Heat

Heat

I think finally I’ve played enough time to make a solid review of HEAT.

I’ll be changing/updating this review in the future if needed, since the game is still a work-in-progress.

Like to read???

Heat is a survival sandbox game settled in the American old West times. Imagine yourself exploring and trying to settle in these lands during the territorial evolution and American revolution, back in the days. Gunslingers! Bisons! Cowboys VS native Americans! Steam locomotives!!

PROS

  • The Wild West is always a fun theme

On 4/26 I bought this game and it is now 4/30. I have 78 hours under my belt and these are my thoughts on this early access game.

I knew this was a beta and not a finished product so i didnt have dreams of it being a stellar AAA polished game. But what i have discovered is a real gem of a survival game.

*** I have played Rust, The Forest, and 7 days to die so naturally my experience with Heat will be affected by my experiences with other early access games of this genre.***

DISCLAMER: I have only played PVE servers so i can get a grip on the game before I jump into the fray on PVP–jess sayin'

Very cute, but content-lite. Realistically Do It With Hay has at most 15 minutes of content, thickened with the bale stacking and having to do some DIY platforming for one achievement. Nice visuals just don’t make up for the wonky physics though, stacking the bales goes fine right up until you try to jump or bunny hop onto them, then both they and you go flying and you must start over…provided the timer hasn’t run out, again. Pitchforks serve no purpose other than to poke the truck driver when he falls asleep, so trying to reach the stacking objectives while managing your stamina meter becomes ridiculously hectic.

War Identity

War Identity

Okay, lets get this out of the way, War Identity is not finished, but shitting on a game that is not only free, but made by 1 developer who works on this game literally 24/7 is not helping either. I believe that this game not only has potential “like many others say”, but will soon be a game with a large community. The discord can show this by people working with the developer, giving him tips, feedback, and support. And the creator listens, fixing bugs in 2-4 hours of posting and gives advice within minutes. Getting past this, War Identity is strangely addicting… The gun play is actually really nice as well as the sound effects for the AR-15 and Glock 17 “haven’t got all the guns yet but probably good as well”. The bots have a unusual style of combat but can be as difficult as a CS:GO match but still manageble enough to get a few kills off before being clapped by a scavenger with a AUG. Yes I might’ve installed this game out of pity, but I genuinely enjoy it and it can be a game to pass time in the background when your friend spends 2 fucking hours repairing the submarine in Barotrauma.. or to pass the time in General…. I probably got off topic but in all honesty give this game a try, you might like it. 1/10 gang

No one plays this game so you’re stuck going against bots, luckily the game knows no one plays so it doesn’t take you long to get into a bot match. Which wouldn’t be so bad, but the bots just slide around unnaturally and shoot you even when facing the opposite direction. Horrible FPS on the default High setting, dropping to Low seems to change nothing graphically but makes the FPS playable.

Zombies mode is an even more basic version of Killing Floor mixed with some Call of Duty. Set amount of zombies come in waves, with some varying enemy types. They slowly shuffle at you, pretty easy to kill. There’s mystery boxes scattered across the map to get weapons mid wave, otherwise you’re stuck buying weapons at the start of a wave. No option to purchase ammo for your currently equipped weapon.

Pandemic Train

Pandemic Train

What is Pandemic Train?

In Pandemic Train you are in charge of the crew aboard a train roaming the postapocalyptic wasteland, ravaged by both war and a deadly plague. Your goal is to survive long enough to discover the cure… or die trying. Humanity’s fate is in your hands! Start your journey now!

You are in charge!

Pandemic Train is a survival simulation game in which you manage the crew as well as the passengers aboard the old school train carried by a steam engine. The in-game universe is characterized by an alternative timeline, in which a catastrophic viral outbreak has decimated the world’s population. The mysterious plague kills the infected within 24 hours, leading to widespread panic, riots, and war. The world is in ruin, and you are the only hope for its survival. Travel through the wasteland, gather the resources, fight off the bandits, and do your best to research the cure for the disease!

Survive!

In Pandemic Train the world has become a very inhospitable place. Every person can carry the disease, so you have to choose your crew very wisely. People will die along the way, and you have to minimalize the damage. The resources are scarce, so you have to distribute them very carefully. And worst of all - there are lots of hungry wolves around. And by ‘hungry wolves’ we mean desperate people who perceive your train as a fat prize. Or sometimes - as an opportunity for a better life. You have to decide whether it’s better to fight them off or welcome aboard.

