Summarized version below!

I consume way too many of these narrative-driven games for my own good, but Iā€™m always on the lookout for one that tries to do something new, something cool - so I was excited to give Road 96 a look.

Note: Trimmed review to fit character limit, check video for full version!

Gameplay:

Road 96 is basically a more involved ā€œchoose your own adventureā€-type game. There are decisions to make and these decisions end up affecting what path you go down and what ending you get. You donā€™t just play as one protagonist, but multiple. There is a small cast of recurring characters you will meet along this journey and thatā€™s where the meat of the game lies.

It’s really good. Like most “choice” based games, no, there isn’t as much variety in actual gameplay as was originally suggested in the trailer. Many of the games roughly 200-300 conversations play out similarly in one playthrough to the next, but they may occur at different points in your journeys, and with different people. I would say that is better than most of these types of games allowā€¦think Life is Strange, Firewatch etc, where you are on rails for pretty much the entire game and there are only changes in the flavor text as a result of your meticulously thought over actions.

Booth: A Dystopian Adventure

Booth: A Dystopian Adventure

I saw this game in the recommended on YouTube and I just clicked it and after 10 seconds I felt the vibe and I said I have to buy it. There are very few people who have reviewed this game or have done videos and tutorials about it and I feel like I fell on a gem here. Great atmosphere, 2036, you’re playing as Ned Crawford a Food Inspector that works directly for the government and your task is to live in a booth and do your work, all the time. It may seem boring, but along the days you start to meet other characters, which are all very detailed and have their own personalities, I found myself having a voice for every character and it made it much more immersive. The whole setup of a Dystopian point & click game was always the thing for me, and people want to compare it to Papers Please, but for me it’s much more in depth than Papers Please, who only focuses on the task and not much on storyline. The tasks are challenging and you have to be fast and cautious sometimes. I don’t want to spoil anything, but EVERY decision you make, every Item you take and everything you do has consequences, so beware of that, that’s part of the fun. I absolutely loved this and I could easily sit and play it and not even notice the time pass. So, I don’t really like 1-10 / 1-5 ratings, all I’m going to say is, if you have 15$ and want to support great creators for a great game that will make it worth your time and money, do itā€¦. Papi out.

First off, I want to say that the fact that Booth is not getting much, much more attention is criminal. Booth has an excellent narrative, and very engaging story, interesting and functional graphics style, great music, and the setting is just so unique and cool. I really felt as if I was working the night shift (mostly) alone and doing my job 3000 feet above the ocean in a booth tethered only by cordsā€¦miles from anywhere. My occasional visitors became friends. The drama and events that occurred engrossed me completely, allowing me to feel both a sense of humanity for those I could help, along with an all-pervasive fear of Big Brother watching me the entire time. Booth is a game much in the tradition of “Papers Please” but in my firm opinion, builds upon the formula and is an even better game than its predecessor. I came into this experience not expecting much. That being said, this game moved me, engrossed me, terrified me, soothed me, and totally suspended my disbelief. It is one of if not my favorite game I have played this year and I will not soon forget my experience. It is certainly the dark horse indie game of the decade. By all means, play this game. NOW!! It deserves to be played and it needs much more recognition than it is getting. Bravo! 5/5

This is a mixed review.

I have no idea what I played. I can kinda recommend it as a “so bad it’s good” kind of game.

The gameplay is fine. On higher difficulties, there are traps similar to what you might see in “I wanna be the guy”. I like these games, but I understand that some people might hate it.

When enemies hit you, you are stunned. Also, when multiple enemies hit you in a certain way, you might get stunlocked. I still don’t like that a single enemy sometimes hits you twice rapidly.

CD Projekt Red did deliver the promised version of Cyberpunk 2077, but changed the name to Cyberemo 2007. This game has top notch music, no bugs and comes with stunning graphics!

As a bonus, it comes with the movies ā€˜Cabin in the Woodsā€™ and ā€˜Casino Royaleā€™ and the beloved ā€˜Crab Peopleā€™ from ā€˜Southeparkā€™. Also featuring the A+ game ā€˜The Last of Usā€™.

Did I already mentioned the mini game ‘Duck Hunt’?

The Moment of Silence

The Moment of Silence

This is reasonably constructed point and click adventure with some good points but it has some serious flaws that make the price of Ā£14 way too expensive. If you find it on a half price sale it is worth considering.

The premise of this game is that you are a man in New York who, soon after moving into a new apartment, observes a police squad forcefully arresting and abducting his neighbour while his terrified wife amd son look on. In your attempt to support the man’s family you discover all sorts of strange facts that suggest dark and conspiratorial motives for his arrest.

