Convergence Compulsion

Addicting game with simple controls! Works best with a controller. Each round starts off slow but quickly picks up pace until you can’t keep up.

I’ve been playing this game since Alpha and the Steam release version is my favorite. The developer has been responsive with squashing bugs and implementing fixes and design changes.

The game itself is addictive. The concept is simple but there is a lot of depth to obstacle placement and power up usage. I feel like my skill matters more than luck, which is great for a score attack game like this, and every game I play I can see things I can improve to get better. The global leaderboard is a great addition that keeps me hooked trying to get the top spot.

Speed Limit

Speed Limit

Speed Limit is a fun arcade action game, where the perspective of the gameplay and the gameplay style itself changes every 2 levels. It’s framed as what is essentially a non-stop action movie setpiece, where if you die, then the footage is rewound, and you are placed at the last checkpoint. The controls for each gameplay style are very responsive, and the different gameplay styles are all fun to play. I think the Pseudo-3D motorcycle sections are my favorite, because of the sense of speed, and the music during those parts is great. All the pixel art in the game is well done, and very detailed. The death animations and Pseudo-3D effects are of especial note. The sound effects are good, and the music is fast paced and fits the fast gameplay very well. The game is $12CDN, and I think that’s a fair price for what you get. You get the game of course, the artbook which has some really interesting insights and tidbits into the game’s development, as well as the soundtrack. There are quite a few achievements, and some of them are really challenging. It took me roughly 7 hours to 100% the game and get all the achievements. You can tell this game was made with care, and the developers really appreciated the games of the era that the game pays homage to.

“Crash. Test… DUMMY!”

https://youtu.be/mAgB9caZMC0

Here’s The Thing:

You are Bruce Willis but err, due to budget constraints…!! Hmm. Ahhh, you’re a washed-up action star who- no, that ain’t it either… You’re an untrained passenger on your way to going about your hipster life.

Suddenly, some SWAT team and or Secret Servicemen (because come on…) bust in on you and you’re a patsy of some sort!! So, like any reasonable law-abiding citizen, you come into a fully stocked pistol, and thus begins your unwilling joyride of awesome stunts and equally epic on-screen (and off) deaths~

502’s Arcade

502’s Arcade

502’s Arcade is an anthology of fast paced arcade games where your goal is to reach the top of the leaderboards in each one. The games go from a dungeon crawler set in a procedural generated temple where you have to seal spirits, to a cute but challenging puzzle where you have to prepare the orders of a very hectic potions shop. Come and get that good old feeling of competition you got when going to the arcade, or just have fun and challenge yourself by trying to get all the achievements for each game.

  • TIMELESS ACTION - The games are designed to be engaging right from the start, it’s up to you if you want to play for just a few minutes or maybe a few hours!

  • HIGH REPLAYABILITY - Master all of the games at your own pace, some will be easier, some will be harder, but practice will take you far. You’ll also get plenty of achievements to challenge yourself while at it!

  • PAST MEETS PRESENT - Bringing you back to that feeling of being just a few points away of the top score, but now with Daily, Weekly and All time leaderboards, you have a reason to keep coming back to try to best others and yourself.

  • AWESOME SOUNDTRACK - Whether you’re fighting frantically with some aliens or comfortably solving some puzzles, each game has the perfect music for it.

DUNKYPUNG

DUNKYPUNG

This is the kind of game I unwind with in my bed, with my Steam Link and Xbox Controller, until my eyes can’t stay open any longer.

And you get to hear Nathan Meunier say the word “pung” a lot. What’s not to like?

Real player with 19.7 hrs in game

One of the worst hardcore games i’ve ever played. Completely luck-based, specially the last stages. I have some videos that proof how impossible is to escape of some situations, in case anyone is interested. Also, that intenste yellow color is really annoying after a long time playing. The best of this game? His Steam page, at least the dev have some humour.

NERVE

NERVE

As an avid Thumper player, this game checks all of my boxes.

-dark atmosphere

-killer soundtrack, heavy drums

-high speed, high intensity

-high skill ceiling

The game makes use of all of its mechanics, all of the time. So even though you are encouraged to go fast, there are points where you can’t always be turbo-ing. USE THE BRAKES!

Solid game, and I’m only on world 4. 10/10

EDIT:

After completing the game, I have to recommend it even more.

And the devs are receptive to feedback and are improving the game! There were several unfun issues with a few objects and hitboxes, which have been patched, making this an even better speed game.

