Battle Group 2

Battle Group 2

If you love old school type action shooters such as Battleships or 1942 then you’re going to love Battle Group 2 as it combines the best of those, it’s so easy to just pick up and play with no complicated controls or instructions and with minimal setup as well so you’ll be up and playing in a couple of minutes. In fact it’s such a breeze that any fool can play it.

This is strictly a single player game with 30 stages in the campaign and starts off very easy and gets progressively more difficult with each stage that you complete, there are no difficulty options so everyone plays the same game. Each stage is very short and your job is to control a single ship at the start and two ships after your have upgraded to fend off various waves of planes and helicopters which can be shot down with your ships guns or missiles which can also be upgraded at the end of every stage when your scores and rewards are displayed. You control a primary ship which is your main weapon and a support ship which offers backup and there are a total of 8 ships that you can collect and use throughout the game.

Despite the name, there really is not much “navy” involved except the overall setting. What this really is is skeet shooting. You don’t move, you simply mow down defenders before they can reach you, much like the good old “Missile Command” except your perspectives shift a bit: enemies can now come from the sides, top, bottom, even from behind. AND you get a secondary ship with some fancy stuff like missile decoy, escort fighters, and so on. And then there are special abilities such as satellite support (i.e. zap all the missiles or all the enemies at once), then there are the boss fights.

Armada

Really fun game to play with your friends. I’m astonished that the audio was created by someone’s mouth.

The trailer is exactly what the game is. It’s a nice little indie game to play with your friends and mess around on.

The game could use a server list so you can join public servers or a discord where we can find other players.

If you enjoy small indie games to play with your friends, Armada is an exceedingly great choice for such an experience. The game is exactly as it seems, a simple navel combat game. You have a ship, two cannons, a gun, and a sword. There’s no directed objectives, but the game doesn’t have much else than the ships. It is mutiplayer, so just jump in a server and have some fun. A unique feature of this game is the audio design, which seems to be (and is, according to the developer.) someone’s mouth making all of the noises. All in all, this game’s price tag is defiantly worth it if you find yourself with some spare time and you find yourself in a discord call. I hope you enjoy playing this game as much as I do, and I hope to see you in public lobbies!

Waves of Steel

Waves of Steel

TLDR main selling points:

1. A faithful Warship Gunner/ Warship Commander successor

2. Simple-to-use part-based building system, for building your own warship

3. Very easy to mod

4. Fight zany enemies

Now, the rest of the review:

I have been waiting for a VERY long time for any successor of Koei/Microcabin’s Naval Ops: Warship Gunner/ Warship Commander series. Waves of Steel is by far the closest to the original with considerable improvements to the ship design process. Of course, since this is 2021, it also supports modding.

This is a very good game in the vein of the PS2 Naval Ops series, specifically Warship Gunner 2. You design a ship, face off against overwhelming numbers of enemies, and then pick up new techs to build a newer, better ship the next time around. This allows for some experimentation, possibly adding dozens of guns to a ship or removing them all in favor of torpedoes. Additional systems can be added to improve radar range, rate of fire and the like. There’s no single “best” build even if the game gives progressively better options. Between flags, decals and paint jobs, every ship really ends up feeling like it’s yours.

Small and simple co-op but very fun

Real player with 1.4 hrs in game

Small co-op station game.

1 submarine, 2 players, 4 stations (steering, weapons, scanner, smelter), 1 level. essential, this feels like a minimalist version of Catastronauts that is also less exciting. You navigate the deep looking for keycards and scrap metal while fending off laser sharks, and when you enter the enemy base, it turns out they’re in another castle, and the game ends. Mind you, the concept isn’t that bad, and if the devs had put some effort into making a campaign and different enemies, it could be a lot better; but as it is, If you want to do couch co-op, I recommed springing for a better game that has more variety.

This has become one of my go-to games to sit with some friends and just laugh and have fun. There is a little bit of a learning curve with the controls but it isn’t frustrating. The only real frustration you get is when your friends edge you out. I would like to see more game modes in the future; however, what the game currently has is more than enough for some hours of entertainment with friends.

The local multiplayer can support up to 8 friends or bots and is definitely a joy with more people. Simple yet extremely entertaining.

English(i’m not excellent at english): I don’t tried the game for too long,I TOTALLY recommend it to you if you don’t have any friends to play with or if do you have them(in my case I use Parsec to play online),very nice playing singlepayer. Very nice soundtrack and in my opinion the experience is much better with a controller rather than with a keyboard

This game is perfect if you suffer nostalgia from the old times of Rampart. It is a fresh remake of the game in 3D with the same mechanics and modern graphics. local multiplayer is perfect for family game.

This game is really confusing and the description is very misleading and lies.

