My Dream Sport Dating Simulator

My Dream Sport Dating Simulator

Stop that! It’s silly!

What the hell was this? Sport dating… as in dating sports… After dating pigeons, cats, bunnies, monsters… eh, why not? It could be fun, I thought. It could be wacky, I thought. Well, it was wacky alright, so forcefully wacky that it wasn’t much fun at all. My Dream Sport Dating Simulator is a comedy game, but my god, I don’t think I laughed once.

You’re a sport(!) and you enroll the school for sports to become the next big thing. Then you meet others and hilarity ensues :| That’s it. That’s the story. Except, I didn’t find it very hilarious. Oh, and this is supposedly a dating sim. Well, there’s no dating either. There are 7 characters you can interact with and they will react positively or not to your choices (so like ‘love points’ in a dating sim), but ‘routes’ are extremely short. To get one ending for a character takes 20-30 minutes. The ‘dating’ consists of random jokes, some references and a lot of 4th wall breaking. You also get one mini game per route of varying annoyingness. Actually I loved the 80s training montage and the library one.

– Review written for 3 Point Play

A pretty small, pretty chill, little game about living some sort of after-life which most weebs know of, that is, the isekai resurrection thing. Featuring some cutesy pixel graphics and easy mechanics, I think this particular game here can be appealing to anyone who enjoys anime and is not that much into gaming, since, once again, everything is pretty much entry-level mechanic-wise: you click people to interact, you click objects to collect materials, you move in a standard fashion with the WASD keys, and you do your combat stuff with WASD + Enter.

Majikoi! Love Me Seriously!

Was an instant buy for me but didn’t expect it’ll be like this….

Majikoi….YES YES YES YES! Finally, they actually did an official localization of this gem! And to bring it to steam as well! Nice going Minatosoft. Tried this game years ago using the fan-translation patch which was done splendidly by the translation team and got instantly hooked by the myriad amount of characters personality and while the story might seem generic in the sea of school life themed VN, they still did a wonderful job in delivering it and made it captivating as well. The steam version, however….I have mixed feelings for this one.

We live in a society, where a free fan translated game is superior to the same game on Steam. Wow

I want to support the devs who created a great game but these kinda half baked product isn’t doing it any favours.

You buy the Steam version, you’re getting choppy game with voices being removed for important side characters especially villains that are important to the game and changing the names for characters as well.

HENCE, must get the DLC patch from JAST USA (why it isn’t on steam though smh) and voice restoration patch to add better translation and voices so you can experience this game fully as it was meant to be. Similar to mods, but these are necessary mods that will make you mad why they didn’t do it well, idiots.

Black Dream Plus

Black Dream Plus

Play as a voluptuous supernatural investigator named Anna who travels to an amusement park constructed inside the imagination of a friendly gentleman who makes churros, cosplay outfits, and dances for her, where she decides to retire from her job and takes over the park, making that gentleman her father, and a self-doubting coworker tasked with detaining her into her boyfriend, while dealing with the mess a cute, awkward, and equally busty nightmare-fueled girl causes all over the place.

You basically get that and a whole bunch of other things in Black Dream, an adorable, fascinating, and overall sexy and strangely wholesome game. The protagonist is very whimsical but self-assured, and the characters have distinct personalities revealed with an incredible amount of original handmade full-screen pixel art scenes. It feels like something you would discover on the PC-98, or a classic OVA made into an interactive anime adventure. It’s not a visual novel, but not quite a regular RPG. To say it’s a hidden object game is not descriptive enough either I feel. Basically, Black Dream is like a toybox for you to uncover a ton of cute and well-made novelties that combine into an adventure with a comical, quirky, and surprisingly sentimental story.

I absolutely love this game. The music is very well done, catchy and fits the mood. The art work is clearly done with verve and style. The story is fetching, amusing and takes a few interesting turns throughout. Combat is handled in several ways adding to variety. Anna, the main character is ultra cute, and dressing her up in the many different outfits is very rewarding as you see her in various and unique outfit-specific poses. Really fun game. I recommend 101%

Cherry Tree High Comedy Club

Cherry Tree High Comedy Club

I’m not usually one for time management games or dating sims, but CTHCC drew me in with its anime sensibility and comedic promise, before completely shattering my expectations.

Befitting its comedy club premise, the dialogue is regularly chuckle-worthy, with moments of pure absurdist brilliance. (One example: “I see now … So that’s why I like cannoli. That makes sense.” “Wh… What are you talking about?” “It makes total sense.” “Don’t just end a conversation like that!")

That said, each of the major characters also has their own full story arc with actual emotional weight, ranging from coping with loss to coping with corporate encroachment. These topics are handled with surprising sensitivity, and display Mairu (Miley in the Westernized version) as more than a mere player avatar, with her own vulnerabilities occasionally surfacing… and then she’ll make a lesbian joke, because deflecting is fun.

Warning: Lengthy review incoming!

Cherry Tree High Comedy Club is an interactive visual novel with the gameplay of a dating simulator.

Before I get into the review, I want you to know, that I played the westernized localization of the game. I’m going to talk about this in a little bit more detail at a later point of this review.

You play as Miley Verisse, a young comedy fanatic, who’s planning on forming her very own Comedy Club at her school. Miley’s roommate has already been compelled to join the club, but the problem is that school clubs have a minimum number of required members, which means that Miley has to find three more people to join her club until the end of the club trial period. That means you’ve got two months to manipulate and befriend as many people as possible.

The game is really simple, and the choices are obvious as can be for the routes you want. It’s a bit buggy though, making it annoying. And the characters are pretty simple, so better for achievement seekers.

Charming little summer tale. I just went the Rica path and I was not disappointed. Don´t expect anything too deep, but it´s not bad. Backgrounds look like being hand painted, the avatars are in steep contrast to it by being a moderately western Manga style, but they look just right somehow. Lots of talk about food and about human relationships and having broken up recently.

The weakest part actually was the H-scene: Almost static picture, awful lot ot talk, over and over again with references to food.

Another of those visual novels that people love, hate, or love to hate, Would you like to run an idol cafe? 2 is by Winged Cloud, authors of the Sakura series. In this one, you continue your attempts to keep the idol cafe afloat. Now, you face a little competition. Do you stay faithful to those you wooed in the first game, or do you stray?

Suggest getting on discount or in the bundle (maybe both). While decent enough, it is a bit short.

STORY

You are an aspiring food blogger in the city of Wisteria. One day, a giant raccoon guides you to Bellflower Bistro, where you meet three charming characters that will prove to be your life’s turning point.

What fate awaits you at the bistro? Will you answer to your true calling and become a food blogger that will make your mom proud? Are you able to help your romantic partner achieve their dreams? What choices will you make? Who will you date?

Bistro Days is an over-the-top Slice of Life romantic story where every choice matters, with multiple endings that lead you to a different romantic path.

The Characters

Rose is the manager of the bistro, having worked in similar establishments since she was in high school. Now with years of experience under her belt, she is an expert in all things food industry and has the confidence and leadership skills to boot.

Although friendly, she tends to hold everyone to a high standard. She sometimes comes into conflict with those who disagree with her, but she always forgives and moves on.

Lily only started working at the bistro a few months ago. She joined at a weird time, when the management and work conditions were beginning to reach an all-time low. Having been in the hospitality business for a long time, she tried her best to resolve the issues in the bistro on her own – but ultimately, she leaned on Rose for help when things got out of hand.

Iris is a new hire, joining shortly after Lily. Rose hired her because of her outgoing personality and how skilled Iris is at everything, especially latte art and drawing daily menu boards.
