Lost In Ferry VR

Lost In Ferry VR

Updated Review: Very grateful for the developer for their quick response. I adjusted the floor level and was able to try and succeed at what I had guessed would work originally. So satisfying! Caution:The haunts in this game are not for the faint of heart. I was able to get through the first level! It was quite challenging, which I loved, as it was EXTREMELY rewarding to finally beat it. I look forward to continuing onwards in the game! This is what I had hoped escape games would be like in VR. I can’t wait to see any future developments!

Extremely buggy escape room game with above average graphics and some nice jump scares.

Controls are the stupidest I have ever encountered in VR. with the right hand controller continually turning off and on your left hand torch whenever you move or interact with anything. Also, objects continually disappearing through floor and ceiling. Buttons discussed in tutorial are missing from the mapping.

This could have been good if the developer had actually bothered to play it through before release.

This is a charming casual puzzle game geared for kids. I think it’s meant to be played local co-op with the a parent to play with their child. Either can play the giant spirit using motion controllers to move objects or crank levers, while the other moves around the cute little Seeker around the puzzle level.

The game consists of 1 chapter and 20 levels. It took me approximately 2.5 hours to complete, but I did have to repeat several of the levels because I skipped out on collecting eggs early on (and then later the game didn’t properly record my egg finding). You can play the game perfectly fine seated or standing single-player or for local co-op the other person can control the seeker with a gamepad or KBM.

The good:

I was very impressed with the way that the maze overlaps on itself so the player can actually walk though it. Being able to walk around like this really gives the player a strong sense of presence that I personally haven’t felt in any other VR game yet.

The bad:

The game only has one maze that my girlfriend and I had memorized after the third go. I was expecting at least a few more, or even procedural generation. Background music would be nice too.

Overall, this is a really enjoyable experience and I’m excited to see this game develop further.

My children and I just spend a good 45 minutes just waundering around our front room. OMFG this game is so much fun, sure it’s just walking through a maze but you walk for what seems like for ever, in your play area, and if the person guiding you has any sence you make it to the end. It felt odd to know you’re in your play area but walking for so long you must be next door by now.

The only thing missing is more levels.

Carly and the Reaperman - Escape from the Underworld

Carly and the Reaperman - Escape from the Underworld

Review changed to positive after returning to finish the game.

Our initial few hours in the game were plagued by controller issues: the PC player’s controller would periodically stop working.

What we managed to play we loved though, and after returning a few months later controller problems seemed resolved, and we got through several worlds worth of excellent levels.

Another break happened when my headset needed warranty repair (not this games fault!), and when we came back again our progress was stuck. New worlds wouldn’t open up, and the hub NPC’s dialogue was back at the start of the game. Our progress was all saved; every level we entered correctly showed all the collectable fireflies were still caught, but we had to play through every (now empty) level again in order to advance the story.

My wife asked to write the review for this one:

“Carly and the Reaperman is even more fun than the trailer suggests! I had the happiest of times playing with my husband. His platforming skills made him the best choice for Carly and I played as the Reaperman. With its beautiful art style, increasingly elaborate level design and a seemingly simple, yet very poignant narrative, Carly delivers one of the most creative VR experiences that I have ever played.

That being said, it does have some flaws. Several glitches in the game resulted in lost progress, forcing us to repeat some of the most difficult levels. In one instance, we found a way to cheat through some pixel perfect platforming just to avoid having to repeat the entire puzzle for a 2nd time.

VR Giants

VR Giants

VR Giants is a local multi player coop VR game, in which one player’s body is used to extend the level so that the other player can explore it. Goliath is a giant who is controlled by the movement of the VR player. David, the dwarf, is controlled with a gamepad like in any usual jump & run game. Goliath can help David to cross abysses or reach higher platforms by offering his body as a bridge. David is highly vulnerable to fire, spikes and other dangers so Goliath must protect David. Only by working together and collecting coins and keys they can make their way to freedom.

VR Giants sparks joy and teaches kindness and team communication in a fun and intuitive way by making use of the unique technological feature of two completely different input devices.

This is the least interesting of the three Oubey VR experiences. You just fly above a world real quick and it repeats. The other two had tinges of interactivity that made them much better.

! II’m eating Wasabi flavored Edamame right now. Usually Wasabi flavour is just horse radish, but not here. I think I prefer the horse radish. https://youtu.be/WqKib_tL5GE

Dream Catchers

Dream Catchers

‘Dream Catchers’ is an interactive animation experience in which you seem to play the role of a giant mouse. You will be shooting your bow, casting a few magic spells and generally helping the other people in your team on a magical adventure. While there isn’t a whole lot of gameplay here it should make the little ones feel part of the journey which is all in Chinese. The animation looks OK and from what I could make out of the storyline it seems even very young player-friendly. For just £0.79 you get a 20-30 minute adventure provided you have a good look around at each scene. Not a terrible experience at all, but I do wish it was free (and in English).

This just isn’t a well-made game. I experienced several bugs during my playtime of only 37 minutes. I had to tap out after enduring every single minute of this game. It’s not just buggy, it lacks overall polish, & it’s just not fun to play. I will give the developer credit for being ambitious and trying to create something new for VR. A horror game with some depth. Unfortunately, either the inexperience or the lack of time put into the project are apparent.
