Viper

Note before We begin: While I may not have much on the PC Version of the game I have owned the original PS1 Version of the game since it’s release and will be referring mostly to the PS1 Version for this review

In addition at the time of this writing there is a bug causing the game to crash on the 2nd level without entering the password for it. The developers have confirmed this is being fixed.

Viper…This could be one of the most obscure games in the Playstation’s Library.

If I could summarize Viper I would say it is Star Fox mixed with a Shoot ‘em up. You play as Eddie Crane piloting his craft The Viper as he strikes out against aliens who have covertly invaded Earth…Thats it, Thats the story

So this was an interesting, didn’t expect to see it here of all places and hopefully you’ll find this review helpful:

  1. This is a PS1 game:

I’m not saying this is a port of a PS1 game, this is literally a rip of the disc being run through a PS1 emulator, specifically PCSX-Reloaded, you’d think this would be a negative and it kind of is, but it’s actually very convenient, the build of PCSX-R they use doesn’t have a lot of features and I found it fairly lacking, but hey, you can easily use any other emulator if you want, the game files are right there in the folder! I used Duckstation, which is why it looks like I haven’t played the game for more than a few minutes on steam, it allowed me to upscale the game, run it smoothly and I even used a widescreen hack because why not, it’s super simple to do and I highly recommend it because that’s the fun of PC gaming. That said, I do wish the product page was upfront about it, much of GOG’s runs on Dosbox, emulation is legit, no need to hide it.

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!!

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!!

You’re a skydiving, video-streaming guerilla artist in the floating city of Boston High. Your job is to leap from buildings, cause mischief, and not get caught by the police.

A Grab Bag of Incredible Features

  • Leap from mile-high skyscrapers.

  • Kiss the sides of buildings with your mouth.

  • There’s, like, a parade with giant balloon floats on one level, and you can smack into them, ruining everything, just to be a jerk.

  • Also, there’s a level with a giant 4-story cake that you can topple over hapless spectators.

  • We’re experimenting with a thing where you’re also able to break the city’s wastewater storage systems, but you’d kinda have to be a double jerk to do it.

  • Over 0 levels included in the full game!

  • 0 weapons, unless you count the spray paint you use to tag windows.

  • Unique, challenging, and other meaningless adjectives that every game uses to describe themselves.

  • How many bullet points do you want, buddy?

  • ‘Cause here’s another one.

Did You Know?

  • This is our follow-up to the original, award-winning series.

  • The original is in the Guinness World Records for longest word in a video game title.

  • It also broke Steam because the title was way long.

  • And it won a bunch of awards. Some, for publications and conventions that don’t exist anymore. Ten years is a long time.

Kukoro: Stream chat games

Been enjoying the game so far. Players beware this is an early access game. So there’s still much room for improvement.

I’d love to see it grow from here as there’s much fun to be had in stream chat games.

So far, some games are much more enjoyable and intuitive than others.

The sniper game seems way too hard for the streamer to win. The ways to scan players are not very clear to me.

Perfect Warrior seems a bit pointless as an endless game. Could use a few extra features to make it more enjoyable (powers, random items,…)

Most of my time is just idling in training, but it’s fun when you can actually get someone to play it with. Most game modes are fun and they definitely need to add more RP ones, they’re the most entertaining.

My biggest issue is that the character art doesn’t really match the backgrounds and I don’t really like it in general. However, they do it really well and there are a ton of fun skins to use.

I think they really need to make the game client more useful for non-streamers and add some more interactivity with it instead of just something that runs in the background while you watch the stream. Having to use a game key to view statuses (werewolf, etc.) is pretty annoying. Also it should be clarified more that you don’t login to the service to play with a streamer. It took me a while to figure out that’s the reason my skins/emotes weren’t updating on the stream.

Caromble!

Caromble!

Here’s a new original reinvention of the classic Arkanoid/Breakout game from The Netherlands. It has the paddle, blocks and multiple power ups with plenty of new features to make this more fun and challenging than its predecessors.

Powershot

At any time you can charge up your paddle with your lmb (left mouse button) for one power shot but the catch is you can’t move while charging up. When you release the lmb before you’re fully charged, the paddle’s energy level starts dropping. Once your paddle is fully charged you can let go of the lmb. With a powershot you can make the ball shoot through regular blocks and special blocks that can’t be destroyed with regular shots.

“So much more than a game…..CAROMBLE! IS ART !!!!”

For Christmas, 1973 I was fortunate enough to receive the very first console game system available in America….Odyssey by Magnavox. Though it advertised as having about a dozen games, in reality it was just a dozen forms of PONG with plastic overlays for your TV set to create slightly differing game effects. (Not a criticism…PONG was a great game!) Who would have imagined that over FORTY years later, the most exciting new game I’m playing currently is actually just an unbelievably amazing new version of the original master, PONG…..Caromble!.

Gearshifters

A fantastic arcade shooter!

Pros

-Great gameplay

-Creative enemy/faction variety

-Awesome bosses

-Enjoyable progression

Cons

-Starting a boss fight with half or lower health could be an absolute drag.

-Difficult bosses/sections can have you repeating the same levels far too many times to be enjoyable.

Thoughts

-I feel like the bosses would have been much more enjoyable if you always entered the fight with full health. Perhaps after successfully reaching the boss and dying the amount of levels you have to repeat should only be one instead of two.

This game is Fantastic!

I played the demo before and loved it, so I knew the full game was going to be a treat. I know roguelite is becoming quite a common genre now, but it works perfectly with this game. It is so much fun having to play and earn the upgrades which then in turn make the game that little bit easier each time you play. That for me is the perfect way to get you playing and keep you engaged.

This game is a perfect mix of a classic shoot em up while driving a car and dodging bullets, so a car/shoot em up/bullet hell dodging. There are some great bosses to take down as well which are a lot of fun, working out their patterns and ways to take them down. For me its a perfect mix and it works beautifully!

Its good fun

The car designs are cool

It controls okay, camera can be a little annoying

A race mode with something like 3 laps would have been fun but overall its a fun time. Good bargain bin material

The game is ok, but nothing that will make you keep playing. It’s a sandbox arena with other cars spawning for you to kill. You can beat the game with the first car upgraded, there is no reward to progress further than that. If you want a game easy to beat and get 100% achievements, then this game will be great.

this is a really nice game with pretty widely varied difficulty settings and all original artwork and music. imo it’s simple, easy to pick up and go, and a lot of fun :3

a lot of the characters are cute and quirky, and there is plenty of solid shoot em up/bullet hell content.

Quick but sweet SHMUP with a simple but engaging leveling system in which your Score is your Experience to level up and get bonus stats such as bullet speed or recharge rate.

Took me around 3h to beat with a lot of retries on the last few missions, but there was absolutely no filler, no stages where I actually knew what was going to happen, it was exclusively good content from start to finish.

Might be a bit overpriced for the time you’ll likely spend on it but it’s really fun to replay as levels have are many separate parallel paths to complete.

Real player with 8.6 hrs in game

It’s a nice little shmup.

I love upgrading and having the choice to invest and change my playstyle, it has that. That’s nice.

I like the graphics, the color pallete isnt a rainbow mumbo-jumbo like most titles of this genre and the pixel-art is from the better part of pixel-art, not from the lazy-ugly-Undertale group.

The soundtrack is there, nothing special, it fits the industrial-space theme of the game.

It has some bugs, but they arent gamebreaking nor do they destroy the playthrough.

Dev is friendly, gib him some monies. Have fun.
