Diggles: The Myth of Fenris

Diggles: The Myth of Fenris

Very surprised Diggles/Wiggles has appeared on Steam, but VERY happy it did!

This is an unique game; nothing really compares to it then (20 years ago), and since then no game has been published (to my knowledge) that comes even close to it. So i almost immediatly bought it (again).

Didnt play Wiggles for years as the original sadly wasnt compatible with ‘newer’ Windows-version. (Could play the official Demo a bit longer though.)

Although graphics is a bit outdated and gameplay is quite slow, the game concept is so good, it was and still is the best game i ever played.

WTF!?! Who’s feet do I have to kiss for finally bringing this game to Steam!! If you ever played and enjoyed, Oxygen not Included, and the new early access game, Hammerington, then you will like this game as well. I even purchased those aforementioned games in the hopes to fill the hole this game left in me decades ago. While a bit dated on graphics (released in 2002), the game still has its same charm and is still very playable. By the end of the game, your dwarves will be riding around on hover boards, and brandishing light sabers. How can you go wrong with that? Thank you

Not very good. You will constantly be getting stuck on and in things and it’s very buggy. Just a terrible experience.

All My Gods

All My Gods

If you like games to be a challenge, All My Gods is not for you. No one ever dies and you cannot lose. You build a city and complete quests. You godly power helps a bit. It feels like a cheat at first, but it’s rather annother ressource which slowly refills then used. The game starts with a tutorial, and immediately after the tutorial the game is at its weakest moments. You have to wait quite a lot for stuff to finish. That gets a lot better, because later in the games there are a lot of corners where you can do something. I’m a big fan of casual games, and All My Gods is the best I have been playing this year. The story is not very deep, but the building of the city is really fun. Most casual games I’ve tried this year prevent fun by implementing a slow process and introducting coins/gems/whatever to speeden up things. That only helps temporarily. All My Gods is ok with buying it once and then actually playing and liking the game. I love All My Gods and I will replay it from time to time.

The game looks like an RTS, but it’s not. You build your city, but there’s no real challenge or losing conditions. Running out of food will make people protest. Enemies will wreak havoc, stopping a building’s production. Aside from an in-game acievement for playing for x amount of hours without upsetting your people, there’s no real repercussions for messing up.

The game consists of a single level which plays out linearly until the endgame grind for very expensive decorative buildings. It’s fairly balanced, and playing normally the game will unlock new buildings as you need them. You can still completely break the tutorial by predicting tasks, though.

City of Atlantis

City of Atlantis

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1273100/Builders_of_Greece/

City of Atlantis is an isometric city-building survival game set in the world of the mythical Land of Atlantis. According to legend, the city far surpassed other nations in terms of scientific, military, and economic advancement. One day, however, it vanished from the face of the Earth. Now, after centuries, it re-emerges from the ocean depths.

City management is key. Plan each expansion in such a way that it ensures maximum efficiency of production chains and transportation. Workaround non-workable areas and utilize gathered knowledge to constantly progress and improve. A well-designed city will significantly improve its economic efficiency, greatly increasing your income. Be cautious though! Bad decisions and neglecting certain aspects of city life can result in the tragic death of an entire society.

Atlantis must not fall. Defend your city from tsunamis by building huge water breakers and reinforcing the outer layers. Build defensive structures to fend off armies of ancient warriors from Greece and Egypt. Control the spread of deadly diseases.

The life of the keepers of Atlantis is priceless. Make sure that their work is not interrupted and they are protected from harm. Keep providing them with the necessary tools and create safe working conditions. Citizens are very difficult to replace as their education and experience don’t come cheap. Each will represent a faculty such as military, education, or health. They might excel in many areas such as agriculture, hygiene, architecture, technology, militarism, medicine, politics, commerce, philosophy, or art.

The city of Atlantis has a mission. It must discover and preserve the knowledge of the world. Train and equip heroes who will travel across the land and gather knowledge about the culture, history, law, art, and science. Make sure that you send the right people for the job and ensure that they have the best possible equipment at their disposal.

This Is A Neat Little Game That Has Lots Of Potential. The Gameplay Is Well Made And Very Fun although The Rover is A Bit slow. For The First Version Ever Compiled it has a lot of stuff in it, No Dev Textures or anything like that. Stuff That I Want to be put in the game is Currency instead of straight minerals. I Feel like if you add like a sell Building so you would sell your minerals for cash. You Should Also add different minerals like some minerals sell for more than others. Wins my Steam awards vote.

This is a lovely little set of models and mechanics. I really enjoyed the soft progressions albeit repetitive it was in fact soothing and calming. I see wonderous things to this for to me it has my approval and a good sturdy foundation to build on. For me i’d suggest some more world building (like extra biomes) some crafting mechanics (different ores and minerals) and perhaps even some combat or survival aspect?

Regardless you have my attention with this wee widdle game you have here and I will be monitoring and hoping and wishing you (The Dev Team) all the best keep up the good work. Whatever you all will do with it I’ll look forward to seeing with my eyes.

The Promised Land

The Promised Land

One word review: 8/10 - Lovely! ^_^

Premise:

You are in charge of an adorable little colony: Grow its population, expand its economy, research new technologies to succeed in your search for a legendary treasure.

Gameplay::

You Drag and Drop villagers to assign them to tasks which allows them to specialize in areas like Farming. Starting out simple by gathering basic resources and and trade, you soon unlock many more different resources and buildings. Various special offers and challenges require you to adapt your strategy. In addition, a few minigames offer variation.

The Promised Land is a colony builder game sporting a huge resource management component. Players will frequently encounter an odd-ball assortment of arcade mini-games and puzzle challenges.

The sound is good. The game is fun to play and immersive. The graphics are particularly cute with plenty of humour lavished in some of the animations. There are many incidental references to stereotypes which are presented in an anecdote and comedy fashion.

The player recruits and trains villagers. Villagers specialise in various gathering and manufacturing professions. A few villagers need to be dedicated to research to unlock parts of the skill tree.

I do not have the capacity to explain it in detail at this time, but the quick takeaway is I cannot recommend this game. Good concept, but having to fight glitches/bugs and the occasional bit of anti-player design ruins the experience and makes it drag into terribleness. If you have hearing issues, please be advised that there are key cues that are audio-based without any caption options. If you are colorblind, you will find the visual design even more challenging/impossible and again, there are no accessibility options. Considering that settings rarely stick between game loads, I’m not even sure that adding them would even fix anything. Also, adding new achievements at a later time and locking them behind a paid DLC is not great. In any case, sorry, but I would advise avoiding.

Short version:

  • Basically tower defense done at its best.

Long version:

  • During the day you explore the current island (yes, there are several).

  • Build up your defenses in the form of recruiting peasants for your army and build walls/towers.

  • Survive the night when the Greed come (a well named enemy that steels your coins).

  • Unlock new building/peasant tech and rid-able mounts on the current island.

  • Build a ship.

  • Move to the next Island.

  • Repeat former steps until strong enough to return to the first Island.

It’s a nice start for an early development game, but I can’t really experience it because it runs so slow on my computer… My pc configuration is i7 + GTX1070 + 32G RAM, hope it can be optimized better in the future