House of Tales games are basically enhanced movies. They exist for the story alone. They aren’t going to give you lots of puzzles or even lots of inventory items. It’s all about the story. Overclocked was one of the better stories in any adventure game. It had me dying to know what happened next. I’m hopeful this one will do the same.

The guy voicing our hero sounds like the same guy from the Overclocked game. Captain Doom. Everything is wrong all the time. One thing that bugs me is the kid Tommy. Why does he have a German accent while his parents are American? That just seems like a very stupid error to make. Unless he was adopted fairly recently, there’s no reason for that. Takes you out of the game. In fact all of the actors seem to be Germans putting on American accents. It comes out at the strangest times. They range from halfway decent to caricatures of what a German actor would think a New Yorker should sound like. A few of them are almost comical in how bad they are at acting which keeps things interesting.

The game runs pretty smoothly, graphics are great. Even though this is just the first 30minutes of the whole game, I think the developers did a great job. I was slightly bit disappointed when I found out you couldn’t edit the in-game volume; this is just a demo so that doesn’t really matter. For anybody else who is reading this, you can turn the camera in all four angles for a better view. you just have to use the number keypad which is on the right side of most keyboards. and don’t forget to “buy buy buy"a game reference-

Where do I even begin. This game is not only a masterpiece. I just might have grown a bit taller after playing this and i don’t mean my height. HHAHAHA. Yes I wouldn’t say it was an easy game but for normal people they are gonna have a hard time. The metaphors not only emphasize how lonely I am but how depressed as well. Yes in every scene a new metaphor for our existence is brought to life. Yes. And i think I was married before this game but now I have no kids, NO wife. My brain hurts. HELP ME! But yeah, crazy, scary game that makes me want to question my existence agaain. AGAIN

You’re classic point&click adventure game with a 2.5D aspect.

As a whole, the story is good, but not great. It felt more like a prototype concept game than a complete game. Some puzzles can be a little challenging if you happen to miss something in particular.

The game and story starts out to be intriguing and feels like there is a lot of content and story to explore.

As the game gradually progress, the scripts shows signs of weakness. Even the narration goes off beat and weak like if the voice actors lost interest or didn’t care anymore. It feels like the writer was rushed or didn’t know where to go with the story.

ā€“ Real player with 16.9 hrs in game

I don’t know what to rate this, honestly. The story is contrived in areas and no one really acts like a real human being but the atmosphere is interesting. They obviously push the story forward by skipping really ‘gaining’ trust to be guided by characters. Regardless, I like it for what it is so far BUT you can technically interact with items before the game deems you allowed and you will receive a false flag like there’s nothing to do there with a comment completely different than when you’ve taken the ‘right’ steps to interact finally. There’s no real way to know you’re looking at something too early, either. On top of this I experienced MULTIPLE crashes per game play. In fact, I took time out from my game crash now to write this. I have to skip the constant train ride cut scenes (that play every time you travel to a new area) just to keep it from crashing and it wouldn’t even start up the first 10 or so times I tried to run the game. It’s a frustrating experience at times and you need to be prepared to deal with that.

Wow. There are very few games that I will play and finish, but this one had me hooked.

Ignore the play time, it didn’t take me that long, I just left it running for a few days.

Ministry of Broadcast can be described as a platform puzzle adventure game. Graphically it’s simplistic, with pixel art, and very few options. Full screen or not. If you choose to have it not full screen, the window is tiny. Other than that, the graphics are serviceable, and in most cases, quite good. Would I like to see a higher res game? Yeah, sure, but these work and work well.

