DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours
I’m just going to start off by saying I have nothing but praise for this game. With that said I know most STEAM users are going to look at the price point for this and think, “They’ve GOT to be out of their minds!” No they aren’t This game is packed with so much content that I don’t think there’s a single game of its kind that can topple. I’ll even say that you couldn’t even combine 3 or 4 games together to get the amount of content that this game has to offer fans of the genre.
Aesthetically this game brings a simple and clean presentation to the table. The UI for ship combat is clean and simple to understand without too much info bombarding the player while they are struggling to keep their ship from a fiery demise. The 3D models are low in the polygon department, yet beautifully designed. Everything from simple cannon fodder enemies to the enormous bosses look great.

Shmups have always been a part of my gaming career. I was never good at them like all the experts going for high scores and 1CC runs, but I always tried to prove my worth regardless. I also always looked at shmups as a ‘David vs. Goliath’ scenario; a small, one man fighter versus entire fleets and empires. And what better game to start my shmup career on Steam than Dariusburst Chronicle Saviors? Part of Taito’s Darius series and home console / PC version of Dariusburst, there’s a lot of content to go around in this game. After clocking close to 72 hours of play, is the game worth the price tag and separate DLC? Let’s find out.

Antibody
You are the cure.
Sanguon, an otherwordly and newly discovered planet, has found itself the hotbed for a highly infectious alien lifeform. After intercepting a distress call from the surface research colony, you conclude the infection rate will outrun your efforts to contact your fellow humans. It is up to your piloting skills and the peculiar cleansing capabilities of your allied Chonklers to save Sanguon - and indeed the universe - from Viroid assimilation.
Multitask to victory.
Efficiently and continuously reposition your Chonkler companions to impede the rising infection. But stay alert, as your friendly critters are completely defenseless and will need your maneuverability and firepower to keep them safe as increasingly dangerous waves of enemies amass to attack.
Their loss is your gain.
Viroid corruption siphoned by the Chonklers can be converted into power-ups by your ship. Radar improvements? Piercing shot? Do you save up for big upgrades, or do you enjoy a flurry of smaller ones? The choice is yours.
A blast from the past, in the present.
A love letter to shoot ‘em up classics like Gradius, R-Type and Defender. Undeniably gameplay driven and thoroughly indulging in 80’s sci-fi pulp, Antibody is sure to excite arcade enthusiasts.

HOLY COW! Milking Simulator
A cheeky dash game that doesn’t take itself too seriously!
You control a cow that needs to eat grass to produce milk and then run back to the truck to get milked by a machine. Everything is on a time limit so you had better move fast. The goal is to reach at least the bronze objective to successfully complete a level, but you’re eventually forced to go for silver or gold. The reason for this is that there are roadblocks every five stages that require a certain number of medals.
The grass quality affects how fast you’ll get full. The best one that fills you up in seconds is usually locked behind closed fence. Grass also fills up your poop meter, slowing you down. Because it fills up at the same rate as your milk meter, you have to relieve yourself virtually constantly. Poop is both helpful and annoying. Because your cow can’t walk over it, you can find yourself surrounded by so much poop that you can’t move. Fortunately, it can be destroyed by enemies or their projectiles.

RagingBlasters
RagingBlasters is a game that’s very hard to put down, and when you do put it down, you’ll be thinking about how you can beat your score next time you pick it back up. But YOU don’t care about score you say…. That’s what I thought too, but then I got involved in a caravan contest for this game, and now when I play RagingBlasters, I’m always trying to improve my score.
And I’m no shmup expert, I’m very much a beginner/novice of the genre, but the difficulty on normal is so forgiving that it doesn’t take long to build the confidence to tackle the harder difficulties. Besides the awesome scoring mechanics and the accurately tailored difficulties, the graphics of the game, though muted and not as pretty as some other titles from Cave or Toaplan, suit the theme and style of the game beautifully as the game really exudes a 80’s-90’s feel. But just because the game feels like a throwback doesn’t mean the game is slow. Right from the start of stage 1, you’ll be flying your ship at warp speed, decimating waves upon waves of enemies with 5 different weapon power ups, and if you are successful, you might even be lucky enough to survive the creative and very fun boss battles of all 8 stages, all this while rocking out to a fitting soundtrack that’s worth listening too by itself! Oh yeah, there’s even a co-op mode so you can take on the baddies with a friend or compete against others with the online leader boards in the caravan modes (very addicting)!

Introduction
Raging Blasters is a retro vertical shmup inspired by shooting games for the PC Engine and MegaDrive consoles. I’m not familiar with those consoles or with older shmups but it sure looks and feels retro. I was told to play this game’s demo by a friend and to expect a competition before its release. The demo is really good and I found it fun and challenging enough to put in 24 hours playtime in the demo alone.
Gameplay
Like most vertical shmups the playfield is narrow however the side panels are translucent allowing you see beyond the narrow playfield and target enemies in these areas. The background scrolls fast giving the player a sense of speed. There’s just the one ship but you can adjust the speed on the go. You have the basic forward shot but you can alternate it with a wide shot. There are five different subweapons you can pick up.

Rangerdog
Fun little game. I like the fact that it has a checkpoint system to let you enjoy the game yet only losing your score that way you can experience the game and then get better and your own pace! Could definitely see the Parodius inspirations!

I happened to receive this game for free during a key giveaway during Shmup Slam 4 which you should check out if you haven’t. This game is an incredibly well made shmup. It is 7 stages long and each one is actually designed quite well. It gives off huge Parodius vibes which is also awesome. All in all, if I hadn’t received the game for free I definitely would’ve bought it especially for 6 bucks US. If you enjoy shmups at all definitely give this game a shot. I can’t recommend it enough.

Review updated to better reflect the developer’s efforts
RoboPhobik is a decidedly basic overhead shooter with a sprinkling of features found in other genres. You play as one of several characters as you traverse a city populated by robots to rescue other humans and defeat the big boss PAL 9000. While interesting in concept, the execution is not the best and some features are rather basic. I think the best comparison is to certain games from the rogue-lite genre, specifically the indie game Dungeons of Dredmor or like Azure Dreams from the PS1, though this game does not feature the typical feature of losing all–or nearly all–progress when you die.
