Hero Hours Contract
I had fun playing this game. Just be aware that there are quite a few puzzles in here that are only solvable by using your character’s powers correctly. If you don’t understand how your characters powers' work by the time the tutorial ends, I would advise doing it over again because its important.

I mean, it is a simple quick and dirty strategy. Certainly has been a bit of fun for me- for totally unbiased reasons that have nothing to do whatsoever with the fact that this game was a Kickstarter and I am in it.
cough
In all honesty, I do wish it had done a bit more interesting things with the progression- had a couple more music tracks- but the game itself does what it sets out to do and does it well enough. If I was to add something, it’d be some form of progression in the form of buying “conditions” as well as time off and pay. Unions not only improve pay and give people time off, but they also fight for safer and better conditions. By doing that you could slowly implement an increasingly powerful set of weapons and abilities.

Deep Sea Valentine
the art and characters are cute and the story is simple but consistently well-written, though the gameplay can be a bit buggy and walking around can be tedious at times. still, it’s a cute game and i’d say it’s worth playing. some characters suffered from having less screen time, making their endings seem abrupt, and i think triche’s ending overall could be set up better. otherwise, liked it a lot.

A very charming dating sim, featuring a cast of some very fine fishy femmes!
I think if Deep Sea Valentine looks like the kind of game you would be interested in, it’s not going to disappoint you.
It’s a cute and funny game with great writing and a nice soundtrack, what more can you ask for?
P.S. Moka is my favorite :)

TWINKLE STAR SPRITES
so is this game a good game? hell yeah, this game is super fun. a competitive shmup with puzzle elements which works like a charm. its colourful too and has a nice aesthetic, and a good soundtrack. each character plays a bit differently too, different shot and movement speeds, of course each character has a different charge shot and bombs, standard affair with a shmup.
is this port a good port? absolutely not. this port has slow down and that ive never had happen when playing this on fightcade or supercade (when it was still around). like, the game does have slow down naturally here and there when theres a whole bunch of projectiles on screen, but with this port it happens a lot more frequently. it even happens when some characters throw out a bomb, especially with memory. and when i say slow down i mean the game chugs to like, 5 frames a second, basically unplayable until the slow down decides to stop. it’s also got a weird issue with sound where certain instuments will sometimes not sync up with the other ones.

This is one of the best versus shoot’em ups ever made.
However, what you get with this re-release is an easy to use ROM+emulator bundle with some additional features. The game ROM is not even openly accessible so you cannot use it with the emulator of your choice and are stuck with the given configuration options and the given launcher.
Besides, the Neo-geo original version is not the absolute best version of the game (the Saturn version had more content).
The additionnal features are a leaderboard, multiplayer and achievements, but every one of them is flawed:

A very deep and meaningful story, some people are too quick on judging others for being different or what they wish to be. This is a one of a kind story I haven’t found any other visual novel as powerful as this one and I wished it got more recognition.

SNK VS. CAPCOM: THE MATCH OF THE MILLENNIUM
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium was the first fighting game crossover between the eponymous giants of the genre, and although compromises were made to get it work on a two-button, 8-bit system, it does both companies' legacies justice. The game’s roster is faithfully recreated from the 16-bit games that made them famous, with their movesets and their personalities being on full display here, and it generally plays quite well. This versions also adds a rewind function and slightly improves the character unlocking process, both welcome changes.

Sadly it doesn’t have online yet but Steam Remote/Parsec is your friend. Tested on both and works nice with my friends. Of course I want native online and rollback but for now I’m pretty happy for this, this is a dream come true after 20 years because as for now this is the only option for 2 player versus/cable link emulation. Mednafen/NeoPop/MAME doesn’t have link support… yet I hope this will change in the close future.

Actraiser Renaissance
First of all, this is a QUINTET remaster. The mere fact that this game exists is a tremendous blessing for a certain cult fanbase.
The obvious bias aside, is the game good?
Short answer: Yes. Long answer: IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE
It’s obvious that a lot of faithful effort was put into remastering this game. From including Yuzo Koshiro’s amazing soundtrack and accompaniment to the astounding artwork given to the many characters, menus and intro cutscene. People put their sweat and tears into this, and it shows in that regard.

A great example on how to make a remake. Renaissance does an excellent job of bring the original SNES games action and town sim into a modern era with new graphics, classic and remixed soundtrack, and expanded story that makes you feel more immersed in what was a somewhat bare-bones world before.
The new artwork is great and the story telling is actually quite deep. Everything reads like a positive psalm with the writing really showing some great character development and overall storytelling. Which is good as all the new characters do little gameplay wise. The story is the only way you will interact and learn about the characters and their backstories.
