An interesting Tower Defense title that will keep you on you toes - it is not easy.

It’s all about timing - when to call the next wave (you will need that extra $5, particularly in the early waves when cash is short) and when to use the airstrikes and satellite beam. The variety and varying speed of enemies will also keep you focused.

At this stage the title does not have all the bells and whistles - I would like see to damage stat’s for the towers and upgrades, a start button at the start of new levels and an indication of the type of enemies in the next wave.

The Day They Came

The Day They Came

So I was really curious about this game, sadly the developer got a little excited and released this game way too early.

The game has no enemies, no options menu, no way to exit the game or instructions.

Once you chop down some trees that fall and then spaz out due to some crazy physics all you can do is access a build menu that let’s you create some walls, steps, floor, door, base and I couldn’t use the floor as a ceiling like it suggested.

The game has at least a 30 minute night cycle making it almost impossible to do anything, much less see.

I like the game. I don’t know if it is incomplete because i can’t find the third rocket. But I like this and PROJECT ULTRA. Even if they are broken and possibly abandoned. I hope they will update and make more games soon.

Incredipede

Incredipede

You might be looking at this game and thinking “Wow, that’s one unique game!”, but the most unique aspect of this game is that the achievements ask you to do things in the real world.

This game wants you to go outside and explore your own backyard. It wants you to look closely at the insects and plants that you probably haven’t looked at since you were very young kids.

That is amazing.

I recommend taking a break to do an achievement anytime you get stuck on a level, and then go back to laughing out loud at the acrobatics of your creature.

This is the exact definition of incrediphillia. One of the best indie games on steam without a doubt. There are no physic engine based games that can compare to Incredipede. I’m sure most of you have played some sort of flash game some place where the whole point is to create some sort of contraption, building, or any kind of construct. What I think makes this stand apart from the rest is the mere fact you create a simple character with odd physics, like some sort of construct, with movable parts. You are really only limited to your own imagination. You can create pretty gnarly stuff and get through the various levels. The game itself has some replayability as well. The game allows you to do the levels on Easy, which gives you a premade design to finish the levels, and then you have the Hard mode, which starts you off with the base of the character Quozzle, which is just her round eye. By the way, when you finish the game, don’t fret. There is a level editor included in the game. You can create some fun levels and you can share them with your friends as well. I really can’t think of any negative things the game has. It is a pretty solid title, and I believe the price is just right for such a game. With that I say, whatever you do this Summer, it won’t be as fun as Incredipede. All bugs wish they could have as many limbs as the gal in this game. Every purchase of this game helps fund research for limb growth of bugs, so open those wallets to make their life easier.

Road to Eden

Road to Eden

Played many ‘survival’ games over the years but this, right here, is something else! At first glance its a kinda survival-crafting-base-building-monster-killing game and we’ve all seen those. What sets this apart is the execution. They quality of the scenery is quite stunning and the ingenuity of the game draws you in gently until you don’t realise how how many hours you’ve been playing. The overall feeling of menace never leaves and when something just appears out of the shadows, its all your childhood fears of monsters in the wardrobe reborn. Loads of things to find, craft and build. Guns, ammo, food, tools, building materials, energy panels, its all here, as players of such games as ‘7 Days To Die’ will be familiar. However compared to this, ‘7 Days’ looks like a cartoon and other games are not far off that similar description. Monsters…..monsters are really nasty and although killing a couple that are chasing down a road is easy enough, try doing the same when 40 of them turn up at your base and are kicking down your door….I still get nightmares!. Its not a blood fest and not really graphic in its depictions of violence. its just the kind of fear that we all enjoy, from haunted houses on Halloween to Skydiving at 30, 000 feet. Just don’t be playing this in the dark…with headphones…alone in the house.

I discovered this gem hidden deep among the list of your usual run of the mill survival games, Until that point I had never heard mention of it sadly.

Its still in the early stages of development but has the feel of a 7days meets miscreated hybrid with some added detail.

The game has been on steam for little over a year and has a single dev but already has an impressive amount of content already, alot more than a good few other survival games i’ve played.

Along with changing weather patterns that dampen your senses there is a range of NPC’s all of which have varying strengths, abilities and a shared dislike for you.

Terrorarium

Terrorarium

After just over a whole month of developing levels for the Murder Garden Contest, it’s time for my review of Terrorarium.

TLDR:

Terrorarium is a fun and creative game with an interesting concept and encourages community participation. The developers are always active in the Terrorarium Discord server and always take suggestions by listening to their fans (Which is rare these days). Plus, You can make awesome levels for your friends and others to play and murder them with ferocious plants! What’s not to like? Since its in early access, it’s likely to be cheaper now than when it releases, so pick it up and try it!

7/28/20 UPDATE: The game is out now with new levels and new features, so here is my current day review!

The game can be broken down in to three major parts: The main story, the community made levels, and the level maker.

★ The Main Story plot itself is fine. You get to understand the character you play as and the the little pikmin-esque creatures you play with, etc., etc… It certainly adds to the game, but what really matters (in my opinion) are the levels themselves. There are 26 levels ranging from very easy to very hard, some of which are designed extremely well! Some of them however aren’t. I’d say around 85% of the levels are satisfactory, while the other 15% just aren’t either aesthetically pleasing or the puzzle/mechanics are a bit wonky.

Unknown Planet

Two thumbs up from me. Perhaps the game doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel, but it has it’s own verve, it’s own charm. I wanted to wait until I had more time under my belt before giving a review, but I’m so pleased by this that I couldn’t wait. I stumbled on this while searching for open world survival craft games. I already have things like Ark for my Xbox One, I was looking for something….. I’m not sure what I was looking for…. something a little different. And “something a little different” is exactly what this is, and I’m totally stoked. Perhaps this might not be for everyone, but I’m digging it :)
