Wow wow wow

This beautiful game is just truly SOMETHING else I gotta say.

Really cool game wish it had achievements though would make it an even cooler game. Generally the best $1.99 I’ve ever spent on anything in my entire life, very well spoken plus interesting story and also amazing game play. Will definitely spend many hours playing this game later on.

A Guidebook of Babel

A Guidebook of Babel

A Guidebook of Babel is a plot adventure game with butterfly effect at the core. After death, you will soon realize you’ve boarded the Babel…and while this may feel like the twilight zone, you will be given a pen to rewrite the past so future events can unfold. As a place of transition, we care less about your final destination since it’s the journey that matters, right?

Let’s get acquainted first…

[Crew announcement] You are now onboard Babel, a giant cruise tasked with leading you to the afterlife. Take this guide with you to help navigate your new surroundings. But first, in order to properly welcome you onboard, the crew will first discharge your memories and power up the Giant Boiler to prepare for departure!

You will need to know how it works in order to complete the Guidebook adventure log:

  • Butterfly Effect

This is an unusual journey, but you’ll be able to piece everything together in the end. I hope. While you’re at it, you’ll realize you can rewind and fast forward to a point in time to rewrite the story. It’s entirely up to you to decide

  • Multiple Perspectives

Relax…everyone here is a friend of mine, so sit back and let them tell you their stories. Soon you’ll find that their separate perspectives may be intertwined.

  • Unpredictable Outcomes

The consequences of triggering the butterfly effect are utterly unpredictable as even the smallest change could drastically alter the future. With that much power in your hands, who is really telling the story here? You or me?

You may feel like you’ve landed in Bizarro World, but I assure you’ll soon find Babel an extraordinary place to be. I don’t mean to brag…but here’s what you can expect:

A series of “unfortunate” events

A story-rich adventure that takes off the moment you land on Babel. But the afterlife is not a dull place, you will soon find yourself intertwined in drama and mishaps that requires your full attention.

Comedic art style with an original soundtrack

With a touch of inspired lunacy and nostalgia, you’ll be guaranteed an immersively entertaining yet unconventional experience on the Babel.

Choices really matter

An interpretation of butterfly effect where your choices will have a rippling effect on story progression, we’re counting on you!

Light-hearted yet deserving reflection

A heart-warming adventure while exploring themes of life, death, family and letting go…

I really enjoyed Trials and Traces: The Tomb of Thomas Tew, an earlier game by this developer, Because Because. It’s not available on Steam as of the writing of this review, but it is available over on itch.io. It was a nice little gem within a collection of other independent adventure games, with turned out to be a great purchase, because it put games like Death Has a Million Stomping Boots and Beard in the Mirror on my radar.

When Because Because released Detective Boiled-Hard, I jumped on it right away. This game is a bit on the shorter side, clocking in at about 90 minutes of play – but it’s a solid and enjoyable (and fully voice-acted!) 90 minutes. Detective Boiled-Hard never once pretends to be a serious game of any sort. It fully embraces bad jokes, self-referential humor, so-bad-they’re-amazing celebrity impersonations, and insane situations.

James Peris: Sin licencia ni control - Edición definitiva

James Peris: Sin licencia ni control - Edición definitiva

This is a Spanish language (with some English translation) classical point-and-click adventure game with a hand drawn cartoon art style, and various bad taste jokes throughout the game. Looks like I get to write the first English review!

The concept isn’t bad and the hand drawn cartoon art is reasonably well done. The key problem here is that despite a 2012 release, there’s no widescreen support for the game (was it developed on old 4:3 CRT monitors??), so it falls below minimum standards for a PC game, then and now. I certainly hope the artists and writers go on to do better things, and it’s a shame the game doesn’t meet basic standards for modern PC games.

2020 Speedy Review Cleanup

Do I highly recommend this game? No.

But Landflix Odyssey is interesting solely for its parody aspects about the shows. Each show has its own mechanics so that it doesn’t feel like you’re doing the same thing throughout the game.

Worth a try on sale if you’re interested in the show aspects. If you don’t care about the shows, probably look elsewhere.

Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People: Season 1

Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People: Season 1

Homestar Runner.com has been quiet for a long time but you can relive the everyday life of strong bad, homestar runner and all the other characters in this easy point and click adventure game.

If you were a big fan of Monkey Island, Sam and Max or Day of the Tentacle, You’ll well understand the gameplay and creative thinking required for this adventure. Your HUD is simple too, You have your inventory of strange random objects that you pick up along the way, There is some collectables along the way for those who wanna get that 100% completion rating of the game. And just your mouse pointer which helps you choose where to walk, and what to intereact with.

