Current state needs a bit of work and more content, but other than usual ironing out because of Early Access, the game is definitely fun! It’s a blast when you get item synergies, and the new level up system is really great for constructing a play-style build.

There are currently three weapons: The Katana, Sword/Shield, and Greatsword. Each play differently mainly in attack moves, range, and speed, and each has different variants (though most variants are shared such as “Katana of Power” and “Greatsword of Power”). I am not sure if each weapon has different Attack power for the shared variants though AKA Greatsword does 50 damage while Sword/Shield does 25. I believe there are two more weapon types planned, though me being a Greedy-Gus would like a few more.

I don’t usually write reviews and I wasn’t going to write one for this game, until it left early access.

Circumstances, however, have changed and the game has had to leave early access before the development team was ready to do so, which is why the game is considered incomplete and abandoned.

I’ve been playing the game since its closed beta test and thus I am in a position to directly compare the two versions to give you a clearer picture of what has been achieved and what has not.

When the game had its beta test, it consisted of only two areas and two characters. The starting area and the library, along

Mystery Chronicle: One Way Heroics

Mystery Chronicle: One Way Heroics

Retro RPG featuring alternate universes.

Game lets you play as Shiren the Wanderer from the Nintendo DS and Makoto Naegi which is an Ultimate Student from Dangan Ronpa, although those classes need to be unlocked first.

Similar to 2D Zelda games and a lot of other older RPGs, which is why I call it retro despite it being a relatively new game.

The main feature of this game is a destructive barrier that chases you as you try to finish your heroic adventure.

The adventure run defaults to a mission(given to you by your kin King Konrath which for some reason is translated as father instead of kin despite that you can play as a Queen or a Lord/Duke for example) to destroy a fallen angel named Alma, but you can select replacement missions from NPCs that you can place in your starting home. Yes, every adventure will see your starting home destroyed at the beginning.

Note: As of now, I have 136 hours logged into the original OWH/OWH+. Steam will say otherwise and the rest is me passed out at my computer on the main menu. This is also written up as of version 1.00.02

tl;dr: As others before me have said, just get the original and Plus edition, especially if you’re new to One Way Heroics and you even pay slightly less if you don’t own them. If you want this one, then get it when it’s on sale and is worth less than 7USD. As of the time of this review, this game is not worth the full price. And don’t just buy it because Shiren the Wanderer or Makoto/Komaru is in it.

Kagura Douchuuki

Kagura Douchuuki

I’m a latecomer to playing this Japanese RPG, but I’m glad I finally decided to buy it. The gameplay reminds me of two DS games; both involving the same bossy ninja girl. I think her name is Nazuna. Anyways, Kagura uses similar game mechanics and tactics so it was easy for me to get into the game. This game is very fun to play on all 3 levels of play, though beginners might find the leveling up mechanics of Normal and Strong mode to be a bit frustrating at first. The story is very enjoyable with even a couple of OMG moments (those who have already played it through will know what I’m hinting at).

I’m going to give this a thumb’s up but only for the artwork and girls. It’s very cute. The gameplay is exactly Azure Dreams

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk7e7VwEaLk

Even the items, traps, and mosters are the same. The only difference are you fight yourself, no monster pet to level but they give you a blacksmith to upgade your items to make up for it.

If you’re thinking of playing it, check out a let’s play of Azur Dream to see how the gameplay works and decide from that if it’s something you’ll enjoy.

Touhou Endless Dream

Touhou Endless Dream

A word from Endless Dream’s ever-busy English translator

A well designed game and worth recommending.

I always thought that the Touhou fandom needs more fan-games that are just plain relaxing and satisfying to play, due to the original games' admittedly, hard difficulty.

Roguelike is Endless Dream’s main selling point, and it really got it right. the game itself is, great ( although I’m not the one to say since I’ve played only a little and just watched my friends play). As a person who has followed along the patches, I do think that the game is being polished more and more. Plus, it’s Touhou, how could you hate Touhou?

Really fun Roguelike Bullet Hell.

Can’t comment much on it, start yourself a run, kill various object shaped enemies along the way, collect yourself some money, get equips to boost your stats and face the Bosses (if not rushing you can fight up to 4).

Think first before going into the next area making sure the darkness doesn’t reach you, get yourself some permanent upgrades after the run and try to unlock more characters to play as.

The game is fairly hard on higher difficulties and pretty cozy tbh.

Alchemic Dungeons DX

Alchemic Dungeons DX

Last week I bought the original Alchemic Dungeons on 3DS. Then just yesterday I found out this came out and bought it immediately. It is challenging and fair. Every time I died it was because I screwed up and didn’t use the right tactic. I love this game and I plan on playing it many many hours.