Manage the resources

In the harsh reality of Pandemic Train, you need to be self-sufficient - you grow your own food, breed the livestock, gather and purify your own drinking water, and do the essential repairs. You have to utilize every bit of scrap or junk you have at your disposal and turn it into something useful. This often leads to some difficult decisions, for example - rarely there’s enough medicine for everyone, so you’ll have to decide who is worth the treatment, and who is going be left to die.

Fight the plague!

The main goal of your actions is to create a vaccine and save the remnants of humanity from extinction. The longer you manage to keep the train moving, the less likely the crew will have the contact with the virus, and your scientists - more time to work on the medication. You can customize the train to your needs - decide how many people are on it and how many train cars are going to be attached to the engine. But remember - the bigger the party, the harder it is to keep it in check. You are the only hope for mankind. You are the last hope… for humanity.

Mr. Prepper

Mr. Prepper

I’ll be honest and say that I wasn’t sure if I liked it the first few hours but boy did I change my mind. I was expecting to actually have to survive in the shelter I created and see the aftermath of the wasteland left after the world goes to hell and I was puzzled as to why this sort of game play wasn’t added in but it’s still a fantastic base building , survival game and I hope they’ll add DLC in the future, where you’ll actually be able to survive in the bunker or even get to experience what happens after landing the rocket .

Real player with 448.5 hrs in game

Mr. Prepper. A survival base building game that’s not about survival and not about base building but purely story-driven.

TL;DR: If you can get it cheap (10 USD/EUR), give it a shot. But if you want a survival challenge or expect another game like This War Of Mine, STAY AWAY. It has SO much unused potential. It could be so much more.

PROS:

  • Interesting story. Mr. Prepper is not your average guy.

  • The typical “just one more day” game design that sucks you in.

  • 3 (4) NPCs you interact with that are all kinda likable.

Mr. Prepper: Prologue

The Meta:

This is a free prologue, as a feature-limited demo of the full game which expands upon the content that was made available in the demo from July. You have absolutely no reason not to try this.

I’ve played rather extensively through the beta testing, and can attest that the devs are incredibly responsive to the player community, both for bug fixing and implementing player-suggested improvements or modifications, and I fully expect that behavior to apply to the full game.

The game includes no microtransactions.

Real player with 70.7 hrs in game

Originally, I thought the prologue would end in 30 days at most, but later I found out that I was still too young and naive. On the first day of the second month, I angrily ate all my food. I have many cans which used all the money I made to buy, and with lots of blueberry milkshakes and carrot soup. It’s ridiculous that I didn’t have diarrhea after eating it all! Ok, I have to quit the game in dismay!

Talk about the advantages and shortcomings of this game. This game is still very creative, painting style is good, it is said that the official version has more content. In terms of content, the game is undoubtedly a success. But the game also has some shortcomings:

Mark Twain’s Tom Sawyer: Survival Game

Mark Twain’s Tom Sawyer: Survival Game

We are one of the first studios who decided to make a videogame based on Mark Twain’s books.

So, we took a chapter from Tom Sawyer’s Adventures book, about him escaping to an island with his friends. And decided that this will perfectly fit into a concept of a survival game. But it is not a plotless survival sandbox. As anything with our studio, our games are highly focused on unique experiences, intrinsic motivation, and player emotions. If we make a survival game - it is going to be unique and most of our time is going to be dedicated to immersing the player and creating a feeling of an authentic teenage adventure inside the player’s head.

Rear of Business

Far too early access, there’s nothing to do other than walk or run around lol

currently bad fps, can walk through props/objects. can also walk through walls/windows in many buildings.

not sure why you have weapons there’s nothing to shoot. i started with some grenades but not really sure why lol.

I’d be interested to see if the devs actually do anything with this game or if it’s just a failed project.

Unfortunately i’ll be after a refund..

Great Hunt: North America

Look, on the last Colorado stage, grassy ver., It’s impossible to get past that stage. Once I kill an animal, I go over to pick up the skin, and for some reason, it won’t let me. Please fix this. The game is not too shabby for $10, but there are some obvious flaws that need to be fixed.

only thing i can fault this game on is a weird bug where you cant skin animals anymore than 3 times a level even if level requirement is greater than 3. otherwise really nice.