RUS:

Super Astrovade

Super Astrovade

Super Astrovade is a fast-paced action arcade game where you evade enemies and absorb stardust to unleash a powerful supernova bomb that destroys everything around you. It’s a shoot-em up with no shooting and a bullet hell without bullets. A new take on the SHMUP genre that is more approachable for new-comers. Levels require quick-thinking to avoid enemies instead of strict pattern memorization. Easy to play but hard to master if you want to achieve the best times and ranks.

Features

  • Evade enemies using quick-thinking and reflexes instead of memorizing patterns

  • Short, fast-paced level design to keep the action from getting boring

  • Over 35 levels to master

  • No lives - death doesn’t end the level, but you’ll want to avoid it to earn the best rank possible

Unpossible

Unpossible

A pretty good amount of entertainment for the price. The gameplay is simple in concept but pretty addicting, like most endless reaction games. However, this simplicity makes the game’s shortcomings all the more apparent.

For those starting out, there’s no introduction, but from the discussions it seems the developer tried to incorporate as many possible control schemes for “left” and “right” as possible, so the game should be easy to get into. The mouse can also be used in the menu.

The biggest problem with the game is that the amount of time you have to react to obstacles (if you can see them coming at all) is highly dependent on the path and curvature of the running surface, which seems to be randomized on every play (primarily apparently in the daily levels, as the regular levels have the obstacles randomized as well). This is counter to the game’s claim that dying will always be your fault, because even when you know the course pretty well, you can still die because you couldn’t tell when and where the next obstacle was.

Real player with 5.9 hrs in game

A pretty fun and nice-looking reflex game. It has 3 modes of difficulty: Simplicity, Futile, and Ultra, and every time you play, the stage is more or less random with obstacles placed in a different pattern. You do get some types of obstacles more common in one difficulty than another, but their placement and pattern often varies. Your goal is to last as long as you can.

For each difficulty level you also get a special daily stage. This stage only changes after every 24 hours, so if you’re not a fan of the randomness aspect, you can always play the daily stage and try to memorize your way through it.

Nice twin stick shooter, with different map types. good although short sound track. tries to have rogue lite elements like ship upgrades, and while they are cool, i was able to unlock all of them right away (with the exception of 1 tier3 unlock). it almost feels as if those unlocks should just be like PowerUp drops during the game. but overall so far i have had a #Funtime

Great game; this game gets more and more dynamic as you progress through the levels. It can get quite intense but the relaxing sound-track adds a nice balance. It seems to be well optimized for PC because it runs smooth and takes little storage. My favorite level so far is 10; maneuvering around the asteroids is good fun and makes a great scenery. I look forward to exploring the rest of the levels and arcade mode.

Marble It Up!

Marble It Up!

As someone who played every prior Marble Blast game and collected every version even the rare ones like MarbleBlastX (original xbox). MarbleBlast (original). MarbleBlaster. MarbleBlastXP. Marble Blast Online (standalone beta obtained from beta tester), and more. I have to say that this game is my favourite so far!

If you like Marble Blast, Monkey Ball, Marble Skies, or any other Marble game, this one is by far the best! With workshop support, you can make any level you want with near unlimited possibilities. Multiplayer is coming soon and if it’s as good as Marble Blast Ultra’s multiplayer (which I hear it will have multiple awesome game modes), it’s definitely worth the money.

Real player with 61.0 hrs in game

TL;DR: Marble It Up (MIU) is an amazing marble game, and by far the best Steam has to offer and by far the best marble game I’ve played! Featuring perfect controls, fine-tuned physics, crispy smooth framerates (even on toasters), Steam workshop support with hundreds of extra levels, constant dev attention to players, and an amazing game experience that is fun for the entire family! Well worth the asking price!

Breakdown:

Gameplay: MIU is a marble game like the ones from the good-ol' days of the mid 2000’s. It is made by some of the same devs behind the Marble Blast series, which really shows in the game and brings to life the timeless experience of marble games. I remember loving Marble Blast Gold on the old family PC when I was young, and plugged many hours into it. The experience is flawless here (and some workshop levels are actually ported levels from the Marble Blast series itself!)

Great Indie twin stick shooter, to me has a kind of DOS influence in some aspects which was cool and the game let me play it however I liked. There are some really moreish levels, also feels good when you get your cube set up just right. I feel like the dev put a lot of work into this.

In the vastness of the universe, many things still hold mysteries. You are one of those mysteries, as the guardian of a cube that has floated for eons near the center of the galaxy, rumored to contain knowledge that will allow whoever possesses it the power to rule the universe. It is up to you to protect the cube and the knowledge it holds from all who desire to take it.