Criminally underrated game.

While it looks simple and generic and starts very easy, the final 3 dungeons offer a good challenge. While it seems like a relatively generic roguelike, the crafting system does add a lot of depth to resource management, and while it looks simplistic it will keep you on your toes. I also think the UI is reallly good and easy to sue when you get used to it .

It also has a lot of distinct classes (8 initially with a secret one to)

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Infinite Combate

It’s a great pleasure to meet DanMachi as a game!ヽ(=´▽'=)ノ

[1] Intro

DanMachi. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Infinite Combate. This is an anime character game produced by Mages and published by PQube. It is based on the popular Japanese light novel. The light novel is a popular novel category, and generally refers to a novel in the form of a small plate with illustrations in Japanese manga style. Thanks to the popularity of the original work, DanMachi, an animation series was aired as well, and eventually it was also released as a game. If so, how about DanMachi in the game? Let’s take a look at it with Nyanco-chan! (ฅ’ω’ฅ)

I do have to make an important point, before getting to the meat of my review. I play Danmachi Memoria Freeze on my phone, where I’m the captain of a fairly high ranked familia in my own right, I own all the books that have been released on the U.S. side of the pond so far, and I own Seasons 1 and 2 of the anime, as well as the Sword Oratoria anime. So I will freely admit to being somewhat biased in favor of the material that was used as the base, here. That said, I don’t much care, and if a game sucks, I will say so. With that in mind, here we go…

Monster Girls and the Mysterious Adventure

Monster Girls and the Mysterious Adventure

although the translation is a bit wonky , this game is a good pokemon-dungeon esque kind of game, but with monster girls. its pretty fun, even for a casual gamer like me.

Real player with 261.7 hrs in game

It’s a roguelike monster tamer. Instead of forcibly capturing monsters and then cruelly locking them in tiny cages, you befriend monsters and invite them to hang out in the town where you live or accompany you on your adventures. So basically, an ethical variant on monster taming, and you can’t capture a monster who isn’t interested in helping you–which many aren’t, though some in every family are.

While fundamentally turn-based, the game moves at a brisk pace, and you’ll commonly go through several rounds per second while not fighting, or about a round per second while in combat, unless you need to stop to think or use items or some such. Even if the exit to a floor is in the very last place you check, taking 300 turns and killing 15 monsters to get there only takes a few minutes.

Touhou Genso Wanderer -Reloaded-

Touhou Genso Wanderer -Reloaded-

Touhou Genso Wanderer -Reloaded- is, like it’s basic description says, roguelike RPG game the puts the player into various dungeons and gives them the outright scenario to overcome these dungeons and its enemies. This review will contain cover multiple parts of the game, from graphics/interface to the entire story itself and a bit of the DLCs. Spoilers will surely appear but I’ll limit them as much as I can..

I want you to cut the long review and say your general consensus!

Ran with almost no thermal stress on an i7-6500U, HD 520 graphics without ever crashing, so it should run on anything better than a potato.

Like Touhou? Like Shiren the Wanderer or mastered the Mystery Dungeon games? If so, buy this. However, if you don’t know anything about Touhou whatsoever or know how to play Mystery Dungeon games, you may want to skip this. The game does include a tutorial that covers most mechanics and has a very, very thorough bestiary, character guide, trap guide, etc., so it’s just a lot of reading to understand the gameplay and story if you’re new to it.

DragonFangZ - The Rose & Dungeon of Time

DragonFangZ - The Rose & Dungeon of Time

A neat mystery dungeon clone (in the style of Shiren the Wanderer) with 2 unique gimmicks:

  1. Fangz: Any enemy you kill might drop a “fang”, sort of the monster’s essence, which you can equip for a unique skill and some passive ability or sacrifice it for some immediate 1x effect.

  2. Bravery: Simply by having your hero fight 1 or more baddies in the open (not adjacent to a wall and thus leaving yourself open to being swarmed), you’ll both charge your fangz (the primary way to do so) or allow certain passive abilities trigger.

Excellent Mystery Dungeon style roguelike game! Very highly recommended!

It takes the classic mechanisms found in games like Shiren the Wanderer (SNES is my only reference), and adds a few very cool layers. I really like how the brave meter encourages more interaction with the environment - its no longer just about finding pinch points, as being in the open makes you much stronger. I also really appreciate the fangs which work like monster souls and allow the player to customise their loadout (after hunting the monsters that provide these fangs). Once you start to stock up your warehouse, this game really shines.
