Dragon Blood

Dragon Blood

This game is semi-afk with plenty of dailies and hot events. It provides lots to do from dungeons, quests, side quests, and an active rpg/level/gear system also a multiplayer tower and guild war. Although it clearly has several in your face pay to win elements it is incredibly entertaining as a second screen game. It also has retro style mini games such as a coin drop with magnets/bonus time/bombs and a treasure hunting mini game with active elements and a roulette wheel. Highly recommend to play on a free and casual basis. Top lvl at time of posting is lvl 43 with Battle Power 13k. I am lvl 31 with battle power 5k non vip. Just play for two hours and see if you enjoy it. Chers.

I like this game because you can afk farm like in many other mobile games. So you can leave the game running while you do rl or other stuff.

At this point however it is getting absolutely ridicoulus. Not only is this game the absolute pinnacle of P2W, its almost P2Play, every 5 level (from 179) you unlock another thing that costs premium money (which you only get by paying) everyone of those LARGELY increases your power.

You literally need 100s of dollars to even have a chance to do the activities ingame, because of this the player base is also very small (~300 players).

The Tavern of Magic

The Tavern of Magic

As always, I will start this review by saying THIS IS IN EARLY ACCESS! This game is not complete yet!

I was very skeptical when I heard it was a “Card based action game” especially in vr, and was very curious how this would work. But after over an hour of duels, dungeons and messing about, I love this mechanic and design.

The combat mechanics are great, you twist your hand, which rotates your controller and selects the card (or ability) you wish to use, you press the trigger, charge it up, and boom! You’ve thrown a fireball in an orcs face.

The Tavern of Magic is a new VR magic duelling game.

It can be played in co-op, PVP, and there is currently a small single player dungeon that I play in the video. It’s primary focus seems to be the PVP.

The atmosphere and graphics are fantastic. It’s quite a good VR experience and I enjoyed my time clearing the dungeon. It is currently in Early Access on Steam and is actively being worked on so it will be great to see it grow and evolve.

Currently the games store page promises…

“When this Game will leave Early Access you will be able to:

Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards

Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards

Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards is a multi-platform Free to Play CCG. It worked on Win 10, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Animation Throwdown is a card collecting game incorporating five Twentieth Century Fox Television animated comedies: American Dad!, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Futurama, and King of the Hill. Game is also on Kongregate, IOS and Android. Gameplay is similiar to other free to play CCGs, but has some different features. You have a deck with a limit of 35 cards, which give you enough chances to get the cards you want out. PVP arena is the only place where you can level up your deck hero and unlock other deck heroes, you get random chances of receiving xp for a random hero. The game is Pay to Win so don’t expect to win much verses a P2W player, if you don’t Pay or didn’t grind it like a job. Do link your steam account for this game to the Kongregate website, so you can also play from the website.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE GAME EVER

After the success of Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, American Dad, Futurama, and King of the Hill it was hard not to make a universe where all of them can come together and fight to the death battle royale style.

This game features an abundance of new items such as: drugs, costumes, weapons etc. As well as some of the classic characters any gamer would recognize like: Stan Smith, Dale Gribble, and every gamer’s personal favorite Peter Griffin himself, the man the myth the legend. All coming together in a perfect blend to make some wacky zanny cards that are sure to make you LOL hahaha.

Card City Nights

Card City Nights

If you enjoy an easy-going yet skill-based game, or if you enjoy the elements of both puzzles and trading card battles, I highly recommend ‘Card City Nights.’

In ‘Card City Nights’, you fast travel through an island city with a chill, evening atmosphere, talking to comical NPCs, and battling them in a TCG for booster packs. In the card game proper, each player has a 3x3 card grid, and seven Defense Points. The goal is either to fill up your opponent’s grid with occupied space, or decrease their Defense Points to zero.

(Need a tl;dr? Just go buy the freaking game.)

I would like to start out by saying that I have a lot of experience with TCG’s. I played Magic: The Gathering for a while, and I liked it but I was never in love with it. The game that I really fell in love with was Yugioh- which, from about 2010 to early 2012, was the best card game of all time, no holds barred, perfect pacing, for most of those formats well balanced, all playstyles were represented, and most importantly a deep, deep, deep, DEEP card pool that constantly rewarded me for scrolling through lists of cards, pointing at a random one with weird subtext and saying “I’m gonna make a deck around that one!” But eventually, konami ruined everything, the game sped up until it was too fast, the power crept up until I couldn’t build a creative deck and survive against anyone competent for more than a turn or two, and the community got even worse. The state that it was in was much akin to the happy accidents of “Super Smash Bros. Melee” or “Marvel vs. Capcom 2” in that they probably didn’t actually think about how the things they added affected the meta game, but eventually it somehow turned out fantastic. I’m saying all of this because Card City Nights reminds me of this era of yugioh. Very different gameplay, yes, but I’m not talking about the gameplay. There are two very important things that this game gets very right and other digital tcg’s get very very wrong: card collection and deck building.

