Alluna and Brie

Alluna and Brie

Pros: Good comedy, interesting story, good characters, decent gameplay.

Cons: Gameplay CAN be repetitive at times, story leans too much on knowledge of prior release, REALLY should have mouse input.

A solid, if slightly flawed, first RPG for the developer. While the gameplay is solid and easy to pick up and play, the interface would really work better in every way if mouse functionality worked. The plot leans heavily on events of the developer’s previous game, Max’s Big Bust, in a way that can cause confusion to any who haven’t played that game.

Alluna and Brie is a game that takes several gaming concepts and mashes them together into one pretty cohesive whole. It’s basically a turn-based RPG-light game with a lot of visual novel elements. It also combines time management themes with some mini-games. The “mermaid spikers” sport is mildly fun (not my cup of joe, but has the potential to be addictive), but the Pokemon Go-like mini-game I have yet to try out. It must seem that having so many different playstyles together in one game is a recipe for disaster, but it seems to work.

I’ll play any time management game… Except maybe for resource one, but this one isn’t it… Anyway! Beach time! First of all, this game doesn’t have resize screen options… I think it was made for a tablet? But it works well on PC.

It starts off slow… So you learn the ropes, etc… There is a time period where you will feel zen like spacing out… UNTIL you get your license! More products? Everything picks up! That’s where the fun began. I managed to get everything unlocked… So proud…

Very nice cooking game.

Repetitive after a while, but at least you learn new recipes.

Seaside Cafe Story

Seaside Cafe Story

I am in love with this game! The mix of 2d, 3d and pixel art is one of the most adorable visuals I have seen in a while :D

Then there´s the combination of time management with budgeting plus juggling different recipes in the menu and that adds to the difficulty that made me struggle for a bit before getting the hang of it (but I´m still almost always broke XD)! The price this game is set at I´d say is more than fair and my kudos to the people that put together this charming game :)

It’s a cute game and I’m having fun with it.

I think certain things could be made clearer to the user though. I failed my first run and almost wrote a negative review based on the experience. It was my fault but I feel like if I had better visual cues I wouldn’t have mad the mistake I did. I spent too much money. I didn’t realise I was buying from the more expensive market cause foolish me thought it would have it’s own tab or something. I was much more aware of the exclamation mark and red numbers second time around.

AL・FINE

AL・FINE

In Short:

An improvement of the business mechanics seen from Recettear.

Long Ver:

Recettear, a Japanese indie darling that focuses on being a merchant, years later we now find a very similar game inspired by Recettear.

In Al Fine, you play as Loius, a young man swindled by a Sprite named Alice to pay back for breaking a supposingly precious ‘gem’.

But there is no giant debt hanging over our heads but in place are the guild taxes which occurs a few times per month and when there is a challenge, you have a few days to upped over your opponent’s profits.

AL・FINE is a mix between Visual Novel / Shop Management. It is a nice game but it’s not quite like Recettear. The VN story is about a boy that destroy a Pixie’s jewel and to pay it back he reopens his parents shop. There is other NPCs present in the story but this game doesn’t have any romance or NPC route.

The main purpose of the Shop is to sell a lot of items and compete with others shops in commerce battles. You have 100 days until the end of the game and 4 commerce battles to win.

Difference between Recettear:

This game was an enjoyable experience, if you can get past the translation(which adds a bit to the charm for me) and it got many laughs from me,

! i couldnt figure out how to date the detective, got the other 4 routes tho well worth the money for me and i do plan to play again to figure out the one thing i missed.

! Also based on looks and a cursory glance at the game i was going to pass on it at first, but then i read timeloop and immediately hopped in, no regrets.
