Retro Vision

Retro Vision

Had quite a bit fun playing this game, really like the take on theme and the relative ease you pick it up and put it down. Music and visuals compliment each other well and all round is enjoyable. Very glad that there are so many different takes on levels that make each experience customisable and unique. Would like a community leader board.

Picked this game up for cheap thinking it was going to be meh but was left pleasantly surprised. The music is great, the visuals are awesome and the control scheme is simple but intuitive. I can see myself revisiting this time to time whenever I need to unwind and relax.

Remember when shooter games where gleefully unrealistic, uncomplicated, unpretentious, and thus fun? That’s what this little retro gem is all about. Well, that and fluorescent pink tanks and attack helicopters.

You get to blow up bad guys, cars, even buildings, you can ride vehicles and fly fighter jets, you can buy upgrades and become obscenely overpowered, and all while enjoying unabashedly 80s graphics and soundtrack. The game even has pretty decent replayability value.

I doubt you could find anything more entertaining at this price.

In a nutshell: RewindApp stole a free online game named Hammer 2 and upgraded it with synthwave aesthetics. It surely raises concern whether it’s acceptable for paying such a scam, but I hadn’t known it before my purchase, and for the sale price of 0,39 €, I had quite a good time with this game.

The game itself is a cheap GTA knockoff, the graphics are nice, the music is excellent. Quests are easy and repetitive (kill/destroy N things), vehicle control is a bit poor (except for drifting, which was cool), physics is irreal. Upgrades are not necessary, and if you want some challenge, avoid buying too much of it (especially Golden Gun, starter weapons, infinite ammo, god mode and jetpack), otherwise it will be child’s play and no fun at all. All 30 quests can be finished in merely 2 hours, the 100% completion (time limit, trophy score, secret package) requires about 2-3x more time, depending on the player.

Awesome game if u are a maniac killer: great soundtracks + great gameplay + a simple storyline + too much blood + 2D Pixel graphics = Awesome Mix!

Music is perfection, gameplay is solid, if a bit goofy at times, especially dealing with knocked down enemies and poorly placed doors that either block bullets, or don’t swing open all the way, blocking your spray. The story is enjoyable, but the music does most of the heavy lifting for setting the tone of the scene, which isn’t a bad thing, since every single track is a masterpiece.

The game runs alright for the most part, even on my potato of a pc, but the frame rate grinds to a halt on Push It, and if you’re on Mac, moving your cursor to the top of the screen opens your task bar, which freezes the game for a second, leading to some frustrating deaths.

What a super chill game. :) I love its simplicity and it captures the retrowave aesthetic really nicely. This is 1980s personified. You can also unlock a Tesla Cybertruck in the game. I’m dead. ✖‿✖

I really do love the synthwave genre sooo YEA, good sh*t. They really captured the feel by making your screen look like a VHS being played on a CRT TV which is cool, ya know. Sooo, you basically just drive straight in a carefully crafted synthwave environment avoiding cars when you can. That’s all there is to it. Once you get decent at it, you can switch your brain into autopilot and just 𝕧 𝕚 𝕓 𝕖 out. The music is really wow.

Updated from Negative to Postive

As of Update 10 the huge pop in issue has been fixed with the inclusion of “viewing distance” option.

To be clear, the pop in IS still there, but it no longer hinders gameplay & is now only slightly noticeable when using some of the faster cars in the 3rd person or cockpit views.

The music no longer cuts out after you crash, but does cut off for a second if you restart the level.

Full controller support has also been added now too, which pretty much goes hand in hand with a game like this.

BomberX

BomberX

The game of childhood. Exciting - it would seem that the gameplay is straightforward. But placing bombs, thinking where to escape from the explosion and from enemies, and listening to music - the head turns off, and a day passes, and not an hour after the game. A variety of levels, enemies. The real strategic game is to understand when, where and why. Recommend!

BomberX is a pretty fun little arcade blocky game. It reminds me a lot of that old game a lot of us used to play in our childhood, Atomic Bomberman.

Keep in mind right from the start that the game’s in very Early Access and there’s bound to be some issues around. But, with the help of the players, the team behind this unpolished gem could create something great.

Things are basic and easy to get right into. You load the game, and you can play either offline mode with bots or jump into the multiplayer with other people.

