SENRAN KAGURA Bon Appétit! - Full Course

SENRAN KAGURA Bon Appétit! - Full Course

TL;DR summary: A fun rhythm game if you can manage the steep difficulty spikes, with all the over-the-top insanity and jiggling fanservice you’d expect from the franchise.

Leave it to Senran Kagura to find yet another new way for sexy female shinobi to battle and determine who comes out on top (and still dressed). This time it’s a rhythm game to simulate a cooking battle, iron chef style. Two lanes of target buttons scroll right to left, with six (or eight, on Expert difficulty) possible buttons to press, any of which can be on either lane. The beat is set by the music, while a combo of cooking action and cartoon skin in the background tries to distract you from your efforts. Succeed at hammering out the patterns, and judge Hanzo will be so moved by the intense flavour that he’ll be whisked away to a bizarre fantasy world, unique to each opponent you defeat (and these scenes are so insane and weird they alone are worth playing for), and then upon return his reaction will be so intense it literally blows the clothing off the loser. You know, because even though it’s a rhythm game, it’s still Senran Kagura.

Thank you for porting Bon Appetit! I’m a fan of rhythm games and appreciative of good port!

Time for an actual review!

SENRAN KAGURA Bon Appetit! is a rhythm game with fanservice.

You rhythmically press the correct buttons along the music (some are catchy) and your rival get clothes damage. Get perfect victory and you’ll be rewarded with the ultimate dish . Ready to be served!

For game difficulty, 3 options available; easy for genuinely enjoying the scene, normal for casual play with some tapping buttons, hard for testing your concentration and focus!

“…no one is born a great cook, one learns by doing.”

Let’s admit it, the times when mixing tile-matching puzzles with RPG elements felt fresh and cool are long gone. Not only it’s hard to surprise people with yet another “Puzzle Quest”, when you see something like that today? It’s like “Good grief, not another one…”. Battle Chef Brigade, though? Let’s just say that this game is special. Very, very special. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

I like this game because it is different form any other game I played. You get to play with different characters and each one has their own story, but they are all part of the main story of the game. I like the combat of the game when you go on adventures looking for ingredients and fighting all kinds of monster to get them all. You also get to choose your equipment for your character and each one has different things that makes your character better. The cooking and how you cook is different and I found it cool how they use a match-3 mini-game to make your dishes, so it is much different from how you do it in the Overcooked games which I also liked. I like finding all kinds of ingredients to cook different foods. The game graphics look really nice like a Disney anime mix and the food looks so good…but I would never eat it knowing where it comes from. I guess it makes sense in their world but it’s weird in real life.

Kitsune Kitchen

Kitsune Kitchen

Quite standard visual novel, it probably takes 1 hour to be 100% completed.

The novel itself is about a chef that has to create the perfect BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) sandwich and of course, it takes place in a kitchen.

The graphics overall are quite nice and there’s a lot of humour, although the game’s too short and yeah most of all one has to deal with the parodistic/humorous aspects of this all. There are no naked girls, couples to meet, romance or whatever else.. it’s way more down to earth.

My point of view on it - review

You know the phrase this was so bad it’s good?

That would apply here for me, although I didn’t consider it bad, just good.

It was so good that it was good!

For the little price fee this game has you can enjoy the humour of hitting on kitchenware with hilarious endings that includes decent music that you could get in dlc’s for free at the time of writing this review. Therefore I would recommend it, no matter how wrong it is, the humour and laughs are definitely worth it.

I’m not that good at puzzles but I got through it. Pretty challenging game with some cute girls, and some girls who are not so cute. This 3D anime lewd art style that’s common with games like this was always pretty hit or miss for me though.

A sliding puzzle girl themed around girls and food, there are 12 levels in total. Difficulties vary but you can reset if you get stuck, and none should take too long.

Achievements are tied to solving the puzzle and watching the images after completing.