Kaboom Monsters

Kaboom Monsters

Kaboom Monsters is a strategy, card battling, adventure game. When you launch the game, you will have the option on 1 out of 3 decks to choose from. There is no clear cut difference, so picking the ‘good looking one’ is the picking method. The battle screen has a 3x3 game board in the center of the screen and your available cards display on the right of the battle area. Turn based between you and the computer opponent. Kaboom Monsters cards has a series of numbers on each side, which represents its attack/defense strength. You also have another number in the upper left corner, which represents the number of turns a card can remain in play. When you place a card next to an opponent’s card, the numbers determine the victor, meaning if the card has the higher value, you will turn your opponent’s card to your side. If the value is equal or less than your opponent’s card then all stays unchanged. The Smithy will arm or upgrade your cards, the Wizard can combine three of the same cards into a more powerful card.

First of all, my negative judgement is preliminary, as it is still an early access game. I also want to mention that the developer contacted me a few weeks ago and promised to publish a final version soon, which is always a good sign.

At this moment however, my verdict must be: This game is cute, but it feels a little weird. The quite original gameplay combines concepts of trading card games (destroy the opponent’s cards by beating them in certain stat numbers) with the 3x3 grid of Tic-Tac-Toe. This “combat” is embedded in a rudimentary fantasy world with crafting and merchant hubs, where you can upgrade your cards. I do like the artstyle, and I appreciate that the creator wanted to try a new idea. For my personal taste however, the execution of that idea has not matured yet. The game world needs to be fleshed out further, with NPCs and some lore, in order to feel authentic. The progression needs balancing, because right now, the way to go is to grind certain resources and then buy cards of the strongest type, which then devastate everything that stands in front of you. Most importantly, the cardgame combat system is not satisfying at the moment, as you can only choose the card you want to deploy from a very limited selection, so there is too much chance involved in how the “battle” plays out.

Edit (November 29th):

I strongly recommend not buying this game, cause there was a server reset that made you loose all cards / allprogress.

Edit (June 22th 2018):

This is a typical 5 lane ccg. Though I really like the play mechanics, I can’t recommend buying the game in it’s current state at full price. It has just too many flaws even for early access. There is a lot to be done, yet and the development pace is really slow. E.g. it took the developers more than 2 month to fix a major bug that made you loose games by an ai-freeze. If you are a ccg enthusiast and can get it on sale for less than 5 bucks it is prolly worth a shot though.

I was going to write a review on this game last night out of frustration but decided to sleep on it and give it a go again today. Not much has changed. The game has some great potential but the balancing is completely out of whack, as many have stated.

Once you start the game for the first time they force you to select a race. There is minimal information given as to what each race entails. Furthermore, once you selct that race, you are stuck with that race… FOREVER. Since seeing what other races have to offer, I wish I had selected differently.

Blood of Titans

So i see most reviews are from people with 2 hours so i will be the first actual player to write a real review, let me start by saying the game is free, you can choose to play for absolutely nothing, now that being said, just like any other game released on steam, you can pay for more, are there expensive single cards in the shop? yes. do you need to buy them? no. should you buy them? no.

This is a strategy game, if you aren’t good at strategy you will lose a lot, the strategy lacks a lot of depth but it is there, and you can really notice the difference once you figure out a play style and learn to counter different things. it is the general nature of a card game to know that one specific card will not beat another, if you cannot learn this you will not find success in this game.

Hmm were to start ?

First at all it not really PTW it has elements like the most games in steam , you can reach even all cards ( right now common , uncomman , rare , epic , legandary ) in only playing the story line , with all i mean even the legendary and you have to pay nothing for … its right that there are cards with 15 $ or 30 $ , but do you have to buy them - no … so before act like a cry baby ( as a read the most negativ reviews with not really a background ) , try to get some knowledge over the game , before speak up again , to pay for a game and think you would be NO.1 will never work without knowledge , … so in all - its a nice game not perfect , its new , the art style is awsome you can collect card pieces (copie from your card) to make your card stronger and the animation changes too , there permanent new events - the are allways free , give it a try ; )
