Update: The developer has updated to game to address some of my concerns. That is very cool. ‘Easy Mode’ has been added, which is still very hard.

RE: Unapproachable Controls: Slight turns are now possible, and a fun drifting mechanic has been implemented. This is a big help.

RE: Powerups and road hazards look similar. Helpful icons have been added over power ups that help differentiate them from hazaards.

RE: Death walls. The walls of the arena electrocute you, and cause damage to your car. A front end collision with a wall is basically a death sentence. This is still a frustrating way to end a match.

Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade

Great port with one glaring omission: the lack of 4:3 resolution support. Running the game in full screen on my 4:3 monitor results in letterboxed 16:9, which causes two significant issues:

  1. Darius Gaiden cannot be played in true fullscreen at its native aspect ratio. You can either play in stretched letterboxed 16:9, or in letterboxed-and-pillarboxed 4:3. No matter what, it won’t fill the screen.

  2. Multi-monitor mode for the games that support it cannot be correctly lined up and scaled, because the “seams” of the screens don’t correspond with the monitor resolutions. Stretching the game past the internal boundaries of the game resolution just results in the image being cropped, even though there is screen space there; said screen space is just black. I presume this is also an issue on multi-monitor 16:9 displays.

EDIT: It’s been almost a week and nothing regarding possible issues is coming, kinda scared they aren’t saying anything about it, not recommending until they at least give words for the issues on the port (That is, if M2 stops reposting Senjin Aleste Fanart in their goddamn Twitter…)

The price is quite excessive if they don’t fix these issues (It’s 2021, these issues shouldn’t be there in the first place, no, “M2 is not experienced with PC, that’s why BASIC stuff happened” is not an excuse).

Not a perfect port, but it’s been less than 2 days since it was released.

Project Downfall

Project Downfall

Game is good in general, has correctly designed world that creates quite dense atmosphere, but still when it comes to fighting it gets veeery frustrating. Enemies are truly overpowered, the stamina level is annoying, pick-ups dont always work and you cant immediately crouch after performing a slide thus you cant take cover at the right time. Won battle is satisfying, but you can achieve satisfaction in different ways, than having many powerfull enemies (that can ignore wall collision and go through the wall LOL) just left for the player to be dealt with, i.e. with better balanced and well designed combat which for now is extremly annoying. Sad since it is the main part of the game. And there are goddamn holes in maps. Thus you can fall down just like that and die in the middle of for exmaple: COMBAT. Well, maybe that is why its called Project Downfall…

Edit 2: I’m gonna be updating this soon, so take this with a grain of salt.

I’ve played this game a lot, and it has a lot of good things in it. It is also full of some of the worst game design choices I have ever seen. For example: after the level “Brain Freeze” the player is dropped into a shipping yard full of enemies. The problem is that this level takes place at night meaning that it is absurdly dark so the player can’t see enemy sprites. To make matters worse a third of the enemies have shotguns that can kill the player in one hit and have a reaction time of less than half of second (which is fine in the short indoor levels where trial and error is viable, but we’ll get to why that doesn’t work here) The level takes place outside in a massive shipping dock with multiple alleyways and probably about 15-25 enemies, which the player is forced to kill all of to proceed. This means that you’ll constantly slowly inching around trying to find the enemies your looking for on this bloated map, constantly getting one shot by an enemy in the dark that you literally could not see (at least in the millisecond you have before they shoot you) I would say that this level takes about 1-2 minutes to complete, which might not sound bad until you realize just what kind of game this is: this would be like a 2 minute long super meat boy course or a hotline Miami level where the enemies are all hidden where you somehow can’t see them. What makes this level completely unacceptable in my book is that once you finally, and I mean FINALLY manage to take out all the enemies on the dock (took me about 18 tries and 35 minutes) the level. is repopulated. with boss enemies. that take half a dozen sniper rounds. to down. and one shot the player. And if you die to this, (which you will) you are then forced to start the level ALL OVER AGAIN. this effectively makes the level infinitely longer and frustrating enough to burst a blood vessel, as you have to somehow take out all the enemies on the dock AGAIN only to get another shot at taking out multiple boss enemies at once without dying. I have yet to complete this level or the game because I can honestly only put up with so much. This is only one example, there are many more levels just like this one in the game (“Providence” comes to mind) which means that you’ll be frustrated and miserable throughout.

this is a really nice game with pretty widely varied difficulty settings and all original artwork and music. imo it’s simple, easy to pick up and go, and a lot of fun :3

a lot of the characters are cute and quirky, and there is plenty of solid shoot em up/bullet hell content.

