Home: A Quarantine Story
A realistic narrative that builds a unique yet somehow familiar setting, Home: A Quarantine Story will softly resonate with anyone who can’t decide if their heart is with the home they’ve made for themselves or the home they grew up in. I’ll admit it doesn’t look like games I’m normally drawn to, but it’d be a mistake to judge this visual novel by its graphics. Home: A Quarantine Story is, may I remind you, free, so there’s really no reason not to pick it up.

A relatively short story about how family and the concept of “home” can be as poisonous as it is comforting. Detailed descriptions of items throughout the house breathed more life into the characters and character relationships, and the relationship between the main character and her mother in particular was quietly unsettling from start to finish—especially because it leaned into believable emotional manipulation tactics.

Interrogation Files: Port Landsend
I for sure would recommend this game to you if:
-
You have already played Her Story, liked it, and would enjoy playing a similar game
-
You wouldn’t be put off by lower production values (the acting, in particular, can be distracting)
-
You can look past and put up with some minor but irritating design flaws
If the above describes you then I feel pretty confident that you would enjoy Interrogation Files: Port Landsend. It is clearly a small indie game, but it has an interesting story and I was definitely invested in the investigation to figure out what had happened. For me the good very much outweighed the bad, and I personally wouldn’t hesitate to play future games from the same developer.

I randomly came across this little gem while browsing through FMV games and jumped all over it. I like FMV and I like crime, mystery, and detective games so naturally it was right up my alley. It follows the same format as Her Story by watching clips and searching for keywords, but this game manages to take things a step beyond by introducing multiple suspects.
The case that unfolds is interesting and keeps you invested. The acting ranges from pretty good to some characters who talk while constantly staring off camera to read their lines. I think my favorite part might have been the built-in ‘hint system’ for lack of a better term, where you can click a button to get a undiscovered clip unlocked for you. It’s a big help if you get stuck and it makes going for the 100% achievement much easier than similar games.

Red Embrace: Mezzanine
Red Embrace: Mezzanine is a short (~1 hour or even less) free visual novel with point-&click elements, 2 endings rewarded with 2 achs. Unfortunately, for now the game has limited features, so those achs won’t appear on steam profile((
I’m sure even if someone didn’t play Red Embrace or Red Embrace: Hollywood the game will be interesting enough. I have almost nothing to complain about: visuals are great, music is perfect to set that gloomy mood, the writing is so potent dragging you deep into that dark atmosphere. That’s really amazing how that short story, maybe not even the whole story but some kind of prologue for the future game, can awake such powerful emotions. Really impressive!

As usual, fine. As usual, there is a light sadness after passing the game. And not only because the story itself is sad, because it concerns loneliness, loss and hopelessness, but because it shows us what we dream about at some point. We all probably dreamed that on some day someone (and preferably some handsome guy) would offer us to change our lives. But this did not happen.
It’s very nice that the story echoes Red Embrace: Hollywood. I am very glad that I somehow found Argent Games.

Beyond The Thaw
You are Max Gilbert, a former military doctor. While taking a trip to your usual place of stay, which is a nice cabin near the lake, the next moment you find yourself alone in the middle of nowhere, fighting fierce cold and facing series of trials. What is it: reality or mind games, behind which lies your truly hidden deep secret?
Beyond The Thaw is storytelling and a slightly walking simulator with elements of stealth, horror, and adventure. We squeeze cinematography out of the Unreal Engine and work hard to create beautiful and cohesive gameplay scenes. Every detail should be meaningful, storytelling is more important than beautiful style.
As the player progresses, it is necessary to make quick decisions that require interaction with the game through the QTE (quick time event) — to run, hide from opponents (creatures and people), solve puzzles, plunging deeper into the game’s history, and conflict.
We have provided additional activities — fishing, chopping wood, riding a snowmobile, searching for herbs, so that you can just catch your breath and enjoy the process, but at the same time, each of these activities will work to reveal the plot.
You will meet both negative characters and positive ones. But at first glance, you never know who is in front of you. You always need to be on the lookout and face danger.
There will be a lot of collectibles in the game, it won’t be easy to find them, but once you find them, you can learn more about the game world.

Plank not included
Bought this and for the price its pretty good had a hard time balancing on my plank board and the levels increased the height good strategy it tells u to have a 6ft to 7ft plank board but even my 7ft board was still short for it lol… I will say i had more fun on this one than richies plank expierence i still like that one to ….. My only issue with this game is hopefully the developer has it to where if u fall off your plank then it shows u falling like in richies expierence….right now u can hop off plank and u dont fall please change that and your golden….

I did not play with a plank. I don’t even own a plank! Since it was not included, and I did not use one, I might not have gotten the full experience! Just kidding. Laughing out loud. I don’t think anyone would play this game on a real plank, because they might fall and break them expensive VR goggles! Otherwise it is a very good ‘balance’ game, albeit a very easy one. You catch the two humming birds to finish a scene, and you won’t have a problem with that. It does have quite a few scenes though! I got enough of that yummy VR vertigo to satiate me, as you go higher and higher in the city. An urban environment with lots of humanoid avatars to distract you are present. If this game didn’t have a good look to it, I would have rated it negatively based on the price. Were you listening to me? Or were you looking at the woman in the red dress?
! Look again. Freeze it. This… this isn’t the Matrix? No. It is another training program designed to teach you one thing: if you are not one of us, you are one of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJsi2SeMCQ0
