This was… Pretty nice. Summer Meetings is the fourth game by this author and definitely their best work s far. It’s a very simple romantic visual novel, with five love interests and a very standard, but decently written and well-paced story. It gets a little weird sometimes with the fourth wall breaking and with how it deals with sexual themes (there’s only implied sex, it’s definitely not an eroge), but I honestly didn’t have too many issues with it. The English script is also better than in any of the previous games by this author, without any obvious mistakes or awkward translation that would catch my attention. There’s also the usual gimmick of Mikołaj’s VNs, that is the ability to date a few girls at once and intentionally create all kinds of cheating drama (and it even includes characters that are somewhat OK with not having the protagonist just for themselves). The ability to test various, often really weird scenarios and maybe simply mess with everyone and enjoy seeing the world burn is pretty unique and probably the biggest perk of the game.

Simply awesome, and super funny :)

This game consists of lots of trivia questions and pop culture references, all packed in an awesome cartoonish graphic setting!

There are literally tons of different questions, mainly revolving into as I said pop culture, cartoons, movies, anime and so on, and you’ve always got to choose between four different answers.. the rounds are made of nine questions each, but the most important thing is that.. everything’s always enveloped in a story!

A funny one, with different endings and so on!

Excuse me but I have to write this out loud:

THIS GAME IS AWESOME.

Yes, that’s a highly subjective assessment, but let me tell you why I already love it after playing it just for a little while. Of course, this short review contains SPOILERS, so be aware of that before continuing to read my thoughts.

Running on the Unity engine (and being proof that there ARE good games using Unity) the graphics are kept simple still. Possibly there could be more (shadows, lights and all that) but this game doesn’t need it, as it works great with its simplistic, fun and cartoonish style. If you haven’t seen pictures or a trailer, think of South Park but slightly different. Being quiz-themed you’ll very often encounter text boxes flying in but there’s way more well done “retro pixel art” in this game than one might assume at first. Depending on which “story” you’re playing there are some simple and yet captivating backdrops, urban scenery or even stuff in space. I’m still a sucker for nice “old school” game art, and the graphics in this game work extremely well for me.

Just finish the game and loved it. Other than bugs like how we can’t go in the power castle I haven’t seen any other bugs it’s fun if you give it a chance. oh the Reincarnation Requirements after 3rd Gen i can’t see it for some reason. I found another bug where I can’t reincarnate as a wolf.

There has been a patch since my review that will likely invalidate it. However I haven’t had time to go through and try the game again. I will still leave this here for comparison to the current game and see what’s changed and what still needs polish/refinement

Only reason I currently recommend the game is because I’m a sucker for monster MC and can see some potential here.

However, that’s all it has going for it, and it barely even does that, let’s break down what the game has.

Pros:

Reincarnation system- unique from other rpgs I’ve played, offers the promise of different playstyles and advancement.

LoveSick Darlings

LoveSick Darlings

LoveSick Darlings is a grounded, realistic, emotional story about a close group of friends at school growing up and trying to understand their own feelings - as well as the feelings of those around them. You play as Syd, a sixteen-year old boy who goes to Foster Hill High - a school in a quiet Australian town. The school year is coming to a close and Syd has to decide whether he confesses his feelings to his crush - all this while juggling the several other friendships and potential love interests in his life.

Such as Maisy, the wild and outgoing girl who lives on the same street as Syd and calls him her “best friend.”

Jayda, the sweet and awkward artsy weeb who loves anime and video games and thinks the world of Syd.

And of course the cool and intellectual Steph, who loves books and music… and who happens to be the person that Syd has been crushing on all year.

Spend time with these characters in a close-knit friendship group over the last four weeks of school, developing your friendships potentially into something more! But be careful, each decision you make can affect the entire friendship group. Spend too much time with one character, and another may get jealous. Or say something mean to someone, and someone else may think less of you for it. Or alternatively: maybe if you say something mean, another character might like you more for it! LoveSick Darlings is packed with group conversations where you get to know characters by watching how they interact with others as well as yourself.

Determine the fate of Syd and all his friends as you help him make some of the hardest decisions in his life. Choose whether to confess your feelings, accept or deny the feelings of others, sabotage or repair broken friendships, and get to know Syd’s friends in a way that he never did before. Enjoy these last few weeks of the school year while they last, and make your limited time count to the fullest!

And ultimately decide: who will you ask out to the school dance?

STORY

You are an aspiring food blogger in the city of Wisteria. One day, a giant raccoon guides you to Bellflower Bistro, where you meet three charming characters that will prove to be your life’s turning point.

What fate awaits you at the bistro? Will you answer to your true calling and become a food blogger that will make your mom proud? Are you able to help your romantic partner achieve their dreams? What choices will you make? Who will you date?

