Chicken Defender

Chicken Defender

Fun and short game. The game consists only of a couple levels which vary in difficulty. For the price just perfect, pretty polished tbh.

I would say there was a lack of weapons, a couple more would be fun. Also, the goal for the last level was 100, I got 26,000, that can probably be tweaked. But overall fun time, thanks developers.

A $A1.50 well spent. Good graphics and sound.

Thought this Tower Defense title could be a walk in the park - after getting my bottom spanked my first 4 tries, I am happy to amend that thought. I particularly like the fact that the game advises you, and shuts the level down when you are not going to be able to meet the level requirements. I can see that I am really going to have to think the levels right through.

A terrific value for money title.

The graphics are cute . You eat, sleep, bathe and wash your clothes every day. There are 3 bars, Food, Energy and Bathing. I like the realism, but the game feels unbalanced. Eating takes up about 10 omelettes. While eating most of your produce to stay alive, you don’t have much to cook with. Chickens and cows don’t produce milk daily. Sleeping at night only takes an hour, so there is nothing to do and very little inventory room. I’d like time to move faster as you sleep. Harvesting trees requires chopping down the tree to get to the fruit. Hopefully they will fix all this, but in the meantime, I can’t give it a positive review.

Fantasy Farming: Orange Season

Fantasy Farming: Orange Season

I played 35 hours of this game in the last 5 days. I’m hooked.

There’s a severe lack of guides and information on some of the game’s aspects but the Developer and the small but loyal community are quick to respond to players' inquiries which is nice to see. There’s also a lot of carry-over knowledge for people like me who have played a lot of farming games.

Hopefully new art gets put into the game soon. The lack of portraits on some characters is a bit disorienting and ruins the immersion.

Music is great and simple. Art style is nice and pleasing. Story is there but needs to be expounded on. The dating aspect is also begging to be updated as, from what the Wiki provides, each candidate only has one romantic heart-event.

The developer was gracious enough to provide players with a demo with which you can play until Summer. I strongly recommend any fan of agricultural/farming games to try this beautiful and enchanting game.

I played the demo and loved the experience, the graphics are beautiful, the farming experience is there and I will add on this as I progress through the seasons.

One important thing I want to underline is that the game is in Early Access, things can and will change so please take that into account before deciding to take the plunge, things such as townspeople story events don’t seem fleshed out yet, we are expecting cooking to be introduced and a major update for the animals. Again, try the demo and ask questions, the developer is like a mother hen on the forums ^^

Cave Confectioner

Cave Confectioner

This product was provided for free to review by a friend of a friend.

The game initially reminded me of the classic Kings Quest game on the Apple II. You wander around a bit looking for the next thing to pick up. Kind of just wandering and clicking around with very little direction, but there are some occasional tips by talking to the characters. It was probably inspired at least some by MineCraft, since the player starts with nothing and has to pick up items and then use them with other items in inventory or objects on the ground to try to get make else. It also has similarities to One Hour One Life. There’s a lot of experimentation required to get anything going.

The game seems really nice, and I like the concept a lot. Thing is, I am having some issues with saving. However, as far as I understand the game is early in development and possibly being made by one person so issues like these are understandable. Can’t wait for future updates!

P.S A little help with saving would be much appreciated! :D

Edit: Save function in now working. Also, the controls are fine, that was a mistake on my part. Big thanks to the developer for the fast fix and the kindness!

Very cute game. Nice graphics and music.

The game looks easy to play, but the mission is more challenging for me, especially killing evil flowers.

The idea of a flying pig is fun and I like it.

The controls area little laggy, but once the dev has that down to pat, i reckon it will be a fairly good game. For the price i would recommend it. It slants towards using a controller, so bear that in mind. But cute art style, good concept, look forward to seeing how it progresses

The Evil Farming Game: Replanted

The Evil Farming Game: Replanted

All screenshots are of alpha builds, and are subject to change.

What have you gotten yourself into now?

When Richard, the town farmer, finds himself at the center of his wife’s murder, it’s up to him (or you) to figure out what the hell to do.

You live on a small island village, with friendly people, law enforcement, and your wife.

Everyday starts the same, harvest yesterday’s crops, give them to your wife, and plant some more. Forever and ever, maybe sometimes you head to the market to pick up some tools.

But one day, that all changed, late at night, you lash out at your wife, and kill her. As you feel her pulse stop, you have no idea what to do. Will you turn yourself in? Or will you hide, stealthily avoiding punishment.

Make your choice in the First Part of this 2 game duology.

Meet friendly faces! Make friends, make enemies! Make your own story. With endless possibility to how your scheme will end up, there is no way you’ll make it out of this scot-free, as you’ll have more than just your wife, taken away from you.

Replanted is primarily based on the “Evil Farming Game” myth.

Monster Harvest

Monster Harvest

Should I recommend this game yes or no? I played about 50 hours of it.

But this game feels very early access. It is fine for the price.

Don’t expect too much though.

Here are my pros/cons.

Pros:

-Monster farming/fighting is integrated in the gameplay loop, unlike Stardew Valley where it feels more like an afterthought/removed from the actual gameplay.

-The world is more phantasy like. You don’t have your typical normal farmlife but instead you farm eyes and skulls. Especially the Dark season is very Halloween. Yes there are only 3 seasons: Dry, wet, and dark.

Hello,

I am quite conflicted about this game.

I really like the concept of Monster Harvest. It’s different from the usual. It’s like a mix between moonlighter (for the dungon part) but with planimals for fighters (a bit like pokemon) and harvest moon, stardew velley, peaceful days, etc… for the farming / townfolks part.

And that is a good idea. But there are a lot of itching little things.

Let’s start with the + :

Three seasons which are different from the usual is nice, 21 days instead of 28 or 30… Well, why not.

Blub Emporium

Blub Emporium

This game is truly unique, colourful, and bubbly (or I guess you could say blubbly ;))

While playing through this game, the first thing I noticed was the vibe it gave when I was watching the emporium sell, the blubs buying items or sitting down, maybe even playing on an arcade; It is really something else, especially with the soundtrack adding to it; It sounds relaxing and ambient, yet it sounds like there’s a powerful meaning behind every song.

I also find that the factory is super fun! It’s puzzles are very challenging, but very possible; Meaning it has a very nice balance! The Farm has a lot more depth than most would initially expect with how you can harvest items and whatnot, you can even automate some parts of it! :O

I’ve played a few hours and it’s very fun :)

Really cute aesthetic which is a blast to decorate, a relaxing farm which is super therapeutic, and (my favourite) a really interesting factory which plays just like a puzzle game! (with a ton of potential to improve at, optimise, and experiment with).

This game is a perfect example of being worth more than the sum of it’s parts, and there’s something in it for everyone - it’s not the sort of game I would normally play, but so far I’ve had a blast, and look forward to playing more (THERE IS SO MUCH CONTENT O.O)

*** NOT RECOMMENDED IN ITS CURRENT STATE **

But seem to be getting some developer love.

Keep it on your wishlist and come back in around 3 to 4 months.

Changing the review from a negative one to a positive one since the developer is really trying to fix whatever is wrong with the current build.

– Will update if things change in the future.
