Interesting combination of racing (you have to reach the end of the level before time runs out) and shoot ‘em up, although neither part is really prominent. You will rarely lose a level because of a timer if you just don’t stop moving forward, and the fighting part of the game only becomes interesting on bosses (which are quite different from the main game and could be really challenging sometimes).

Could be fun for speedrunning, most of the time I’ve played it I was trying to optimize my time on certain levels that I liked the most. But don’t think about it as a racing simulator. When you try to go fast your car feels more like a rocket ship, so maybe this game will fit wonky physics simulator lovers more than racing lovers.

Just read!

It’s so sad to see the good game being completely unknown. Perhaps you’re not sure about quality of this game. I understand, - it only has a few reviews, and yep, it’s only made by one person, which usually means that the game wouldn’t be good enough, but this one… is surely exception. Frankly speaking, i also thought it’s going to be something typical, like most of modern indie horror games. And yet, “i gave it a try”, and completely changed my mind. This game is awesome, and here’s why:

The game looks great, but the timer is a bit too tight, and the first boss is way too hard. Loved the intro movies!

The Day They Came

The Day They Came

So I was really curious about this game, sadly the developer got a little excited and released this game way too early.

The game has no enemies, no options menu, no way to exit the game or instructions.

Once you chop down some trees that fall and then spaz out due to some crazy physics all you can do is access a build menu that let’s you create some walls, steps, floor, door, base and I couldn’t use the floor as a ceiling like it suggested.

The game has at least a 30 minute night cycle making it almost impossible to do anything, much less see.

Planet Nomads

Planet Nomads

[May 16, 2019: Now that the game is released, I wanted to edit this review to reflect changes to the game since I originally wrote it,]

Will you enjoy Planet Nomads?

  • Yes if you enjoy sandbox building games.

  • Yes if you enjoy being creative.

  • Yes if you enjoy problem-solving (not fixed puzzles but real creative “how can I put this together” building challenges).

  • Yes if you enjoy a beautiful environment.

  • Yes if you enjoy a good soundtrack.

  • Yes if you enjoy single player.

  • Yes if you enjoy being able to customize your game world.

Gameplay (Short Summary)

Let me start off this review by saying, that the game currently has very little to offer in terms of gameplay if you are not much of a creative person, but if you are, then be prepared to a big grind fest early on in the game until you get the ability to construct auto miners, after that prepare yourself to the next gameplay phase - driving simulator, because resources are scattered across multiple biomes and while driving at max speed from 30-50kmph, it takes a while to get you around the map.

Weekend Drive

Weekend Drive

This game hits the perfect margin of difficult and fun. After a while the Long road gets boring, the Final survival is challenging and fun at the same time, what i think long road needs is more variety and random events. Obviously this isn’t going to happen for a while because of there being one person working on this which is impressive, I just want to offer my opinion on this. This game is worth the buy if you want to see it grow overtime while it’s basic now, it has potential. One problem i found was balancing between the different factions while the ordinary zombie is far weaker than a normal alien, the mothership always loses to the Mega zombie i don’t know if this is intentional or not but I think it should be even. This is all just my opinion…(add a faction of bugs it would be cool ;)

I have been with this product since day 1. I bought it the first day it came out. And I really like it. So what is it?

Well you know those times when you fire up a game like left4dead because you just dont wanna think but go kill bad stuff and chill?

Well the main game play mode is just like that. You are set on one of several maps and waves of weird alien, zombie, giant bugs or animals and other weird stuff come in waves to ruin your day. There are satchels of loot the spawn randomly that contain some of the melee, guns, grenades or food, drink, medicine.. you get the idea. Now before I go on I have to clarify something….

Some weirdness:

  • Since the maps is really small, the resources are regenerating. (rocks, trees, animals…)

  • You can’t repair your ride

  • Who the Hell cares about the color of the car?

  • The aliens. Not adding much to the gameplay (nothing)

  • Steam Inventory drop? Well, could give you few cents after marketing them…

  • You can’t do much thing at all, it’s EMPTY.

I remember the “original” version of the game which was a bit different.

But not much progress since…

Supporters pack? Nah, skipping it…

This game is bad, good concept though, gameplay reminds Rust. It is good if it was someone learning how to make video games but it doesn’t even play smoothly.

Why a cap at 30FPS? That was in 2006, now he play at a minimum 60FPS. 30FPS basically broke the game for me.

Didn’t see a single animal, zombie or alien.

Map is limited, I got to a fence or whatever and couldn’t get past.

UI doesn’t seem professional in the slightest. Must get better.

Sound too loud, headphone users be aware when you start the game, you must lower the volume immediately.

Timothy vs the Aliens

Positives: Overall, it’s a recommendation for those looking for different kind of open world 3D platformer. It’s not often we get actual noire visuals and it looks fantastic and plays well too. Lots to explore, you can get into sewers and rooftops, and even access a few buildings. Great music too. Combat gets the job done. Nothing spectacular, but still fun.

Negatives: Not much options for customization. You can use a controller or m/kb option, and both control well, but there’s no custom button layout. So you’re stuck with what they give. It works, and there’s no issue with the controller layout, but the kb/m layout is a little confusing at first. The biggest thing being that they made the reload button Q instead of R. You get used to it, but it’s an odd choice to say the least. Also, once you’re done with the game, it seems like that’s it. It doesn’t let you go back and mop up missing collectibles/achievements. Oh well.

The game is very short, and has a few frame rate issues, but overall was enjoyable. Something about it’s style and feel during game play is just appealing.

Surely worth picking it up on sale, though based off the few reviews there are, I just wanted to pay full price for the devs. You can find stuff about this game and massive changes it has gone under since at least 2016, when it was isometric. I appreciate the effort that went into this.
