Meridian: Age of Invention

TLDR: 12 Labors type. Redundant. Prefer flavor and themes from competition.
This is a priority clicking game in which you have a HQ and little workers run along pre-drawn pathways to clear obstacles and get ressources. This game’s mechanics are centered around having to micromanage the economy between the multiple buildings built on your hotspots by queuing courriers so they can move ressources to and from mines, and move letters and packages between houses. So, it is a less streamlined, clunkier version of what is usually done in this genre which is not a selling point. Additionally, there is a clash between some of the tile arts that have more of a hand drawn flavor as opposed to the 3D character models of your workers. All things considered this was not a very recommendable example of this genre and would recommend Weather Lords over it.

Meridian is a super casual, lightweight time management game with next to no challenge whatsoever. But with such a cute art style and fast-paced levels, it really doesn’t matter as the game is incredibly fun!
Long version:
Time management titles are usually classified as casual games, but Meridian: Age of Invention takes that to a whole new level with how easy it is. Which is a bit strange, considering that it has a remarkable pace for its genre, but this combination of speed and the lack of challenge create a really enjoyable combination.

Weather Lord: Following the Princess Collector’s Edition
Weather Lord: Following the Princess is an awesome time management game in the Weather Lord series. It’s similair to the 12 Labors of Hercules, except better, more detailed, with more things to manage. It has an interesting story, beautiful graphics and characters. As with most games in this genre, you gather resources (food, wood, gold, etc.), you build several different building types (sawmills, gold mines, grainmills, etc.), repair, use various power ups and try to beat the timer. Where the Weather Lord series differs is the weather tools. Sun to dry up, clouds to grow, and others. I highly recommend this game and the series if you like the genre.

This is one of the few time management / strategy games that gives top award (3 stars) for finishing each level in CASUAL mode so I was able to play a relaxed game at my own pace and still meet all the achievements. Many time management / strategy games will only give 3 gold stars for completing in a more difficult mode.
For those interested… I played a total of 20:30 hours in 4 sittings over 4 days:
1st day / sitting was 6:00 hours to play the 30 regular levels
2nd day / sitting was 4:55 hours to play the 29 alternate levels

OIL PATCH SIMULATIONS
i have been playing the game for several months now. there are no problems with this game. everything works properly. technical support is outstanding. i had a problem starting the game because of my system setup is unique and the game itself gives you info on how to contact support. an impressive first for me. the game tells you what is wrong with it and how to fix it. nice. simple fix takes seconds just enter a special code and it fixes itself to work on my system. never heard of that before. top notch game support.

so it says to purge drill rigs to relocate and various other commands that do not have options associated with them. how exactly does this work? do i write my own script to implement these dynamics that supposedly exist or do i just accept the fact that the game is not only broken but not even complete?

Endless Battle: Return of Hero +1
Simple idle game that actually has several interesting layers. There are a lot of resources that you can gain and resources from one place are usually required in some other place.
1. You have a hero killing enemies on the field. With each enemy killed he gains souls that boost your resource gains on reset of the facilities.
2. You can reset Hero progress or Facility progress separate from each other. When you reset Hero progress you activate quests that you selected, when you reset Facility progress you get unique resources that increase production rate of facilities on the next run and are used in the next set of facilities.

A decent game at first but quickly grows stale and tedious. Each “layer” is basically a carbon copy of the first one with different graphics and names. It could use automation for the buildings, prestige, quests, and missions, but then there wouldn’t be any “game” left since there aren’t any interesting decisions to make.

Click Legends
Not a clone but greatly inspired by Clicker Heroes.
The main problem with this idle game is that there is too much RNG which makes your progression uneven. There are runs where you’ll reach lower levels than before with higher DPS.
Does not cost much but is not much worth either.

Click Legends is a small clicker and idle game that borrows some features from the first game of the developer “God Awe-Full Clicker” but this time it is without microtransactions.
The graphics are kinda simple and nice.
You level up your heroes but only up to Level 150 and then do a small reset on them to raise their damage. For that you need “Bloodstones” that you also need to prestige your whole game, so keeping some is a good idea, as they come quite rarely except for the Statue that brings sometimes some with it.

