Cat Fish Island
TLDR at the end of the review.
This is a chill, exploration game. It is short, you can get 100% completion in one hour.
Before I played this game, I was having a pretty bad game, but this game helped make my day a little bit better. You are an adveturer searching for legends and new experiences, and that’s when you arrive to the island in search of a legendary fish. The story is pretty simple and childish, but it doesn’t worsen the experience.
Gameplay: It’s okay, sometimes it feels a bit luck based, but if you use some technique you can easily catch any fish. The exploration is pretty good and smooth, allowing you to enjoy the island.

This is a cool, adorable, charming platformer that becomes quite challenging in the last level. It controls well, the music is awesome, and it emulates the game boy feel perfectly.
The main mechanic is your bombs are used as makeshift platforms, and as your weapon. You have to manage them well, especially on bosses - because getting stuck in an area when your bombs are on cooldown is almost a sure death sentence. It’s very engaging and I loved it.
This is an easy recommendation for anyone, and especially if you like platformers.

Early Access review of Version 0.5
A fun little game, I lost it in less than 3 hours! I wouldn’t say it’s worth the full five bucks yet, but it easily could be [worth more than that] by the time it gets to v1.
Seems to be updated about once a month, most of the complaints in the other posts are no longer applicable. It’s not perfect, duh, it’s not even v1 yet. I do plan to head over to the Discussions next to express some of my ideas on how to improve it.
I guess everyone likes a procon list, so I’ll try one. This is based only on my first playthrough.

The game is all about fishing and running your own boat for sure. There are multiple types of nets and fish and fishing areas to be had so its not just the same all over the map. There is some definite strategy needed if you want to succeed at this game. My youngest loves fishing games but this one is more like temple run in that you can’t just be casual about fishing at the start because you need 5000 by day 20 and then 35000 by the next day 20. I had about 10 various nets going around an island and I couldn’t break 10,000 thanks to my characters needing to sleep so much. You really only have about 7 days when you take out the 8 hours they need to sleep each day or pass out at the helm (yah!) I suppose if I played this enough times I would get good at it but after failing twice now I think I will just move on to something else. I’ve played other debt payback games and have not figured out how to make the best bang for my buck and time in this one. Maybe hints or character dialog could give some pointers to new players? Overall a good strategy game though.

Don’t listen to the reviews on the discussion page, this game is fantastic, simple casual style gameplay your not racing any timers or must have done by this time drama, take your time. If your low on in game currency buy a few fishing boats wait a day you’ll have more money instantly. Then buy more boats level up repeat.

Moonglow Bay
A really fun and relaxing game.
I’m a bit sad it has such a mixed review score.
There’s not really a big challenge to anything you do ingame, however to me this was perfectly fine.
I wanted to play a really laid back game, which is exactly what Moonglow Bay seemed to be.
And I got even more.
You can just chill, catch a few fish, cook, collect pieces of the story behind your character and the citizens of the bay.
You’ll progress through quite the variety of biomes and there’s lots of interesting fish to find, that all have nice little myths the people of the bay affiliate them with.

I really can’t recommend the game in it’s current state. There’s just too many bugs ranging from small visual things to currently unfixable softlocks. I’m currently stuck, unable to progress through a bossfight because it simply won’t continue. I see too many other issues like this in the game’s discord as well. Keyboard support seems like a very last moment addition; on launch, the controls were wonky and you couldn’t even save your game. They updated the controls, but there’s still no way to rebind anything. The game also doesn’t use the mouse, which is strange for a game with analog input in sections. I really wish this game had had some sort of early access/open beta period to iron out the more obvious and game-breaking issues before launch.

Deadliest Catch: The Game
UPDATE BETA 1.1.78
The change log has some good stuff in it. Many things have been fixed. But, and I can’t emphasize this enough, UNTIL YOU FIX THE SAVE GAME OPTION I WON’T PLAY. Clicking save game does nothing but put you in an endless click “accept” to travel dialog.
1.1.52 was pretty close to fully playable with one major hook-hangup bug that meant ultimately you’d get stuck and would want to go back to a save game from before the hook got stuck.
FIX THE SAVE GAME OPTION - IT’S BEEN BROKE ALL YEAR. THEN THE OTHER BUGS WOULDN’T ANNOY ME SO MUCH.

UPDATE: Since writing this review, the new devs have introduced themselves in the Discord, and have been putting out patches in order to help the game play. They have been more talkative in Discord, and more open about what is going on behind the scenes. While the game is still not (in my opinion) ready for release, at least the devs are talking and putting in the effort to show us that they do care. I still cannot in good faith recommend this game as a full release until it is ready. I will update again later on down the road.