Great game!! Easily one of the

! scariest games out there , in my opinion! I like how

! horrifying it manages to be without jumpscares , not a lot of games can do that. The sprites are amazingly well done, especially the

! nightmare sprites. . Though if I were to have one complaint, the ending, at least in the route I played, was pretty confusing to me. I wasn’t 100% sure what was happening. But still amazing game, i feel like a monster after playing this, i’m sorry Anatoly 😔

THIS IS NOT A GAME FOR KIDS. It looks cute and like a regular visual novel and it’s not at all.

Story: You play a mysterious 5th person who lives in an isolated cabin in the woods. 4 strangers come to stay with you, and you must build relationships with them and provide meals every day. A terrible storm floods the surrounding area and you can’t leave the cabin for supplies. Also there are some talking fruits and vegetables that “help” out sometimes. And what’s in the locked basement?

Gameplay: Like most visual novels you choose options that change your destiny. This game is meant for multiple play throughs. The achievements will guide you to unlock secrets, new paths, and dreams. You can fast forward the dialogue and change the speed in options. Space bar or left clicking progresses the dialogue.

As a big fan of adventure and fantasy games. anime, and web/light novels, this game is totally my wet dream lol and no, I have neither read the novel nor watched the anime, and I haven’t finished the entire story YET ;) wink

With a bit of isekai vibe (I don’t even know why I get it from this game), you start your new life in game as a adventure and a drug dealer or a pharmacist as a kids friendly term. Though you can pretty much sell everything and anything in your apothecary, like sometimes your customers will come and rob you off the egg you’ve been saving to make eggs and bacon…

Huge fan of the manga and now the anime. Very fun RPG that is reminiscent of Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley. You gather herbs and other resources as well as fight monsters in dungeons in order to obtain supplies for crafting and potion making which you will need to sell in the character’s personal store.

For an early access game, there is a LOT of content. Took me 27 Hours to complete all available main quests and side quests. Was also able to complete a majority of the wishlists for the other characters with the exception of some items which are too rare to obtain. Also only missing 1 achievement, but I did not want to grind a few more hours when I essentially finished all the available storyline quests.

STORY OF SEASONS: Pioneers of Olive Town

I will say this~ As a die-hard HM weeb

With only 40hrs put into this game and only on “Autumn” Xseed has done a fine job with keeping the Harvest Moon franchise alive and ongoing. I love that they keep some of the same elements from the earlier games.

Pros: The graphics are beautiful and the characters are way better than Xseeds “SOS” where everyone looks the same. You have more personality with these new characters and they’re all so bubbly and cheerful and have their own unique dialogues. I do hope in the future that MORE Harvest Moon games will be coming out on the pc as I lack a newer Switch. Thanks for catering to the PC master race Xseed. Natsume has lost me in its very weak and un-immersive graphics. The animals are adorable everything about this game is amazingly fun and there’s so much to do the repetitiveness does not get “boring” or “old” It feels fresh every time you do something even if it is the same thing over and over again. All the villagers literally like everything so finding an item to give them daily is not hard. You even have CUSTOMIZATION to your main character. This is by far the best I have seen and ever played from Harvest moon when it comes to that. The outfits are so pretty too and don’t even get me started with the animations when farming. They’re on the peak.

As much as it pains me, this is probably the first Story of Seasons title that I have to honestly say I cannot recommend.

There are some cute things about it, and some of the heart of the series is there, buried way way down in there, but honestly this feels like Story of Seasons is trying too hard to take My Time at Portia elements and falling so flat on it’s face that it tumbles right over a cliff.

First and foremost the balancing in the game is atrocious. Day 2 of Winter Year 1 and I had already beat the town development “main” story. Winter 23 of Year 1 and I was married to the bachelor of my choice. The only major story milestone left for me is to have the kid (which I have read ahead is an adoption thing regardless of hetero marriage status or not and that moderately irks me). After that it’s just little completionism, which at the rate I smashed through them in year 1 I don’t expect will take longer than the last Year 3 achievement.