It’s a game where you make a fort, survive an oncoming wave and then rebuild for a point score and then restart. There are no credits, no AI to do the same thing with you so basically a lonely single player and there is no online forcing you to play pier to pier or online remote play or parsec which i don’t have right now and it looks like it would be fun with friends but needs a little more polish.

Furious Seas

Furious Seas

Very impressive game so far. I recommend it over many VR games out there.

Pros

-Controls are easy to understand and use.

-No motion-sickness and is a game that can be played standing or sitting.

-Graphics are great, I really like the wave effects and sky

-Cannons load at a perfect speed. Any slower or faster and it might make it too difficult or easy.

-Collect items after defeating enemies, some of which are temporary weapons, gold, and health.

-The constant wind, whichever way you are sailing, is good to keep the game moving. If true wind directions were used, many players would be like sitting ducks in the headwind.

Highly recommended, even in its current state it’s in. There’s three chapters to the game where it welcomes you into the first, pits you against a fun ‘Demon Sisters’ run on the second, and an interesting third leaving room for more fun chapters and campaign fun. Even if it’s a demo, it’s great fun with many more things planned for the game. When you boot up the game you’re basically standing at a shipwreck with the wheel, bell, and a firing turret which makes this an interactive menu, something I praise highly. To your right you’ll find your objectives sinking three bosses with a funny skeleton posing next to the chest. The game is interesting in that semi-realistic yet arcade manner where you have to jump between steering, firing both side guns, while even (by choice) raising and lowering the sails with the two bells with 1 on either side of the wheel.

Boat Crew

Boat Crew

Boat Crew

Boat Crew is an action-packed singleplayer game that is all about leading your men to bring out the best in them in the field of battle. You’re given charge of a

PT boat, one of many, in the Pacific, and sent against the Imperial Japanese Navy in the forefront of the Pacific War.

Sometimes through bravery and sometimes through guile, you’ll take on ever stronger enemy forces and come out on top. Manage your people and your resources; beg, borrow, and steal, and equip yourself from a wide variety of tools available to bring your campaign to a victorious conclusion.

Prioritize your acquisitions, make connections, and customize your ship’s capabilities to your taste. Above all else, care for your crew; Experienced sailors are in short supply in the largest naval front in the history of mankind. Sometimes the best option is to live to fight another day.

Key Features

Crew Management: In Boat Crew, you are not the boat herself but her commander, with all the associated responsibilities and privileges. Most tasks will be delegated to your trusty crewmen, and it’s up to you to make sure they’re up to the task.

Jury-Rigged: With distances vast and ships spread thin, you’re afforded a substantial degree of autonomy. Anti-tank guns and light mortars are only some of the weapons you can add to your boat that would be considered unusual, and there is ample room for innovation. The only two rules are, make sure you are still floating, and get the job done!

Tested in Battle: Training teaches a man to keep his head down, but its experience that teaches him when he can start handing out the hurt. Crack troops are far more lethal than green recruits, and will be capable of abilities otherwise unavailable to less experienced crewmen.

Live and Teach: Beyond being good fighters, your veterans also have much to teach to their replacements. Experienced soldiers will set a baseline crew experience and will impart their lethality on any replacements given some time.

Fortunes of War: War has luck of its own, and industrialized total war is a different story entirely. Despite all caution and planning, some of your most trusted members will be lost at some point. It’s up to you and your skills as the commander to find appropriate replacements and train them in time for larger engagements.

Applied Science: Few things inspire innovation as much as war does, and sometimes you may find yourself pressed to be the first to employ a new technology in the field. Following the expansive tech tree will dramatically improve your crew’s combat prowess; just make sure to prioritize appropriately.

Grand Campaign: Fight numerous surface actions that range from night raids and coastal fire support to search and destroy. Your success in these battles will improve your clout and your crew’s experience, increasing the options available to you in future battles and providing more daring operations.

Unearned Bounty

Unearned Bounty

This is a fun multiplayer game, with fast paced battles/matches. The game has so far perfomed well on my resource-humble pc, with no lag/latency/BS emcountered except in one game only! props!

So far this ombination of simple, fun, fast paced action with the ease of picking up matches is what keeps me playing,

Notes:

  • matchmaking: I tried the matchmaking option once, which was also the last time. That was the firt time I played. The timer kept going but I was not connected to any match.

SInce then, I’ve used the custom game option. Custom game presents me with 1 to 4 rooms, along with the player count in each. occasionally I will have to wait 1 to 3 mins ad refresh the list of custom games

This game shows some real promise. At the moment there are a few bugs and not alot of content but the devs seem active and if they can flesh out the objectives in the battle then this could become a really great moba ship brawler. If they can add cross play PS4 / X360 to help with the population then thatd be even better!

Matchmaking has a few issues at the moment, becasue it’s currently based in NA you may not have the best ping, you can get a group of mates together and host a server though if you want to play on local ping, join the Discord too, it’s slowly starting to grow!
