DUNKYPUNG

DUNKYPUNG

This is the kind of game I unwind with in my bed, with my Steam Link and Xbox Controller, until my eyes can’t stay open any longer.

And you get to hear Nathan Meunier say the word “pung” a lot. What’s not to like?

One of the worst hardcore games i’ve ever played. Completely luck-based, specially the last stages. I have some videos that proof how impossible is to escape of some situations, in case anyone is interested. Also, that intenste yellow color is really annoying after a long time playing. The best of this game? His Steam page, at least the dev have some humour.

Dear Peggle,

We had been friends for quite a long time before i got to know you really well. We grew up together, we played xbox together. It was fun! But when we started to race that’s when things got serious. You have made me laugh, you have made me cry. Sometimes I wanted to punch you in the head, but I could never do that to you, you were always so nice and fair to me. Even after one-hundred (100) HOURS of playing peggle, I have realized that there is nothing else in this life that is more important than this game. Peggle, without you, I am nothing. I am so thankful you came into my life and I hope that we never have to part ways.

highly recommend. every gamer should play.

EDIT: I have now 100% completed this game, finished a couple of months ago. The story line that goes through the period of time in your life while playing this for the 100% kind of becomes the peggle story line, somehow. I saw myself getting over life hurdles the day after peggle hurdles, not sure how they do that, but when I completed the game, I was suddenly done with school- minus a few ceremonies and tests.

The mechanics of this game are beyond good, the physics simulation lets you make the coolest shots with just basic knowledge of geometry, such as the tangent line approximation formula and implicit differentiation, and makes you feel extremely good when you hit a really good opener that clears half the board in one turn.

Woah Dave!

Woah Dave!

Every criticism I read about the game feels deeply unfair. Look at a game like the original Mario Bros, or Ms. Pac Man, or Centipede or Tetris. Sit there and tell me with a straight face that those are “simple” or that they “lack depth”. It is possible to find brilliance and depth within elegant simplicity; we see that in modern titles like Minecraft and Downwell and Molemen Must Die! just to name a few. And you will find that elegant simplicity here as well.

In the swamp of games that is available in today’s market it could be very easy to dismiss this game quickly as a turd, after seeing it’s admittedly crude graphics. And I could even see a person becoming disenchanted due to the lack of obvious game instructions - it’s left to the player and yet it’s all there to be taken-in and easily deduced if you are observant.

It’s good, but it feels like the endless mode to an awesome game that doesn’t exist.

This is an entry in the “elimination platformer” genre, a genre that has been dead for over a decade. Back in the days of the arcade and early home console, this type of game was one of the supreme rulers, including classics like Bubble Bobble, Balloon Fight, TumblePop, Joust, and Mario Bros., just to name a few.

However, when you think about all those classic games, they always had “waves” or “levels”, but Woah Dave! Just throws you into one long level that progressively gets harder. Eggs and Skulls drop randomly from the sky, and you can throw skulls at eggs to produce coins, or you can let the eggs hatch into monsters. If you leave the monsters alive, they will turn into three progressively harder enemies the longer they are left alive, each which yields more coins when killed. Sometimes a UFO will appear to mess with platforms if it’s not killed fast enough, and sometimes a “Woah block” will appear that can clear the screen of all enemies. And that’s all there is to the game. No special items, no multipliers, no different levels with different platform structures, no surprising new bosses or enemies. Just survive for as long as possible and collect coins for a high score. I feel like a lot of people are going to play this for ten minutes and then forget about it.

Had quite a bit fun playing this game, really like the take on theme and the relative ease you pick it up and put it down. Music and visuals compliment each other well and all round is enjoyable. Very glad that there are so many different takes on levels that make each experience customisable and unique. Would like a community leader board.

Picked this game up for cheap thinking it was going to be meh but was left pleasantly surprised. The music is great, the visuals are awesome and the control scheme is simple but intuitive. I can see myself revisiting this time to time whenever I need to unwind and relax.

Minimalist perfection.

You can only go left, go right, or do nothing at all. That’s all of the options you have.

This game pushes this minimalistic rendition of dodge to the utter maximum.

The game starts out hard and doesn’t get easier, but getting better at the game is incredibly rewarding. Your mistakes are always your own, your high score often just barely out of reach.

The game doesn’t ever let up in terms of ramping difficulty, but also doesn’t get tedious or boring.

You’ll first just have to dodge simple obstacles coming at you, then learn patterns to deal with complex obstacles, while the game just gets faster and faster.

Nice

This game is a ton of fun and I certainly will be returning to it for the foreseeable future. My only gripe with the game play is that the really cool bullet patterns are locked behind a difficult skill wall. I know this may seem like a silly complaint for a bullet hell of all games, but as an only semi-decent player, I become stuck on certain tricky bullet patterns, and then have to restart from the beginning. If there were extra game modes on top of the base game that let you either play around with the other creative bullet types or let you practice certain rituals, I would be ecstatic. Until then, I can only play the game for a few rounds before the preset ritual/bullet order becomes stale (Which is a shame because the game is so beautiful in concept, game play, and all around execution).

Diamo XL

Diamo XL

Diamo XL is yet another fun game from nickervision, definitely worth it

==========

I’ve been looking forward to this game the moment the images used in the description of the steam store page got uploaded on the dev’s account, now the question is: was it worth waiting for?

Positive:

  • the games starts simple and gets progressively harder

  • the main game is really easy to understand, leaving the entire focus game up to you mastering it, which is exactly what this game was striving for

Negative:

Real player with 34.6 hrs in game

Diamo XL is an amazing creation by Nickervision Studios that has kept me enticed for the short period of time that I have owned it, and I presume that it will continue to do so for many more hours to come.

Essentially, Diamo XL is a game in which you try to create the outline of a diamond, moving your ball along the path from line to line. Once you have traced all the outlines you will get more points which are, points. No description needed because I assume that everyone knows what a point is. After you have been moving for a bit, you’ll notice the amount of points you get exponentially increases. This is dependant on the multiplier. You earn a higher multiplier by constantly moving around the diamond and staying alive.

“if your looking for a game about popping pills, then you probably might need help, but this game is really fun arcade score attack and I’d advise considering this game.”

This game is intense, no doubt about it. Its a simple mechanic, of two coloured pills each level. You can switch colours between the two and match to maximise score. Although im not a big fan of dubstep, the music is still impressive and well done, I do like the way the colours compliment eachother and the way the levels ramp up makes the game really hard. The powerups are fun and interesting and overall the game is impressive.

Good game, smart design. tests the player’s speed.

There are times when on the screen there are many objects, challenging.

Possibly it would be a fun game in VR.

On mobile it would be faster and more practical to click on objects on the screen.

Enjoy.
