Cpt.Balloney - painful days at home

Cpt.Balloney - painful days at home

This game has a lot to love!

Firstly, allow me to say, i hold the keyless world record speedrun for Cpt.Balloney - painful days at home.

I have beaten the game numerous times, and to summarize, it is very charming in a very certain kind of way. As advertised, the game does have; graphics, animations, sounds, music and story

I had the soundtrack of the game stuck in my head for days after playing, very catchy.

The game play is scarcely explained, however that adds to the charm the game offers through its simple communication through visuals. The tightly knit plot and short duration lend nicely to the relaxing vibe of the game. The puzzles can be confusing at times, but the solutions always left me with a massive grin.

If you need a quick, stupid laugh or want to bash your head in from the graphics of poorly done MS paint and pixel art combined than this is the game for you. If you have a couple of bucks to spare and about 30-45 mins to waste then this will surely help. Go into this game expecting lower than the minimum of what you would have expected from this game.

Freud’s Bones-the game

Freud’s Bones-the game

Freud’s Bones is a narrative-driven adventure that wants to pay homage to the birth of psychoanalysis and its founder Sigmund Freud.

Immerse yourself in his mind and discover the mystery behind his crisis.

Investigate disturbing Egyptian artifacts, philosophical puzzles, and perverse sexual disorders in this unprecedented indie adventure.

Born as a highly successful Kickstarter project, winner of the Red Bull Indie Forge Award 2020, Italian finalist in the Nordic Game Contest 2021; Freud’s Bones is developed by a single person, with the collaboration of a few friends.

“I believe that Freud is in crisis and that without a faithful friend, he will end up being swallowed up by his ghosts.”

Carl Jung

Freud finds a strange Egyptian artifact on his desk, that “comes to life” during the night showing him threatening and disturbing philosophical puzzles. This drives him crazy and makes him paranoid by making him believe that he is being persecuted…

Sigmund is used to solving his patients' crises, but this time he will have to help himself dig deep inside himself and understand the real reason for his paranoia.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, you came to his office right in the middle of his crisis.

Thanks to you, Freud may be able to overcome it…

Because of you, Freud may never get out of it.

Psychoanalyse Freud’s patients and explore their unconscious, to discover their hidden dreams, their obsessions, as well as the causes of their sexual disturbances.

Thanks to your help they could finally heal…

Because of your mistakes, they could collapse into a whirlwind of pain.

By helping Freud treat his patients, you will analyze their troubled minds. Through their illness, you will learn how our mind behaves in such circumstances. By confronting each personality, together with them, you will discover the depths of human sexuality.

Live Freud’s everyday life by accompanying him in his routine: read the letters he receives every morning, give him a few moments of relaxation to smoke his beloved cigars or to drink a sip of cocaine.

Accompany him to the Eckman Café to meet patrons who could finance his project or go on the nocturnal walks among the palaces of Vienna.

The id, ego, and super-ego are a set of three concepts in the psychoanalytic world describing unique, interacting personalities in the mind of the person. The three agents are theoretical constructs that describe the activities and interactions of the mental life of a person.

Id (represents instinct) - the hungry minotaur:

The Id is entirely unconscious, is the only component of personality that is present from birth. It is the source of all psychic energy and obtains pleasure unconditionally.

Superego (represents morality) - the merciless general:

The Superego assimilates social laws and, through them, a sense of guilt. Punishes the ego when it decides to transgress the rules which Id craves.

Ego (represents reality) - a puppet that aspires to freedom:

The ego is the center of consciousness. Constantly subjected to the demands of the Id and the pressing reproaches of the superego, while being forced to deal with reality.

Fortuna “Axel Fox” Imperatore worked in a cleaning company while completing her studies in Psychology and Philosophy.

Obsessed by her love of video games and psychoanalysis, she decided to put her mantra into practice: “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish” and combine her greatest passions into a project, Freud’s Bones which was born from a rickety old laptop and through a myriad of adventures.

In 2020, the Kickstarter campaign tripled its goal, raising €15,500 from all over the world. Alone, and equipped with a sense of stubbornness and craziness, Fortuna quit her job, she invested her salary and dedicated her body and soul to her first work.

