Icebound

Icebound

Not a bad game, not a great game but pretty good compared to most steam VN in my opinion.

Plenty of choices in the game and different endings..tho a lack of romance options i am happy

that there atleast was one in the game. The puzzle game is not to hard and not to easy, perfect for

me.

Alchemy is more than just a handy skill in the world of Permia. Alchemists are both admired and feared and have the ability to sort out problems and fix what was once broken. With a strong emphasis on character development and world-building, the simple task of discovering a monster that’s been terrorizing a town becomes all the more intricate. It has beautiful art direction, fitting music, and an alchemy mini-game that is placed at just the right parts of the game to leave me refreshed. I couldn’t get enough of Icebound, by Fastermind Games.

Sepia Tears

Sepia Tears

Sepia Tears is one of those free visual novels that really make you feel grateful to the developers and unfortunately there’s no DLC available, otherwise it had deserved for sure 1€!!

Though, I read on the game’s page that it’s a very popular visual novel on Android although it’s indie so I hope it had the visibility and the support it deserved!

It’s the only game from Scarlet String featured on Steam so I really hope that they will make new games like this one and port them on Steam :)

The artwork and the general graphics, just to start with something, are awesome and feature many different styles. It’s clear that the developer put lots of work in designing manga-like characters, detailed backgrounds and cute little cutscenes (you can see some of them in the screenshots!!) :)

This VN is not the easiest one to read - it’s slow-paced, at times confusing and the writing not always hits the mark. The “people don’t talk like that” feeling some more critical reviews mention is very much real, especially in the first few chapters.

Still, later in the game the story really becomes intriguing - information you get let’s you piece things together and slowly uncover the logic behind the main intrigue. Also, as the stakes get higher, the writing starts feeling much more solid and focused. The plot itself is emotionally engaging, while art and music, even if simple, complements it rather well. The ending, although hidden behind a very nasty mechanic (go for the roof first, it’s not a spoiler, it’s a life-saver), is satisfying and to some extent caught me by surprise. My eyes got teary from it, what happens rarely enough to be a recommendation in itself if you’re looking for some feels.

Spring Bonus

Spring Bonus

This is the second casual coffee-break friendly match-3 I’ve played from Grey Alien, and I’m going to say this is an improvement over Holiday Bonus Gold. Besides there being a lot more variety in your screen-to-screen goals (you may have to match a certain number of a particular tiles, allow some unmatchable tiles to drop down the bottom, break some frozen tiles or a combination), the easy access to the Timed mode gives the game a lot more urgency. I’m usually not a fan of hurried puzzle games, but until level 98 (curse you level 98…), I had no problems beating the allotted times for each round. Cheerful music, though the art does look a bit Hallmark card-ish. Looking forward to rounding out the trilogy with Spooky Bonus next.

Enjoyable cute Match-3 with good game length (played through all 100 levels). Nice for relaxing :)

Soundtrack gets annoying after a while, though you can disable it.

There are no Steam cards, Steam backgrounds or achievements for it though.

## Chasing Tails ~A Promise in the Snow~

I got roughly 4 and a half hours out of this game after 100%ing it.

I really enjoyed this visual novel. I would highly recommend it. This is one of the better visual novels that I have read.

It had a compelling story. If this were a full length novel, I would definitely read more. It was a shorter novel, so a lot of plot points could not be super well developed unfortunately. It's essentially a bite sized chunk of a story. But I think it's good for what the price is for this game.

The game has a crisp and beautiful art style. It even has some nice special effects. I was pleasantly surprised considering this is one of the less expensive visual novels.

A PROMISE OF GOOD TIMES

The game is a good example of the H-style gaming with a cute story plot and background mixed in with some surprise erotic scenes between the main characters.

Whilst the overall arch of the novel is not as complex nor dramatic, it does provide the player with some good light-hearted humour, tender moments and even scary heart-jumping flashes. It will satisfy the curiosity of any casual gamer venturing into the anime-ecchi side of the the spectrum and may even fulfill the need for a nice short plot that may, or may not end nicely depending on one's choices.

## Flower Shop: Winter In Fairbrook

As a fan of Visual Novels, I for one, was ecstatic when I got the chance to play this particular VN. It's one I've sort of been lusting after for a couple of years now, so you can bet that as soon as I got the opporitunity to play the full thing, I took it.

This VN is sort of like a typical stat-building YN; you might have to try to guess who which stat is for, but if you spend enough time with each of the guys, you'll be able to tell based on their personalities. And not only that, you need to help Susana, the owner of the flower shop that you're helping out, with the flowers. Every morning you tend to them, and it's up to you, the player, to decide which strategy to use.

Much like Summer in Fairbrook, I bought this game on sale, and yet still find it difficult to recommend to anyone, other than those firmly commited to the genre.

And much like it's predecessor, Winter in Fairbrook leaves much to be desired.

To say the game is bad would be like saying a small piece of chocolate cake is bad (assuming that you enjoy chocolate cake). It's still cake, it's still good, but it is grossly unsatisfying.

The writing leaves much to be desired. Very much like Steve in the previous game, Natalie is a vapid, ignorant, immature, petulant, and lazy girl, who is instructed by her parents to find a job over the holidays, in the hopes of teaching her some discipline (They had already cancelled her cellphone due to bad grades, and are now threatening to take her new car away). Luckily, her room-mate just happens to be Clara from the previous game, and she sets Natalie up with Susana to work in the flower shop.

## Hiking Simulator 2017

If you played this game and liked it and there are hidden paths and you can actually DO something, let me know so I can go back and then rewrite the review. Otherwise…

Graphics are not quite as good as Turok from 1997 which I played recently and it runs worse than Turok on my machine which makes no sense as there are no animations other than a few animals (mostly stuck in walls) and no ambient sounds. The gray rocky walls in the first area reminded me of the graphics in the original Doom.

Hilly Landscape map was kind of a non-event. Then Mountain Top and I look at the mountains in the distance and think “Now that’s what I’m talking about!”. Oh, wait… All you can do is LOOK at the mountain tops and the actual map is about as interesting as Hilly Landscape. The pine grove could have been nice except for the impenetrable branches and I wound up coming out pretty much where I started. And in one spot I rotated 360 and saw 3 of one and 2 of another identical boulders so not much variety in the landscape.

Honestly it isn't as bad as some reviews made me think. In some ways it's worse, in some ways better. This game is a strange mix of making skies and the glass in the open farm shed super pretty, then stretching the landscapes. Keep in mind I bought it on sale for 49 cents USD and it's honestly worth about that from the stupid ways to die factor.

If you could put a boat out on the lake or, I dunno, approach the animals without them running, it would be worth more. What saves it is the music. What dooms is is that it looked way prettier on the lowest graphic setting and the music volume bar is useless.