MoB was a very interesting game I played the gameplay was great but in some areas i felt that the animations or the actions Orange made were a bit slow for the challenges they gave - more specifically in areas where there was a “timer” or where whatever you on was falling. Its kinda hard to keep up with these challenges when it takes 2 or 3 whole seconds just to get up. You could make these a bit faster or maybe you could give orange i-frames aswell during these small actions. Or you could make some of these sections with a lower timer and add more thought to the section rather than reflexes like most of the game is based around. The puzzles were REALLY well made and thought out which is the biggest chunk of the game. Its usually trying to find a way around something which can be difficult or maybe easy. Even when you mess up the game is very fair with check points and if you permanently get stuck you can always reset the puzzle which is usually where your checkpoint started. I don’t recall anytime you could get stuck like that but if you did rewind is always there. The difficulty always progresses at a good pace and the game doesn’t throw you with a huge difficulty spike. The game rewards patience and looking at your surroundings as well as out of the box thinking. However while this is great for the type of game it is I felt like the puzzles and challenges never did give more than one option to do get over a puzzle or obstacle. Aside from a very small portion i feel that the game could use more than one way to solve an issue Orange has to face. Like you can still have it puzzle oriented but also reward different ways to do a puzzle. I say this because I feel like after you beat the game there isn’t much reason to go back to it other than the boots because once you know how to get through the puzzle the challenge is gone. In other games with puzzles like these like say zelda. Zeldas main focus isnt just dungeons and puzzles meaning theres way more reasons to go back to it even though the puzzles are the same. In this game the puzzles make up majority of the gameplay. Now making the challenges challenging while also adding different ways to do them is hard in of itself. So i don’t drag the game for not doing this. Im just offering ways I think it could be improved. Either way the gameplay itself is really well made and polished for their first time making a game. Now the story is a bit confusing with not much details or explanation given. But i really think that actually adds more to the atmosphere of this dystopian. Which the atmosphere is really on point. It nails it making you feel immersed. The music is hit or miss or usually quiet but for the same reason it adds a crucial part to the atmosphere so its actually a good thing for the most part. All in all for 15 bucks i’d definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes puzzles or even trying out something new. It brings a lot to offer and it really well made. You’ll have fun with this game if you puzzles or dystopian stories.

Neofeud

Neofeud

A flawed game, but one worth your time.

So full disclosure, Iā€™m quite fond of the creator of this game, Christian Miller and watch his streams from time to time. I will attempt to be as objective as possible and Iā€™m going to cover aspects I like and those I do not in the hopes of providing constructive criticism. I cannot rule out that some bias may influence my review, so take that with a pinch of salt.

As a cyberpunk point and click adventure game, Neofeud appeals to a niche audience and itā€™s this audience I am addressing. I will be using comparisons to other games quite frequently to help my review. Iā€™ve completed the game through five times now, created a Walkthrough and waited until I had every achievement (aside from two which appear glitched for me) before writing this, to ensure I had a thorough understanding of the game, its mechanics, its themes and its message.

This game is a fascinating tour de force that is all the more impressive knowing everything except some of the voice acting was made by one person. A blend of classic cyberpunk sensibilities a la William Gibson and Richard K. Morgan, combined with present-day relevance, it is a game that surpasses pure entertainment into the realm of art, and really needs to be experienced. Neofeud innovates on the sci-fi genre in the way that Neil Blomkamp flipped staple and tired tropes of the genre in District 9 in order to explore the encroaching future of a world stricken with climate change and war-fueled mass migrations. Neofeud examines a Bladerunner-esque reality in which manufactured conscious organisms are produced in hypercorporatized megacities, but in a much more realistic and complex way.

The Plane Effect

The Plane Effect

I loved this game for a great many reasons and I hope you will too!

At its core “The Plane Effect” is a mystery puzzle game that unfolds as you meander through a dreamlike state, which often borders on the surreal and even nightmarish. One should note that this tale is depicted with an amazing artistry that stands unique even among the countless other “artistic indie games” out there, enacting a style that does not act simply as window-dressing but contributes to the experience on a fundamental level. Unlike many games it does not feel as if an artist was just asked to throw some pretty graphics on top of a game but rather that the art was always a core consideration when each of levels were designed.

ā€“ Real player with 17.3 hrs in game

The game is superb, it takes you in a world with an exclusive atmosphere. Itā€™s peculiar and strange. The aim of the game is making you feel lonely and disoriented. It gets his objective completely. If you feel too much alone you can opt to use the GUIDED feature that helps you to overcome every kind of difficulty you may face. The puzzles are ok, the sound controls are missing.

Trajectory

Trajectory

Honestly ā€¦I thought it would be a good game , but ..number 1, I did not get anyone to answer or give me a tip on my queri ( stuck in reactor )..number 2 …graphics and how things happen in the game need to be addressed……example …in the cell room, as you’re walking ( running ) along the wall as you go up the stairs to get into ather rooms , it seems like the wall its two parts and as you get closer ,it turns into an actuall wall……anyway , I believe the game is a one person endevour ( thums up for you ) but , in my opinion …it needs work…….

6.4/10 - Lab rat simulator 2077

Trajectory is quite a neat little game for its price. The graphics are beautiful, and the controls feel tight. A single sitting of the game is very short; but due to the many randomized missions with alternative solutions and easter eggs, there is a lot of replayability for the obsessive completionist, especially for those who want to hunt down every possible ending. The gameplay consist of a fairly large, though somewhat monotonous, variety of puzzles, platforming and similar physics-based challenges and some thematic mini-games.
