it and taking another second to ponder about what to do next.

gambling game: win enough one million dollar

You can gamble in the game according to your real life cash, salary, assets, as numbers, until your profit is greater than 1 million U.S. dollars as the biggest goal of the game.

No plot, indie, stand-alone, arcade style, high degree of freedom, set/modify values by yourself.

Welcome to free demo.

I tried my best to design a new type of betting model, which may be the first in the world.

(Please forgive me for saying this, because I hope that my efforts can be recognized and have a corresponding income.)

Run Turn Die

Run Turn Die

Some might complain that this game is too hard, but it can be super addicting for those who like rythm games of any kind. Yes, the graphics are simple, there is no combat, and no story or real point, BUT I think it’s a super fun game to play when you’re in between games. Overall, yes it can be difficult, but really fun.

Dynamic Very, Very, Hard game!!

Dynamic Very, Very, Hard game!!

Apart from being a retro pixel 2D platformer (enough, on it’s own, to validate this games place on a bonfire), this one has problems.

Gameplay isn’t great (these games never scored well even in the 1980’s when they were conceptualised)

This game doesn’t add anything to single screen platformers and has a lot of bugs and almost no polish… you get stuck in absurd places.

I just can’t think of a single redeeming feature for this lazy pixel mess.

Real player with 4.2 hrs in game

I normally write longer reviews but this game does not deserve the time required for one.

The graphics in the game are somewhat cute, and the soundtrack is not quite terrible enough for me to bemoan it - I’ve heard worse, of course the looping does get tedious. Those are the only good things I can say about the game, if in fact they count as good.

The controls and the responsiveness in the game are utter garbage, your little critter just goes with the momentum as if he is a ball bearing, and always jumps at the same height and with the same trajectory. You will die often, not because you make mistakes but because of the choices the developers made. Some games are challenging because the level design is tough, others are challenging because your foes are terrifying, this game is challenging because you’re battling the controls the whole time you play it. Blatant fake difficulty and a pseudo-challenge; your success in the game is not determined by your skill as a player, you’re simply crippled by bad programming and over the top “physics”. And with few redeeming qualities to recommend the game, any player with choices in their library (aka all steam users) is not likely to want to continue playing Dynamic past a few minutes.

Seasonal Soccer

Seasonal Soccer

Great game with a Amiga feel .

In my eyes this game has a lot going for it , game play is smooth and nice , has the old Amiga look wat is a winner :) . if more was added to game this could be a big hit on the retro world of gaming , its in early Early Access so lets see wat is added to this game :)

Real player with 2.3 hrs in game

Seasonal Soccer is an abandoned early access 2D top down retro pixel soccer sports game trying to rip off the Commodore Amiga look and feel (even using an Amiga branded monitor image, possibly without permission).

The game is unfinished and was abandoned soon after launch. There’s no indication the developer had any intention of finishing the game. Yet, somehow, they were able to launch other games afterwards. What does that tell us? They abandoned this deliberately and wilfully, despite making a commitment to gamers to finish the product. That’s abusing early access, for sure.