Bistro Days is an over-the-top Slice of Life romantic story where every choice matters, with multiple endings that lead you to a different romantic path.

The Characters

Rose is the manager of the bistro, having worked in similar establishments since she was in high school. Now with years of experience under her belt, she is an expert in all things food industry and has the confidence and leadership skills to boot.

Although friendly, she tends to hold everyone to a high standard. She sometimes comes into conflict with those who disagree with her, but she always forgives and moves on.

Lily only started working at the bistro a few months ago. She joined at a weird time, when the management and work conditions were beginning to reach an all-time low. Having been in the hospitality business for a long time, she tried her best to resolve the issues in the bistro on her own – but ultimately, she leaned on Rose for help when things got out of hand.

Iris is a new hire, joining shortly after Lily. Rose hired her because of her outgoing personality and how skilled Iris is at everything, especially latte art and drawing daily menu boards. Iris Covenant –Song of the Forgotten Heroes–

Iris Covenant –Song of the Forgotten Heroes–

Iris Covenant is an unusually pretty JRPG for its quality - by which I mean, the character and monster art is all quite good, but the story is intentionally vague and also poorly translated from Japanese to English, and the mechanics are very simplistic and lacking, between character classes which are only defined by their names and skills generally not doing much except having 100% hit rate or hitting all enemies, but generally for less than your basic attack.

Its unique gimmick, being able to recruit almost any enemy in the game to join your party, is likewise set back by most enemies being mechanically terrible and thus not worth using even if you recruit them. Likewise, while it has NG+ and multiple endings, the two endings (at least, if there’s more, I don’t have any idea how I could reach them!) are very similar and also intentionally vague.

The game looks nice enough, I expected adult content but its surprisingly R15.

It reminds me a lot of “The Vagrant” and menus as well as stat mechanics are well implemented.

However, theres as of now no controller support and the game is basically point & click, which takes a lot of the fun imo. If you dont mind that, then its a solid game though.

An Adventurer’s Tale

An Adventurer’s Tale

I tend to like games where there is no clear direction what to do or how to succeed. Not sure if this was intentional or not by the dev(s) but that is how it be. So I tinkered for about 25 hours going through it twice until I figured most things out. Some bugs are present as well as mysteries if the game is 100 percent achievable. The main thing to succeed is recruit two party members ASAP from the Tavern menu, then do all quests that are not minor from the quest board and from the ladies you court. Shoot for the good ending, get strong enough to defeat the final boss at the end of 30 days, and then go for all the extras in Free mode without the time limit. In terms of lewd, there is not much content but I was playing for the game anyways, the mechanics feel like a true successor to old school games which I liked. The character models were nicely drawn though. In terms of value, around a dollar would be good value since the game is not polished enough, two dollars is fair value.

Adventurer’s Tale is a mix between Visual Novel and RPG, unlike RPG Maker Games or similar, you decide on where to go by pressing Buttons and the World Map. I like the Fighting and there is quite a big Variety of Skills and Party Members. There is also a decent Amount of Quests and Things to discover. The Art is also really good and the Translation is nearly flawless. If you are interested in this Game just for its 18+ Content then I feel like you should probably get a different Game since the few Scenes that it has are good, but not enough, for it to make sense to buy it just for those. I just finished the normal StoryMode in around 6 hours and had Fun with it and just started the Grisette Mode, where you join her Army. That should be a big enough difference to the Main Story that it will be fun for another 6 Hours for sure. Edit: the Grisette Mode is around 2 hours long

Deep Lake: Prologue

Deep Lake: Prologue

nice opening music. nice graphics. Story is okay- from what I can make of it. Bad translation in parts which made it hard to follow. For example the mc stepped in a ‘paddle’ twice and got his feet wet smh. I hope the later installments fix this. Might be pretty good if they do. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt and thumb this one up, but if there’s no improvement, I’ll have to change my recommendation.

Real player with 1.2 hrs in game

This is the first ‘visual novel’ I have experienced. It isn’t a game; you don’t make any choices. So, having gotten over that expectation, I will proceed.

Obviously a novel needs an interesting story, and this is interesting. I imagine it is better in Russian, but since I don’t understand a single character of Cyrillic, I had to make do with the English version. It needs some work. I was able to get the gist of what they were saying most of the time, but an important part of a novel, to me, is how the story is told. So in order to make this a successful English visual novel, they’re going to need to find a fluent Russian/English translator. Google Translate just doesn’t do it. You can’t use the word ‘defile’ when you mean ‘define.’ Two totally different meanings.

Enjoyed the VN but kind of found the stories too short. Would have appreciated a bit more depth into the characters, plus a bit more ‘after’ dating, not just ending the stories right at that point. Still give it a + though.
