God of Word

God of Word

God of Word is a fun word game like Bookworm Adventures, where you try to find as many 3-or-more-letter words as you can from a random collection of 7 letters, wrapped in Classic Greek mythology. The main game is pretty straightforward and simple, but the game is marred by other mini-games that you must pass to advance, such as a brutally unforgiving typing test where you fail the level if you miss even one word (and often the correct letters won’t register if you type them too soon after another letter) - a recipe for frustration if you have a timed typing test. I enjoy the main game a LOT, but the typing test section - where you must get a perfect score for more than THREE MINUTES of frantic typing - makes it tough for me to recommend the entire game. It’s still fun, but it that fun may be cut short for you sooner than you expect.

The developer made a quick response and re-balanced the bosses in the later half of game, making them more characteristic and the increase in difficulty more smooth. It works fine now, and if you are fond of word’spelling game, you can enjoy the course of play until the end.

Good work, Mega Dwarf!

–—————————–

God of Word is a real-time word puzzle + typing game based on ancient Greek mythology. The single player campaign consists of several acts, each act contains several stages, and in each stage you need either to defeat several common enemies by spelling word to deal damages to them, fight a boss with varied rules of the spelling game, or type your way through. In the real-time battle, you are given a set of letters (you can change the whole set at the expediture of time), and in order to beat the current enemy, you have to spell enough word correctly to excess a fixed HP for this enemy before time runs out.

Maybe the developers should focus on making the game actually controllable? The game controls doesn’t seem to work on my Mac. And the game keeps freezing. I just checked in months later and they still haven’t done anything about it.

coming from someone that is N5 qualified and working on N4

1 its a good game

2 please dont give the answers for the vocabulary for EX the vocab at the top is written as blue/ao – stomach/i – train station/eki i think having the answer for the vocab is taking away from learning the word

3 all the monsters make the same sound when you kill them

its a good over all game my main complaint is the vocab giving the answers

This is one one of many games/resources I have for learning and practicing Nihongo. I ran through the first three levels and am impressed. What is great is that it does not use one consistent font for the kana - because they do look different to the untrained eye, as do any letters in a particular “font.” This adds a level of flexibility to the process of learning which is useful when some kana bear resemblance to others in different scripts.

I played about five hours of Japanese learning games today, between mobile and steam. This one was the last one of the night, and the perfect end to a educational night!

Words for Evil

Words for Evil

Words for Evil - rogue-like word game. With some basic ‘RPG’ (in terms of Rogue-like) elements and the word-connecting basic gameplay mechanic. The thing I really liked is that the game actually aims to develop your vocabulary, explains things, and instigate, relish the player to continue the journey, open some new characters, new lands, new types of monsters… And new words, of course!

However, there are some itches that stop me from declaring my love for this game worldwide.

First of all, while a rogue-like basis is really suitable for this game, I am well aware that not all players around like such games. I am not too fond of rogue-likes myself, actually. And there we have a combo of two not-so-popular-and-kinda-boring-for-many-people genres, which makes the audience interest even rarer, in big numbers. Negative multiplication, ever heard of such a concept in your lessons of Economics?

Ever since this game popped up on the main shop front page as a new game, I was curious. I love word games. Words for Evil did not disappoint at all.

It’s a walker type game, and you can quit out anytime from the level and keep the progress you’ve made. You make your own party out of a number of unlockable heroes, including Santa Claus (who is seriously impressive in a fight)! Essentially you’re given one of a number of puzzles, depending on whether you are up against a monster, a chest, or a trap, and you have to do your best at figuring them out. It stimulates the mind, and there are RPG elements as well, such as levelling up and buying gear.

Alphabeats: Master Edition

Alphabeats: Master Edition:

Do you have rhythm in your blood? Do you have good reflexes? Are you good at spelling? Well, you had better have these qualities in abundance, because you are up for a challenge!

Alphabeats: Master Edition is a combination of a spelling / rhythm (music) game. As you launch the game, you will be presented with a comprehensive menu. In the middle of the screen you will be able to select from over 20 tracks to play – or you can upload your own favourite tracks. Also, you will have an option at the top “How to Play” (which is a good tutorial), an online leader board and the words you manage to spell correctly (the longest too).

Alphabeats is a combined word and rhythm game that was originally released as free game with pay-to-play levels on mobile platforms but was well reworked for PC, there is practically no trace of being a mobile game in the past.

You control a pointer that can horizontally move and collect letters from the board to form a word; those letters appear concurrently with the song rhythm. You have to make the best words you can, leading you to aim for the highest score (leaderboards are synchronised online). That might sound pretty easy but beware, as the song's speed gets higher and as you aim for longer words, you'll also have to keep in mind that you have to dodge the letters you don't want to use in a word which you plan to put together.

## Trivia Vault: Mixed Trivia 2

You get what you paid for, 5K achievements at minimum price. If you’re an achievement hunter looking to increase the number of achievements on your profile showcase, then I highly recommend buying this. Else don’t waste your money. This is not a game, it’s just a way of distributing achievements.

Putting aside the fact that this is an **achievement spamming game** (5,000 achievements unlocked when you start/end the game), I actually enjoyed the questions for this Trivia.

Unlike "Mixed Trivia", this Trivia has a good mixture of general knowledge questions. If you are buying for the purpose of "content", this is a decent Trivia to consider. _Not the best, but oh well._

_I don't like the "time pressure" inside this Trivia._

P/S: After reviewing my screenshots, some questions were rather stupid and straightforward. Unless it is for achievement, you can skip this game.

This game literally exists just so that players can simply cheat their way to getting literally 5000 ACHIEVEMENTS. If you want to get achievements legitimatley, this isn't the game for you.

*– [Real player with 0.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198199175651)*

It's a spam game, in which the main point is that you pay to boost your achievement count by 5,000\. Steam is working to remove these games. Good riddance.
