I decided to write a review (though usually do not do), I liked the game, and here’s why:

Passing the game is not easy, missions of the first company are not very hard, but further became much more difficult. You can’t save during a mission, so you have to play carefully and cleverly (I’ve gone only 12 levels). Before the start of the mission you just in general terms imagine what awaits you, and already it is necessary to choose the squad on a mission (cool that the game offers total freedom in terms of units equipment), it is very exciting.

Steam Squad is a “Steampunk” Turn Based Strategy game, currently available as early access (in Beta - currently v0.371b)

Whilst the game is based on “The Great War”, it’s historical content does not include the Entente and Central Powers forces per se, but the British and “Exotic Asian” (Han) forces instead, this dynamic is interesting - and refreshing and sets a very plausible scene.

The main character in the story is a British Captain - Ken Whitehall, and his troop of “Gentlemen”, whom are battling the “Han”. The storyline follows Ken and his men, through different missions as they undertake the battle and stop the march of the Han.

This is a difficult game to review… one of the most difficult I must say. On one point the game is awesome and briliant that you want to shout out: ‘PEOPLE PLAY THIS GAME IT IS AWESOME!’ and at the same time there are things about this game that are utterly garbage and stupid that make you wanna scream warnings: ‘STAY AWAY FROM THIS’

This game is hard to get into and easy to bounce off and never try it again. Let me go into some details… the begining is horrible, this aint no Call of Duty shooter that is for sure so people who are rather utter amateurs of this genre will most likely say: this game is f*cked up and unistal, but I am used to difficult FPS games so I just went through it. It gets a bit better later but not perfect and the know how to do stuff in this game aka tutorial is almost non existent which is very bad cause this game has some interesting mechanics that arent typicaly find in most FPS out there.

This is a Polish FPS game made in 2009 by The Farm 51. When I first saw the trailer I got the vide of a movie called Deathwatch, which is also based in the WWI, like this game. I thought this game is about horror of war with some monsters in it, and I didn’t know then, this is just the beginning.

The story is about an american soldier named Simon in the British Army, fighting against the Germans. One day when he and his platoon attacked the enemy, they got ambushed by them, and he had to flee. Soon he got saved by another British soldier, but the soldier tells him, that the dead rised up, and other horrible things came up to the Earth. Also the soldier didn’t let in Simon’s soldiers, because of this they get into a fight and our hero wins, and also he founds out that the solider said the truth what is happening, and now Simon wants to leave the battlefield.

TLDR: Very buggy, but okay for the most part. Really cool premise and atmosphere. Would recommend to those who enjoy Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Story/Overall Atmosphere:

World War 1 never ended. It has continued on to the 1960’s. There have been advancements in technology, but not by allot. The atmosphere is quite nice. Someone said the game looks ugly because it’s just too brown, but I strongly disagree. I think it adds to the atmosphere of the game. I really like the entire concept and atmosphere all together. It’s really good stuff.

I’ve read a number of reveiws of this game, mostly negative. Quite frankly I don’t understand why. I’ve owned the disk version of this game for some time now and have played it nearly a dozen times. It is what I like to call one of my “perennial favorites”, or more specifically, one of those games I play every couple of years. Now having picked it up on Steam for a mere $1.03 I’m enjoying it yet again.

Iron Storm has immersive atmosphere, cool weapons and satisfying, challenging combat. The story, while nothing particularly original manages to drag me in and keep me there. You embark on a seemingly simple objective but circumstance makes the goal anything but simple. There are some tricky parts that leave you wondering what you are supposed to do or where to go but they are few and once figured out pose no problem.

I would recommend Iron Harvest. the campaign is good for an RTS (not starcraft 2 level of story) but compared with more recent RTS' it’s up there and not just a tutorial for multiplayer. gameplay is similar to the Company of Heroes if you like that style, there are four factions (1 dlc faction) to play as, with the mechs I think being a game highlight with unique designs, styles and gameplay for their factions. voice work is good with an option for a ‘native’ language rather than overriding polish, russian and german characters under one language.

War isn’t about middle grounds, and neither is Because We’re Here. It’s a game that may well prove to be polarizing (and I’m glad the dev took the risk). You could find this otome game a complete waste of time, or unusual but worthwhile. I’ll tell you why I’m in the latter camp as I go through different aspects of the game.

Older fans have probably played the demos (both super old and now defunct) that constitute what is now Act I, and might be wondering if it’s still worth it to buy this part of the game. Plot is the same but there’s been a pretty big glow up in other aspects. The biggest plus for me was how the other guys aside from August now feel much more fleshed out - nothing big, but little changes in the writing strengthen the characterization. There’s also longer ending scenes (with CG!) that make for better closure.

I first encountered this visual novel a day before it was released, and immediately I was excited – I love historical settings, and WWI doesn’t get nearly enough media attention, and the characters looked very varied and setting-appropriate, so I had high hopes. Having played the first act now, I can say that the VN delivered everything I wanted and more.

Firstly, this is a very well-researched story. Everything from the details of the trenches to the many different wartime roles that were available to the different kinds of reactions people had to the war – and how they changed over time – are replicated here perfectly. But it doesn’t feel either overwhelming or confusing – apart from a brief explanation of the political history of the war early on, there’s no exposition, instead allowing the reader to familiarise themselves with the world by watching it unfold. It’s worth noting now that this story isn’t technically based on the real WWI – the countries and their geography are different, with some interesting results – but if you want something that captures the spirit of WWI in a very personal, in-the-trenches way, I can’t fault it.