Shapeshooter

Shapeshooter

Introduction

From the developer of Polygoneer comes Shapeshooter. It’s a rail shooter, you can only move forward and backward over the rail tracks. Like in Polygoneer you have colored enemies which you destroy with bullets of the same color albeit limited to two colors. You can upgrade your tank in the workshop.

Gameplay

You control a tank which moves over a rail, you’ll find orange and purple enemies on your way and you shoot at them with bullets of their respective color. There are also level hazards to avoid like energy gates and circular saws, I expect more hazards to encounter in later levels. You have multiple weapons you can use although at the beginning you’re stuck with a slow weapon with unlimited ammo and a rapid weapon with limited ammo. When an enemy is destroyed they leave a ring you can collect and use to purchase upgrades in the workshop. Some enemies release ammo pickups which alternate between ammo for the different weapons. To gather what you want you have to time your pick up. You can either pick them up with your tank or by shooting at them.

I really wanted to like this game, I really did. I’ve greatly enjoyed several other games by the same developer, and had high hopes coming into this one. Sadly, after 8+ hours with it, I don’t believe I can comfortably recommend it (I really wish Steam offered star ratings akin to Yelp/Amazon/Google/etc., rather than simply a binary yes/no, as I’d probably give this something like 2-3 / 5).

Right off the bat, I had and still have a perplexing technical issue. On my previous crummy entry-level machine with like 4 GB of RAM and integrated graphics, all of Nuk Games' titles ran perfectly smoothly, with absolutely no issues. I recently acquired a new-to-me, gently used mid-level gaming PC, however, and now, suddenly, every single one of this developer’s titles that I own no longer has sound. None of the other titles in my library that I’ve tried on this “new” machine have this same issue. I’ve tried the obvious solutions, but the fact that this is the case with multiple titles from the same dev yet nothing else in my library seems suspiciously more than coincidental, and suggests the problem is not specifically my machine, per se.

Garlic

Garlic

Garlic has to be by far, in my opinion, the worst designed 2D platformer I’ve ever played. Try not to dismiss this out of hand as someone salt over a difficult game. I’ve beaten hard platformers on many occasion: Super Meat Boy, Celeste, Castlevania, Super Mario Bros. Lost Levels. None of them are chock full of the fake difficulty Garlic has in cloves.

The game fancies itself a Celeste clone, you have very simple movement mechanics that take the form of your basic jump, wall jumping and sliding, as well as a dash. The dash will be a frequent cause of headaches because it goes way too far, often colliding with enemies off-screen (who all spawn in the worst spots, but more on that later). It can be really finicky aiming the dash, and you have to be careful because there’s always a forward momentum affecting it that often causes you to slide off or past the platform you’re aiming at.

I backed this game on Kickstarter, and extensively played a near-final version using a Steam key provided to backers of the project prior to general release.

I’m going to start with this to save some of you some time: this game will be a challenge. There will be plenty of near misses when you dash and jump. There will probably be audible profanity on your part. If you want easy, go elsewhere.

Movement mechanics are explained in a brief tutorial at the beginning of the game. There is a minor learning curve to one of these (specifically when you combo dash attacks), but the earlier levels are designed in a way where you can still progress without having mastered it.

PAC-MAN™ Championship Edition DX+

PAC-MAN™ Championship Edition DX+

This game is absolutely bonkers, in a good way though.

PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ is like normal PAC-MAN, only the map is rotated 90 degrees, there are tons of ghosts instead of just 4, and it’s a race to eat as many dots, food and ghosts as possible before the timer runs out.

The game is split into several boards with different structures, dot and ghost positioning, and paths to follow. None of them really feel any harder than the others, but they’re all difficult in their own way. The DLC boards are a fun addition, but I wouldn’t recommend you buy them separately from the game, since it’s cheaper to buy the full Big Eater pack and just get all of it at once.

Hello Everyone,

It is time to munch, chomp, and manoeuvre your way through another series of mazes with Bandai Namco’s notorious pelt eating ghost munching spherical maze racer, Pacman in “PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+”. This game is not your original Pacman but a new fast pace version that will keep you on the edge of your seat every step of the way.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+ is an arcade score attack game that takes its inspiration from the original Pelt Muncher that was first released in 1981. This time around though Pac-man has been turned into a speed run crushing dynamo taking on hoards of ghost that are determined to get in your way as you try to climb to the top of the leader. With that being said, lets begin talking about the gameplay.
