Fear Half Factor is a very lazy retro pixel vertical scrolling endless runner style game where you chase people to convert them to ghosts like yourself. There’s little to no gameplay apart from moving around left and right. The graphics are quite poor and the gameplay terrible. There’s no 16:9 support despite the game being released in 2018.

I can’t recommend this lazy shovelware.

Great little shooter with a fantastic retro soundtrack!!

I bought this ages ago, but only just played it properly.

I have heaps of games in my library that I haven’t played lol ,,, go figure.

It’s a difficult game, but definitely has that “one more try” quality about it.

The only thing is I couldn’t get my mouse to work properly.

It’s easy enough to play with keyboard controls, though.

Hope to put some more time into this one.

Recommended!!

This is the second chance I gave this game. There is a small progression (switching weapons finally works) but I still can not recommend this game even for determined achievement hunters (because the achievements do not work).

Simple retro platformer game. Gets repetitive fast as the levels are basically the same over and over again. I’m sure the developer had a lot of fun designing the game assets (as stated in the description) and they do look good for a retro-styled game. If you’re looking for something to pass the time with and gain some Steam Achievements, then give this game a try. However, if you’re looking for a platformer with more depth, look elsewhere.

Note: I was able to reach level 5, but the game bugged out on me as my character would not pick up the ammo spawn when moving over it. The ammo is crucial to passing the levels. At this point I’m stuck at level 5 and cannot progress forward. The game just released, so hopefully the developer will fix this issue.

NecroWorm

NecroWorm

Nice ambience with bugs and horrible controls

What this game is: This is a timed puzzle game with a cartoonish side. You litterally are a worm that has to eat his way through a setup in order to solve it by eating every available object (be it a brain, a skull, etc.) in a certain amount of time. You can make your way through one space only once, so you have to make sure not to put yourself in position of crossing your path.

How does it work? It presents 120 setups, on three pages, that you have to solve. Depending on the time you took in solving the puzzle (by eating everything there is to eat), you get from one to three skulls. From there, you are allowed to continue solving other puzzles, unless you want to get a better score (and thus more skulls).

I came into Omnom Necropolis expecting a classic snake game, but found that this is more of a hybrid of the old snake game and a puzzler. Basically the goal of each level is to each each of the yucky dead things as quickly as possible without boxing yourself in. As you move you grow with every step (slither?) so you cannot enter the same space twice making it a bit of a challenge. I found that it’s easier if I don’t think too much about it and kind of get a broad idea of how to clear the board then tweak it out from there. This works pretty well except on some of the harder levels where things get a bit insane. There is a hint feature that shows you a completion path, but use it sparingly as it only gives you a quick flash and they are limited. Graphics and sound suit the mood and it looks nice enough: I tested it on my low-end machine and it ran smoothly so that’s nice. I’m slightly bummed that it does not support gamepads – because of this I cannot stream it to my shield or play it on the GPD Win easily. All in all if you like puzzly type games you will likely enjoy Omnom’s different approach to the genre. Plus it’s only 3 bucks. Good game to add to the Halloween playlist.

PAC-MAN™ Championship Edition DX+

PAC-MAN™ Championship Edition DX+

This game is absolutely bonkers, in a good way though.

PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ is like normal PAC-MAN, only the map is rotated 90 degrees, there are tons of ghosts instead of just 4, and it’s a race to eat as many dots, food and ghosts as possible before the timer runs out.

The game is split into several boards with different structures, dot and ghost positioning, and paths to follow. None of them really feel any harder than the others, but they’re all difficult in their own way. The DLC boards are a fun addition, but I wouldn’t recommend you buy them separately from the game, since it’s cheaper to buy the full Big Eater pack and just get all of it at once.

Hello Everyone,

It is time to munch, chomp, and manoeuvre your way through another series of mazes with Bandai Namco’s notorious pelt eating ghost munching spherical maze racer, Pacman in “PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+”. This game is not your original Pacman but a new fast pace version that will keep you on the edge of your seat every step of the way.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+ is an arcade score attack game that takes its inspiration from the original Pelt Muncher that was first released in 1981. This time around though Pac-man has been turned into a speed run crushing dynamo taking on hoards of ghost that are determined to get in your way as you try to climb to the top of the leader. With that being said, lets begin talking about the gameplay.

Average game, not good not bad. Main problem is that this is a gamemaker engine game so only bad 2d graphics and bad interface and AI.

Space BloX

Space BloX

Space BloX is a very simple 2D side scrolling retro pixel shoot ‘em up, with a difference. Instead of adding interesting enemies that shoot you, like other shooters do, the developer decided to turn things down a notch and just put blocks in. That’s why I feel like this might not be a regular asset/template flip, because no actual developer would bother making a game template/tutorial this bad.

The quality is bad. Lazy pixel “art” used instead of proper graphics. The developer couldn’t come up with a compelling level/story design so decided to use samey procgen as a substitute for content. Controls and resolution are locked and can’t be changed.

The Christmas Gifts

The Christmas Gifts

Ug, I’m not even going to spend my usual amount of time reviewing this “thing.” It’s a crap action-platformer that has LIMITED AMMO that furthermore DOESN’T REPLENISH when you die! Yeah, if you’re not doing well, you can very easily end up with no ammo and tons of respawned enemies in front of you (because even though your ammo doesn’t respawn, your enemies do), making progressing impossible. Jumping feels weird and unnatural, hitboxes are square and terrible, obstacles are confusing and will one-hit kill you even when it looks like you can pass under them (see previous comment about hitboxes ;) ), and the repetitive music will make you want to rip off your own ears and feed them to the cat.

Clunky controls, especially the jump mechanic : sometimes you will not jump and fall into a trap, sometimes you will jump and get stuck into the edge of a platform, and sometimes you will jump then jump again if you did not release the jump button quick enough. That itself is already quite frustrating.

Then, the levels are badly designed. In particular, the traps are set in such a way that, for most of them you need to execute an almost perfect jump, which is, well … look above. Plus, given that you cannot see that far away, you will most likely fall and die without time to react (small saw trap, enemies killing you instantly by touching you, …).

X-COM: UFO Defense

X-COM: UFO Defense

Super game! One of the true classics, and - according to me - one of the best games still in modern times!

Note: A patch openxcom.org fixes pretty much all of the bad usability issues in the original game. This is probably a must-have if you are going to enjoy the game today.

This game is super for people who likes strategy and management. Unlike the later series of X-Com (partly but mainly after Apocalypse (game #3)), the features of the game has been overly simplified to make the game suit a much wider audience. This game, however, is the real deal… superb for those who like a good challenge and the management involved.

There are games that are good. There are games that make you addicted. Then there is XCOM…

It’s the end of the 20th century. In response to growing alien threat, few governments decide to fund and XCOM organisation, solely dedicated to neutralising forementioned threat. Player becomes Commander of the force.

Game consists of two levels. On the Geoscape, you manage bases, research (come on, all this sweet loot left by deceased gray cabbage. I know you want it.), manufacture and more. Starting with single base (preferably western europe, you have radar coverage over whole Europe, part of Russia and Northen Afrcia), few soldiers and fighters equipped with conventional terrestial weapons. It is sufficient for the first few weeks, but after recovering UFOs and aliens, both dead and in custody, you will get better equipment: Laser weapons with unlimited ammo, powerful plasma-based armament, durable armors, UFO-looking fighters or even possibility to make your soldiers use their Psionical abilities against aliens. But to get this, you need to get some UFOs down. Send an Interceptor, and use his persuasive rockets to make aliens crash. Then, Tactical level starts.