As I have now actually completed all five episodes of Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People: Season 1, I can give the game a proper review instead of just saying that it’s a cool game for attractive people, even though, you know, it kind of is.

First of all, we’ll get this out of the way: Unless you are a fan of the Homestar Runner universe, there is a probability that you won’t enjoy this game. It makes endless references and jokes related to the series that you wouldn’t understand unless you’ve seen some of the episodes in question. That isn’t to say that you shouldn’t buy it just because you might not understand some of the jokes though, either way this game is extremely funny and the humour is very dry, as you would expect from a game where you’re controling Strong Bad.

Crystal Shard Adventure Bundle

Crystal Shard Adventure Bundle

These are 3 great little P+C Puzzle/Adventure games for a great price

(Emphasis on the “puzzle” aspect.) Each game takes place in a “small” world (~6 screens or so), but the tagline on Steam is a little misleading: they can only be called “short adventure games” after you’ve figured out exactly what to do: they can be fiendishly difficult, in the style of classic Sierra games. “Short” does not mean “casual” – an unaided playthrough is going to take a while. Each game also has interestingly different mechanics:

Very nice bunch of adventures! They all share pretty graphics, great voice acting and very interesting plot.

Quest for Yrolg. Very funny and well thought-out game. The puzzles remind those of early Sierra : easy to do, but hard to figure out. Features some realtime sequiences.

Starship Quasar. IMHO, the best game in the pack. Classic adventure with an interesting twist.

Larry Lotter and the Test of Time. Idea is great. Vice acting is amazing. Very hard to solve for those who prefer time-unrestricted adventuring.

Pizza Titan Ultra

Pizza Titan Ultra

Pizza Titan Ultra Review

Pizza Titan Ultra or the Crazy Taxi/Jet Set Radio/Blast Corps of mech based pizza delivery games (I have no idea what that means tbh with you) is a game, (brilliant observation there) where you are trying to save the world or you’re just meet some random person’s odd requests while delivering Pizza or are just trying to deliver as much pizza & get as much money as possible under a time limit.

Gameplay & Level Design

Gameplay is simple but addictive & a tun of fun!

All there really is to it is a simple combat system of 3 different punch maneuvers, a stomp maneuver, a slide kick, a drop kick, & a special ability.

Real player with 78.6 hrs in game

A VERY long awaited review for this game, but here goes nothing. It’s basically if Crazy Taxi and the robot from Megas XLR had a kid and added pizza.

The gameplay is simple enough to enjoy, but not too simple to where it’s boring. You deliver pizzas in a giant mech, which increases your amount of time for you to be able to deliver more pizzas and complete other objectives in the process. There are also yellow clock items that can also increase your time (as opposed to just delivering pizzas) and money spread around the map that can be used to customize your mech in the garage with new parts and colors. Now you might be asking something along the lines of “what’s the kicker here?” Well, being a giant robot pizza delivery service still has competition that is preventing you from achieving your goals. There are enemies that will attempt to prevent you from completing your objectives, but thankfully you’re able to fight back with a variety of different abilities; some of which you unlock in the game through buying customizations for your mech. Your missions will also vary from destroying everything in your path (while delivering pizza) to avoiding destroying anything (also while delivering pizza) to simply just delivering a certain number of pizzas. Each section has a challenge that you can attempt to complete, but it’s not mandatory for you to complete them.

The Adventures of Fatman

The Adventures of Fatman

A story about a fat dude that tries to be Batman (and somewhat succeeds).

There are tons of tropes in this game, both well and terribly done, but overall I liked it. The villain, the sidekick, the SCUMM inventory system, the art direction, classic Sierra death scenes, some Easter eggs, etc. The voice overs are good, but they suffer from poor production values - tons of ambient noise + distorted audio that could be prevented with a simple EQ pass and compression.

Most of the game and its puzzles are well thought, except for some contraventions here and there, which I don’t know if were made to mock the player or it’s just bad design - i.e. when you need to change suits, it gets annoying super super fast. Showing only 4 items in the inventory system is too constraining, should have been expanded to at least 6.

Classic point-‘n’-click adventure that old-school fans of the genre will like

When I think back about a game I’ve played and can remember its plot and characters with fondness, I think it’s fair enough to say that such a game is worth recommending. Fatman is one such game.

It isn’t going to win any awards for graphics, innovation, sound, gameplay and what have you, but for its price, Fatman delivers a decent enough package of entertainment. The story is told with a touch of lighthearted humour, which worked for me. Puzzles were mostly not bad - exactly the type one can expect of a typical adventure game. And Fatman himself, as the protagonist, grows on you with time. There are also a couple of easter eggs to be found that contribute to the number of points you earn.