Desktop Dungeons
TL;DR Not a hack-and-slash
Quick and surprisingly addictive dungeon-crawler with lots of mazes, simple rules, high strategy and low luck – you only die when you’ve made a blunder, or backed yourself into a corner by poor planning.
This may seem like a simple hack-and-slash, but it’s not. There’s almost no luck and a surprising amount of planning involved. Each dungeon is like a puzzle, and might take 15-45 minutes to complete. You start each dungeon as a lowly level 1 character. Kill the monsters in a certain order and gain the power-ups at the right times and you will be able to defeat the boss-monster and thus “win” each dungeon. if you randomly charge in like a hack-and-slash game, you won’t maximize your powerups and you won’t have enough health to tackle the tougher monsters. Same if you spend the power-ups too soon. If you don’t defeat the tougher monsters, you don’t gain the experience-point bonuses to increase your abilities enough to tackle the boss-monster. As you complete dungeons, you can unlock other character classes (again, you start each dungeon back as level 1 and the layout of each dungeon is randomly generated each time).

I was wary of this. I played a ton of alpha, even after I had unlocked everything and finished all the levels. It was a lot of fun, and I appreciated the minimalism of the game. I paid for the advance copy something like three years ago, played the game, then stopped and sort of put it behind me for a while.
Then, just a couple weeks ago, I saw that it was released on steam. While I thought about looking up my copy of it, minutes later I received a message saying because I paid in advance I got a steam key!

12th July 2019. Recently Offline progress was added to the game. It works fine as long as you log in to see it. Note that you do not gain offline rewards if you get the daily rewards pop-up instead.

7th April 2019 I went for the God-like bonus, so starting here my account is technically no longer F2P, but the March review is still from a F2P perspective. (I was F2P up to Path 8107)
Edit: Forgot to specify that at the time of getting this premium bonus I had purchased everything from the premium shop other than one Pet and most Realms for freely earned Apples.

Recommended if you’d like to have something to do while watching videos or doing other less engaging stuff.
Very active devs. Quite transparent, responsive, polite. Frequent content patches.
There is a leaderboard in this game. If you care about that, this game is pay-to-win. If you don’t, it’s not. Premium currency is farmable and is a lot more accessible than other games with p2w systems. You can eventually collect all the premium upgrades with time and dedication- there is no paywall. But if you care about ranking, you likely won’t beat the guy straight dumping cash on the upgrades, unless he goes on a hiatus.

Majula Frontier: The Offense
OK so, this game definitely has some underlying design problems, but it isn’t at all what I expected from a game with “Mostly Negative” Steam reviews.
For one thing, it’s very aesthetically charming, lightweight, has a decent amount of depth, seemingly stable without bugs, and has a spark of originality. Top that with it is a free game, which people forget is a good thing. Take the review score with a grain of salt and an understanding that a low number of reviews means the score is also very inaccurate.

The issues:
Limited Auto Battles. This is a no-go. That needs to be removed.
Can only craft a single item at a time. No queues. It needs queues!
Can’t switch to next character in the character screens themselves. Makes equipping gear tedious.
Adding to that, we need an Equip All feature to equip the best for everyone at once.
Fixing these issues will help me recommend this game to others.

Reus
This will be both, a Review for new people and a compliment to the game.
I played Reus for 270+ hours, and have so far unlocked almost all the achievements to the exception of two. An let me tell ya, this is a marvelous game, really. Rarely, if ever have I played such an intricate, interconnected, interdependent game where every choice and every placement has such profound and amazing influence over everything else, specially your “victory”.
First, the warnings -
- You should not buy/play this game, if you don’t like “god games” (then really, why are you even here reading this?)

I love this game. But–full disclosure–the strategy genre is almost exclusively where I spend my gaming hours. The remaining time is usually allocated to sandbox games, and Reus sort of falls into both these categories.
While definitely not an open world game by any stretch of the imagination [the world is literally a closed ring], Reus follows the sandbox/god game pattern of affecting the world in a way similar to an artist painting a portrait. Using the proper tools (the Giants and their abilities), you masterfully paint your world on the blank canvas that is the earth. Unlike the artist, however, your creations are living beings!
