Fiendish Thieves

Fiendish Thieves

A short interactive horror movie about 2 thieves that search for vintage items in an abandoned warehouse. The movie is a perfect mix between Home alone and Frankenstein with a lot of slapstick humor!

Fiendish Thieves is a short game that can be finished in under an hour, but multiple playthroughs are required to see all of the different scenes. I would say the game leans more on the side of comedy. If you’re a fan of B-movie horror, then this should be right up your alley.

Kamile: The Fall

Kamile: The Fall

The basic premise of the game is that of your character being bullied by AI-based organization. You are sent in to a mysterious location to question the experts of the organization and acquire as much information as possible for the sake of your own rescue mission. But you soon find out that you are trapped and your mission is now to escape. Kamile VR is short but highly recommended. I would make more interactions in the kitchen area.

Playtime is short but you don’t need more. It’s like a short movie - the narrative is full of information, 20 minutes ir enough. If you wanna more, you can go back and explore more props, listem to audio diaries, etc. I would recommend to make selectin of minchapters in menu. Great story. A catchy soundtrack and excellent art style will ensure you feel like Bladerunneresque era.

Do I highly recommend this game? No.

But Landflix Odyssey is interesting solely for its parody aspects about the shows. Each show has its own mechanics so that it doesn’t feel like you’re doing the same thing throughout the game.

Worth a try on sale if you’re interested in the show aspects. If you don’t care about the shows, probably look elsewhere.

Portal 2 - The Final Hours

Portal 2 - The Final Hours

I bought this game along with Portal and Portal 2. I read a little bit of it earlier but I really read a lot yesterday (I was on a plane, hence the low playtime,) and even finished it. Portal 2 - The Final Hours covers the development, release and post release of Portal 2 inside of Valve. If you like betas, like the Half-Life 2 beta, this is for you. I also reccomend checking out The Final Hours of Half-Life 2. Look it up online and there is a free version.

What makes this so different, though? For starters, it includes interactive content. The second picture (Destroy Aperture) is my favourite, as you can use the mouse to destroy some areas in Aperture Laboratories! There is also music that you can listen to, like the songs that inspired the soundtrack of Portal 2, and lots of pictures. There are chapters and polls even.

This is my very first interactive e-book. I’m a bit suspect to say anything regarding this e-book (since I’m a crazy lover of the Portal series - and of Valve, their brilliant creators), but I loved this SO MUCH! I was honestly expecting more of a screenshots/pictures showcase and a few gadgets here and there with a little bit of text, but reading about each team and each developer of this game and the problems they’ve faced in this journey was an amazing experience. I always admired Valve products, even before falling in deep love with Portal, and I knew making games as part of such a huge (and world-class famous) company was a tough task, but I REALLY underestimated how complex the process of game creation could be.

Meteor

Meteor

This is the “This Is Spinal Tap” of videogames, and while I can’t decide if it’s inentional t’s an absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word.

If it’s satire, it flawlessly finds it’s mark, riding that perfect line of subtletly that keeps you guessing around every corner. If it’s NOT satire, then it is a congruent combination of insanity leylines so mindblowingly implausible that it belongs in a fucking museum.

Play this game. Period.

Very hard game !

Lot of enemies and they kill you very fast but your weapon is efficient so just retaliate and fight for your survive !

Graphics are kinda cool but what made me buy this game is surreal atmosphere, it truly puts me in another time and space.

All in all, thumbs up, might not be for everyone but I liked it !

THE STORY

A “classic” hit ‘n run case or at least it seems like. Play the detective’s role and try to solve the case with your assistant, Susan. Pay attention to the details during your investigation, find the clues and evidence, complete the puzzle and be sure you are ready to face your demons and answer all the questions, since your life depends on it…

The Great C

The Great C

This short adventure cinematic is well-made, though it has some of that “indie” charm to remind that it has been made by a small team of enthusiasts, rather than a heavy-hitter like ILMxLab. Most of the characters’ animations are motion-captured performances, though there are plenty of character movements that are stilted and robotic, which were obviously manually-animated. The characters are cartoony, but expressive. And don’t let the character designs fool you… this story is not for young children.

Not quite long enough to be called a movie and not quite short enough as the Google spotlight shorts. At 38 minutes long it’s almost as long as an episode of most series.

The story is good and the actors are quite believable. Graphically it looks a lot like Telltale (rip) games. Which kinda makes me sad that I’ll never see that studio dive into VR.

VR cinematic experiences are quite new and there is a lot of experimentation involved. Some of it really works, like the building case scene, where trying to follow both characters creates tension, or the final confrontation, where the scale of C really can be appreciated. Some of it doesn’t, like suddenly you feel like an ant watching giants and the next moment a giant watching ants. But that cam be expected in such a new medium.

Systematic Insanity

Systematic Insanity

This is not a game.

If you cannot speed read do NOT buy this!!!!

This is a basic “modern media” project that would be regularly seen in the late 1980’s to the early 2000’s as a “media arts” project requirement in North American universities.

That being said it is visually well done.

however:

a) all interaction is disabled entirely except during “dating game” style dialogues.

this is a major issue since the speed of the dialogues is far to high so even a person like me that can absorb the entire LOTR + The Hobbit in under 25 hours of reading still misses nearly 1/4 of the dialogue

The Book of Distance

The Book of Distance

What can I say that hasn’t been said already?

About 30 minutes, not much to “do” but so much to read & feel.

You’ll need a solid 1.5m x 1.5m space to get the full effect.

Ok, enough with the technical stuff…

Such a wonderful VR experience!!! Just wow.

It resonated with me so much, (lens got foggy, something in my eye…both eyes, weird) as I am first generation after my father immigrated to the United States.

He worked very hard & for almost nothing for decades to provide for our family. We were very poor, no Nike’s or name brand stuff but always had food.

This game is a great way to introduce VR to beginners.

Truth be told I did not believe the other review when they said it will make u cry.

The first 3 minutes when i played this the atmosphere just captured my attention and It made me teared up because of the ambient. From the tone of the narrator to his father’s point of view. It got me on edge. Granted there are a few flaws in the game. But from the way The game was made and told You know that the developers wanted to capture the story telling. Making an immersive experience. Keep in mind that this story is a sad one.