SIT DOWN, PLEASE

SIT DOWN, PLEASE

Game is a 1 out of 10 for the sheer fact it’s broken Video here (once it uploads) w/ time stamps to dialogue outside of the ending you can’t reach and the crashes: https://youtu.be/R_UDuAQKmQE

Disclaimer Unlike the other reviewers so far I actually played the full game (that you can play BEFORE making my review)

The first part of the game has the most redundant mechanic and takes sooooooooo long literally like 5-6 minutes a person to max the juice and you’re literally just managing 2 things. The story is really hard to follow the grammar is a bit off and you’re thrust into the world told A B and C and the story doesn’t really give you enough information about the world to draw you in and feel involved in the plot to be honest. I did enjoy the flashback with the grandpa that was probably the highlight of the game and story. (the story is probably the best part of the game by far). THE WORST PART IS you get all the way to the end and the heart crashes your game. I literally tried so many different ways to beat it the mechanic for even playing the ending is terribly hard because your chain move and your single light up move are on the same key and with the BACK TO BACK TO BACK COMBOS it’s almost impossible to get them without erasing your moves plus the heart heals when you make a mistake, so imagine my surprise when the game crashes after I FINALLY brought him to probably his last phase. Hopefully the crash situation will get fixed for future players. The game would have been a 6 out of 10 if it worked the story was interesting even though it’s not told particularly well told and it tries to do some neat things but the first part of the game drags because of redundancy.

I wasn’t expecting a game like this at first, but it drew me in pretty much immediately. The story is really intriguing and well done, so are the characters and the ending was a nice twist. But the spearhead of this game is the atmosphere, the mood that transmits is really powerful, giving me different emotions, from distress to sadness. In a word: dark.

The only flaw, if you’re looking for a game with fast-paced gameplay, fun and dynamic, this game is not for you. In fact, it’s a bit repetitive, but once you understand that the gameplay is functional to the narrative, a simple device to tell a story, it’s something you can live with easily. In addition, there is also a fast game mode that shortens the timing and does not make you lose anything in terms of plot, a mode that I sincerely recommend to anyone who wants to approach the story giving up a little immersiveness. Basically, a game that you do not see every day and that I fully recommend.

Pro tip: don’t be cheeky like me and remap the blue keys to left hand and red keys to right hand, forcing yourself to reset to default and relearn your entire muscle memory the instant linked notes appear.

The default key layout may look weird but it’s designed that way for a reason (that I failed to understand and then paid the price for).

Muppy The Bunny : The Danger of Wishes

Muppy The Bunny : The Danger of Wishes

Game is still in the early stages but gameplay is quite fun.

Feedback I can give for now:

  • There’s a typo in the controls description (parahcute).

  • Storyline isn’t quite inviting to read, I’d rather skip through (maybe a shorter storyline with more appealing visuals would do the trick)

  • Pressing P to pause the game would be very useful, as well as a menu to control the volume or change controls.

  • After level 5 or 6 there’s a giant monster coming after you and you lose almost all of your hp in a couple of seconds. It would be better to start this as soon as a control is hit, for the player to prepare on how to do this. –- edit: after like 2 times in this level u’ll figure it out so this is pretty noob critic

Real player with 8.9 hrs in game

I don’t think i can put into words how bad this game was, but i’m gonna try anyways. First off this game (to my knowledge) has no save and pause feature, granted it is a short game but the option to quit and come back would be nice. speaking of coming back, since i got the bad ending, to get the good ending i ave to sit through this game through its entirety, which I personally don’t have the willpower for. there are two attacks, both of which suck, the ground attack freezes you entirely, and the air attack puts you into a free-fall state where you cant collect carrots, you don’t die to spikes, and you go through balloons. If there is an enemy above a balloon and it’s too late to glide back to where you jumped from, you are dead. Some of the levels are a visual representation of entropy and chaos and they look like a bad Mario Maker stage. the plot was explained at the beginning and was not further developed throughout the game, so it felt like no progression was being held and the momentum of any story was lost. Speaking of momentum, there is none, moving forward and stopping are the same speed as your fastest speed, which I feel if you are trying to make it like a game from the 90’s you should at least include a core concept that the 80’s got. This game thrusts you into portions that do not explain the gameplay and you just have to figure out itself, many old games would do this, but they came with instruction manuals. The water boss took me about 5 minutes to realize how to beat him since they put you into a room with a boss and no explanation. Anyone who is looking for a fun free game,i would very much not recommend this and I only beat it because I hate myself

A real good follow up to the answer. It adds more complex layers of the button swapping which keep the gameplay fresh and interesting. The soundtrack is a fitting choice again and this time the game is split into many smaller levels instead of one long run which does make for a little bit more manageable obstacle training and also keeps the early stages from becoming boring as you master the easier difficulties. With a bit of insanity and a nice little catch at the end an overall well rounded sequel.
