Metal Wolf Chaos XD

Metal Wolf Chaos XD

tl;dr: Arcade Armored Core. Fast, furious mech action with a ton of customization, lots of hidden depth, and a focus on old school arcade-style high score chasing and replayability.

Yeah, yeah, President of the United States in a giant robot, blow up America for great justice. If you’re looking at this store page, you already know the bonkers pitch, and you probably know that the tone of the game really is as ridiculous as it sounds. But how does it play?

You control an ultra-agile mech running, jumping, boosting and flying around to complete objectives that are all fundamentally “blow up something or other.” Early levels may have you blow up all the enemy encampments in an area, but later levels can involve racing through a timed sequence to blow up a reactor, or playing hide and seek with a giant spider mech to blow up its power station (and then blow up the mech itself), or fighting against a group of enemy mechs in order to blow them up. Though all this might seem repetitive, the level designs and subtle differences in how you’re expected to blow things up really do give each level a distinct feel, and the sheer act of blowing things up never stops feeling great.

A bare-bones re-release and remaster of the game with a few issues (including a locked frame-rate due to its console origins) but aside from that, it should run on a toaster and is perhaps one of the craziest, most nonsensical and downright ridiculous mecha games around, done by From Software nonetheless. The story is pure unadulterated insanity or how Japan views or thinks the US works. Dialogue here is above the proverbial “so bad it’s good”: this is voiced, people SPOKE those lines. You just don’t get this level of madness anymore and I applaud them for it.

5 assets you can explore in VR with poorly implemented teleport controls and snap turning.

Admittedly 3 of the environments are focused on a central location and 2 are you are intended to move around more. Some objects especially in the sub division level were rendered in different colors left eye then right eye making the objects like this impossible to look at without hurting your eyes.

Settings menu doesn’t come up so you need to exit the game every time you want to change levels and aside from languages there isn’t any options. The Help part where it has text explaining the functions is partially hidden due to black text being written over black background…

Civil War: 1861

Civil War: 1861

This is a comparative between this game and Sierra’s Civil War – Generals to highlight some of the shortfalls for the game.

From what I can tell, both games are:

  • Historically accurate

  • Contains levels of difficulty, although Sierra’s Civil War has more difficulty levels

  • Turned Base

  • Hexadecimal movements

There the similarities end in my opinion. This game does not come close to Sierra. The following are some of the limitations I perceived in playing this game:

  • Cannot combine infantry with artillery which is common in a military setting.

This game is good, but short. Basic.

If you like civil wars, then you have to play with this.

I think the price is expensive, but you can get all Civil War games in a bundle.

You can complete it very easy, and you can get all achievements.

A faithful homage to the Mattel handheld of 1977. There are some gameplay tweaks here as well as some concepts borrowed from Mattel’s “Football 2” handheld but overall this is a lot of fun to play and if you enjoyed the original from the 70’s you’ll probably like this version too.

Cute game but the controller locks up on the computer opponents first series. Also there is no selection to pass/run like in the old coleco version. During the opponents first play, it just crashes and gives and error message. Hope the devs will fix it! I have received no response to my post about it on the discussion page.

edit: The devs contacted me today with a response to the problem. They say they will look at it. It’s good to know the devs care about such things!

So first and foremost before I even say anything developer. You need to immediately remove all the recorded voicework in the game. American English speakers appreciate your effort, but the bottom line is the inexperience of the voice actors makes it impossible for you to portray the characters you’re trying to portray. Instead of doing it this way, I suggest you record the voicelines in your native language and then have English subtitles translated by a professional. The way the voicework is now is totally immersion breaking and hilarious, but that’s totally okay because it’s something that can be fixed.

Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony - Prologue

Beautiful, creative game. I had fun playing, I’ve been following the team for a while, I’m sure the game will improve.

Sounds are really professional, I would even buy some of them to listen all day long.

In my hands our main character would definitely get pneumonia.

Also we won’t get along with the eagle in the main menu of the game, when I try to pet his head, he is turning his head :( … maybe he is trying to tell me something… maybe we will see that in the next episode… I’m very excited.

Interesting enough, it has the potential to be a solid point-and-click adventure game if the story’s done proper. There are a few issues though, mainly the grammar. There are a good number of grammatical errors. Misspellings, (not mentioning the pirates), odd spacing between letters, even a line of dialogue where an S is on the wrong word where it was meant to be at the end of the previous word.

I’m not trying to sound like a grammar freak, it’s just since text is the main way the game communicates with the player, it’s gotta be solid for it to stick. It honestly feels like they ran the text through Google Translate, or maybe a less experienced translator working on the English text?

A very addicting game …. you start to play and…. it’s already morning…. Everything seems to be quite simple, but with each level it becomes more and more difficult. And a special thank you for the highscore! Nice graphics and music create a special atmosphere. Watch the video for details …

Sam & Max: Season Two

Sam & Max: Season Two

The Next 5 Monthly Episodes of the Entire Sam & Max Trilogy. Sam & Max Beyond Time & Space (Season 2) delivers the best in Point & Click Adventure Games. The connection between the episodes is more loose and complicated than in the first season. Season 2 builds on Season 1 with more dynamic NPCs, an updated engine, a hint system, support for widescreen monitors, more realistic animations & more minigames within each episode.

Season 2 features a calibration assistant when first run, which allows the player to set their graphics and difficulty settings before playing. Help Sam & Max on their exciting Adventures as they go Beyond Time & Space!

Real player with 9.3 hrs in game

I’ve played through all three seasons of these Telltale Sam & Max games now and I really enjoyed them all. They all sort of blend into one another in my mind, but I think season 2 was the most humorous and it certainly upped the craziness in terms of plot and the locations and situations that Sam & Max find themselves in. This season also introduced many new characters and started to phase out Bosco, who was really becoming tedious and tiresome for me over the course of the first season.

Backing up a bit: these episodic games from Telltale are point-and-click adventure games with quirky characters and surreal humor. If you know anything about the Sam & Max characters, then you should already own all three seasons as you will most likely enjoy them.