Invictus: In the Shadow of Olympus

Invictus: In the Shadow of Olympus

Well, seems there is no review yet, I Bought this game for this is my first game on PC, I’d say the graphics still the same when I was a child well it is not remastered.

The story begins where you can choose two heroes and as you progress you can then again, select another heroes, it is up to four heroes you can use, when your hero dies you can never revive them. Also, you can have some foot soldiers.

Oh the story is about gods, where Poseidon wants to kill Athena’s hero.

The price is cheap I think, good if you really like strategy game. Working on Win10 64bit intelcorei7 NVIDIA

This game is a mix of RPG and RTS based on Greek Mythology, it’s not an easy game but it is great fun if you learn it’s mechanic. This game is much deeper than avarage RTS:

  1. Every level is like part of the ancient world with it’s people living in it, but you don’t have to be hero, you can kill everyone instead helping them.

  2. Every unit in the game has name, health and expirience. And nobody want to die for nothing. So it’s up to you - whether you kill or save them.

Pavilion

Pavilion

Pavilion looks surreal, and as the game is about being a in dream-like world (or someone having a mental breakdown) they got it down to a T.

Text:

The good is that pavilion looks absolutely stunning and has some of the most relaxing gameplay I’ve encountered. Obviously, provided that you don’t get frustrated at doing puzzles.

If you enjoy beautiful scenery, great sound and amazing atmosphere - then Pavilion has that in droves. It was able to capture my imagination like very few games can, and had me speculating on the significance of every nook and cranny.

This game lands just past the border on the positive side, I’m a bit mixed.

The presentation, the main menu all that is “looks” is either good or amazing. The options are quite limited, there is no music on/off, not that the music is bad, it’s fine, but this game yells relative interpretation so I’d love to listen to other things while playing it.

Now, here’s the thing. It’s a puzzle game afterall.

The controls are… fine, you have to guide* the character while turning on/off lights, moving objects and ringing bells. So *there’s no WASD. Sometimes those interactions are further then where our guy is and just moving the cursor there moves the whole camera. It gets a bit odd to move back and forth while completing a timed puzzle where a fixed camera would’ve been better without sacrificing any challenge.

Small Saga

Small Saga

Venture below the streets of London, and you will find the medieval kingdom of rats, mice, moles, squirrels, and shrews known as Rodentia.

If the rodents have a cardinal law, it is this: never attack a god. But Verm never had much respect for the rule of law. His tail was stolen by the Yellow God of Death, and now the mouse will have to fight all manner of beasts and titans on his quest to get it back.

Features:

  • Team up with a colorful cast of misfit rodents.

  • Encounter awe-inspiring titans. Clash with a swashbuckling water vole, a pious lab rabbit, a poetry-spewing kraken, and many more.

  • Meet the hideous vermin who run society, then overthrow them.

  • Brandish your tiny weapons in strategic, turn-based combat.

  • There are no random encounters, and no grinding. This game is all about a rich story and memorable boss fights.

Steamburg

Steamburg

Steamburg is a game made by an video game artist, and I don’t mean that in an abstract way. The game looks fantastic, sounds great and even has some very competent voice acting, but the gameplay/AI/everything to do with programming is quite terrible. Now it is playable and hasn’t crashed on me but the movement or throwing stuff around(the only things you really do) are not what I would call competent let alone good. It is clunky as hell.

Just to list a couple more things hitboxes feel inconsistent at best and incomprehensible at worst; the bulk of the game consists of very simple, uninspired and fully execution-based puzzles/levels; the enemies barely differ from each other AI-wise. And so forth.

Real player with 5.0 hrs in game

Steamburg wouldn’t be a bad game is it weren’t for the sticky, sluggish controls! The character sticks to nothing, moves like a slug and it adds artificial difficulty to the game. It’s just asinine of the developers not to make the game mechanics function better. As with too many indie titles, the controls ruin the game.

The Final Battle

The Final Battle

Genre - Retro Text and Picture based RPG

Used to love this game on my Atari ST (with higher quality images) as a kid.

It’s nice to be able to play it again, for the nostalgia factor. I was never able to complete it without a full guide. Luckily I can’t remember much about the puzzles though.

The controls were confusing at first, but think I get them now (use single/double/right click and drag and drop). If you lose a party member you will need to reload or restart, and it is easy to lose them (including not saving them quick enough at the start).