To avoid confusion or disappointments, this game is not for people that want fancy graphics and fantasy WWI or WWII games. It’s also not about building up an empire throughout the centuries like civilization or other country-building games.

It’s a mixture on warfare strategy and tactics with the emphasis on warfare.

Almost all games I know in this scene get very slow when handling 100+ units or maps larger then 200x100 plots.

Supreme Ruler has I think 1,5 million plots. The earth map is very accurate. So it’s not like you’re unit is crossing Germany in just “next step” it really takes a whole to cross especially if you’re enemies with Germany it will take a while to beat the enemy.

I’ve played the Supreme Ruler series since SR2020 now 10 years ago. SRGW is an excellent game if you understand how to play it. There is a learning curve.

DIPLOMACY: Diplomatic relations will broadly trace historical trends if you have the default settings on. Otherwise, the diplomatic relations seem mostly random (even if they aren’t), simulating various diplomatic accomplishments or crises going on behind the scenes and outside of direct view to you as the Supreme Ruler. Setting volatility to “High” in the lobby before you start your game can cause relations to improve or deteriorate quickly on their own. If your volatility is set to “None” relations hardly change at all without your direct input. If you have no problem spending your country’s money on diplomacy, use “support the ruling regime” option for a particular country, and the relations will improve with the government you are targeting, apparently simulating diplomatic efforts to increase ties with that nation. On the other hand, if you spend money to “support opposition” the relations will deteriorate with that government somewhat quickly without explanation, soon giving you a pretext on which to declare war. Trading often and generously (on terms more favorable to the other side) will increase your relations slowly with the common people of the country (as opposed to its government/ruling elite) over time. You are able to build spy networks in the countries of your choosing. You can also arm rebel factions in countries that you oppose. There is a wide array of treaty types from which you can choose to build relationships with other regions. That’s essentially it as far as the diplomacy system goes. The diplomacy has dramatically improved with recent patches, and the AI now actively creates alliances and declares war and peace, something it did not do very often before.

It’s a good game like it play it to con a half hours, so I guess it’s good enough just wish I could fix a few things on it, but it is a good game with good change. The music a little bit. And maybe the sunset

Overall fun and interesting game. A bit rough on the edges, but is just some good all fun for the price your getting around an hour of gameplay. Overall feel of game is quite on point and music goes along nicely. Pretty entertaining game 7/10

What kind of world war game is it when the war never happens? The diplomacy needs to be fixed before this game is worthwhile. I played twice now building up my forces, preparing for the war, and then the assassination happens and they never go to war. Also if you are a power like Italy, you can never gain favor with any of the major allies and can never join the alliance. Another stupid thing is that you have a minor power almost beat, you have most of their provinces, then you offer great terms to them where they only lose one or two provinces and they never accept it. Diplomacy is just screwed and it ruins the whole game.

Longtime fan of the Franchise and this I think has been my favorite game yet, I got it before it was “finished” and got a deal on it too, they’ve done a good job with all the new events in it which makes it more interesting to play as there’s a lot more random chance with how things play out, mechanics of it work pretty well, I still get some bugs now and again, I find it way to easy to get sucked in and “one more turn” turns into about 20, especially when in battle.

Recommendations:

1. a Russo- Japanese War Scenario and a Boer War Scenario would round out the period nicely.

This game shields me from the cold that is this planet. More importantly, the colonel protects me from the world. The sweet colonel. I never needed helen. All I need is right here, flexing his big muscles, making his next exquisite dish, and being the man I always craved.

With stage 5 terminal cancer, the doctors told me it couldn’t be cured. I seen this game come up on my recommended list. I thought to myself “With only hours left to live, I might as well spend my time doing something I enjoy” Starting the game I was filled with immediate joy. The characters were absolutely lovable. The story line has the depth that can only be rivalled by very few AAA titles out there. Every click left me guessing “What’s going to happen next?” and “Will I get to try another one of the Colonels chicken wings of pure ecstasy?” Before I knew it, I was in the kitchen, cooking with the Colonel, helping him create Nan’s potato and gravy. It was absolute bliss!

The big problem with this game is the AI.

It´s much, much to aggressive and unhistorical.

The first world war and the time proceeding it was marked by decidedly conservative regimes and military high commands doing everything decidedly conservatively and cautiously.

But so far I’ve seen Germany completely loose the war on Russian within a few turns while I as France was awaiting to get my face bashed in by them in the autumn of 1914. The Germans that did attack on the western front stuck to the Schleiffen-plan religiously and kept on punching their way thru Belgium to the channel coast even as they where cut of behind them by my counter attack.

Muzzylane’s Making History:The Great War is a very good game for two rather different reasons.I was having trouble with the production code (0 and o,B and 8 you know the sort of thing and most likely my mistake )but Chris Parson at support was right there and assistance to a rather grumpy gamer was just an email away . Not hours or days later but help right now.That was a pretty good intro to M.H:T.G.W.Thanks Chris.

The game itself after a modest 14 hours is proving to be excellent.The map ,oddly is much better than it appears in Steams add, the choices of countries you can play as is amazing,the detail quite stunning.Ok if you just want to roll the armour ,the good old Command and Conquer tank rush this isn’t your kind of game. I’m still trying to get my rail system up and running correctly, learning how one problem effects so widely and how to solve it is the brilliant part of this game.Micro management,sure, but great fun. You want to do something ,but can not ,if you delight in finding why not and how to rectify it you are going to just love this game. Its a clever, functional game.No crashes,no long load up times,all good.
