Watchmen: The End is Nigh

Watchmen: The End is Nigh

The biggest reason to recommend this title is how satisfying the combat feels. Hits are weighty, meaty, and pack plenty of “oomph”. It really feels like you’re smashing your fist into someone’s face, and the added atmosphere provided by the Watchmen license only helps keep things intersting across the game’s relatively short length.

The combat system is based around a standard light/heavy attack dynamic, but with a few notable nuances. For one, in order to perform combos, you have to time your attacks properly, which in addition to preventing button mashing, creates strategy in deciding which combo is appropriate in which situation. For example, you might really want to use the High Damage combo all the time, but it takes long enough to pull off that you need to be more selective.

For a modern player who doesn’t really like Watchmen comics, this game might be a way-below-the-average. It’s a very plain beat’em with some very plain story about the re-election of Nixon (who were not reelected in our history line) and Rorschach and Nigth Owl in cooperation beating some thugs in the (supposed) backstreets of New York in chase of Underboss character who recently escaped from Sing Sing Facility.

There are only five levels, which you can run through in about 2, maybe 3 hours, so don’t expect much even if you’re Watchmen’s fan. For the good points, the visuals are actually decent, and if you have NVidia GPU and proper drivers installed, this game will run just ok. AMD-users, though, and even more - people who can’t check their drivers, might have problems with the launch.

Kick-Ass 2

Kick-Ass 2

Kick-Ass 2 has decent cartoon-like visuals, with cell-shading effects and all that jazz. However, it’s the only solid positive point about the game. It’s a short beat’em up, which was supposed to go the same road as Watchmen: The End is Nigh 5 years before. However, it fails at being a fighting game thanks to god-awful controls, unbalanced and buggy brawl process, and lack of any possible fan-service things someone would expect from following-the-movie-title.

Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass himself ain’t sound or look like themselves (comparing to Chloë Moretz and Aaron Johnson characters).

If you are looking for a terrible example of licensed shovelware, here it, Kick-Ass 2, the stinky king of the trash hill.

Released over a year after the second movie bombed in theaters, Freedom Factory decided to grace the gaming scene with this piece of interactive entertainment, but forgoing anything that has to do with actual fun and entertainment.

Here is the shit list:

-Absolutely horrendous voice over on all the main characters, especially Kick-Ass himself who sounds like an annoying Spanish kid trying his hardest to fit in The Hamptons. I imagine the conversation that occurred at Freedom Factory went like this: Producer: “Great job on the Spanish voice over, you brought out the vigilante in you. So, can you do the English, Italian and German too?” VO: “Uh, well, you know.. Product: “Excellent, I’ll schedule you for a couple more hours. Jorgeeeee! We’re good on localization! Cancel the American’s contract.”

TL;DR: If you’re expecting the same gameplay fluidity as Mario Strikers then sadly the game isn’t there yet. A few minor but very important gameplay issues have to be ironed out before that happens. But that really is it and despite that, if you have friends to play with the game is still a ton of fun.

The game feel and pace mimics that of Mario Strikers very heavily while at the sametime delivering on its own twists like:

 • Hypercurve - Being able to control the balls trajectory once you throw it to a certain extent

For a game that flew under my radar for about a month…. a ton of fun.

I mean, big huge heaping pile of fun.

I mean really spectacular, the sort that will make you shout when you score.

HOW IT PLAYS

It’s a 2v2 exercise - players can be human or AI, in whatever combo. (some mode limits do apply)

The object of the game is to achieve the highest score.

Fundamentally, the game plays a lot like speedball - you grab the ball, run it, pass it back and forth, and shoot it into the opponent’s goal/net; the opponents try to stop you, recapture the ball, do the same in your net; result is constant scramble.

it’s good, legit i bought it because i thought the developer put a bunch of time into the game to make it look good, but then when i bought it, it was great and when i beat the game 100% (just now) i wanted a second one but there isn’t so i was kinda disappointing, but if they ever make a second one i’d get it happily which i want them to do.

Hey there! If you enjoy short and sweet reviews, follow my curator page here! I am an independent Curator providing reviews and insights to the games that need the spotlight! Thank you! :)

I got the chance to play Street Hero back when it was introduced as a demo for the Steam Game Festival and I thought it showed tremendous promise. Especially if you consider that this is the first game released by DD Games , a Game Studio from Vietnam managed by one authentic Hero! A one man band!

Watchmen: The End is Nigh Part 2

Watchmen: The End is Nigh Part 2

One more chapter of street brawl beat’em up with Watchmen characters, ’70s decorations and overall grim atmosphere of the end of western civilization. I “recommend” the game, yes. But just barely. And only for those who really love Watchmen series and Rorschach in particular, since it’s one of the two games where you can control him to brake some bones in usual “street justice” quest.

Some say that “The End is Nigh Part 2” is much much better than “Part 1”. It’s a great exaggeration. Some little annoying things were tuned a bit, but generally “Part 1” and “Part 2” are quite the same. The second part was released only four months after the first part… The game engine is the same, the gameplay is the same and even the enemies are mostly the same. What’s new? Well, it’s a new chapter of Watchmen’s story, a new quest, not correlated with the Watchmen movie or the first game. You still have a choice of Rorschach or Nigth Owl (or both in local co-op game) and they are almost the same as they were in Watchmen Part 1. Except for a little power up for Night Owl, to balance it in combat abilities with Rorschach (who was much more useful than Night Owl in the first game).

Batman™: Arkham Knight

Batman™: Arkham Knight

MAN HALF THE GAME, I SPENT INSIDE BATMOBILE!!

Arguably the best game in Arkham series. There were obvious improvements in almost every department, be it gameplay, graphics or stealth compared to the previous Arkham titles. The best way to describe this game is that it is a mixture of both City and Origins. Story is decent, Combat system was definitely improved. They added the fear takedowns but I personally liked the double takedowns which were removed in the Knight.

The most annoying part was blowing tanks literally half of the time. But they did introduce Batmobile for the first time in Arkham series so the experience wasn’t too bad. Its definitely overused though.

Real player with 140.1 hrs in game

Plus:

 • Decent storyline / plot, nothing too cliche

 • Combat system - hit, dodge, counter, parry, chain combos, just like your DS / Sekiros

 • Different kills ( takedowns ) / variety of gadgets that can be used. If you want to compare to other games, the tools / gadgets available is pretty decent, perfectly balanced, nothing too OP

 • Playing on hard difficulty, AIs are not dumb, they are well coded, however AI is still suffering from minor cases of ‘lack of peripheral vision’

 • Minimal to none grinding involved

Batman™: Arkham Origins

Batman™: Arkham Origins

Batman: Arkham Origins has always been the odd one out, a little unpolished and out of place.

That doesn’t mean it’s a bad game though.

Batman Arkham Origins provides a fantastic story, possibly being the most engaging and emotional out of the entire Arkham quadrilogy (yes, I said quadrilogy, stop pretending this game doesn’t exist, I want Origins Remake).

The gameplay is as in-depth and enjoyable as it was in Arkham City, now with the inclusion of a couple of new gadgets, some are decent, others are really cool and one in particular makes the combat loop significantly more fun (although arguably easier).

A FUCKING AMAZING GAME 9/10

Gameplay:

Combat - The Arkham series has the FUCKING BEST combat in any video game, there are so many different enemy types and so many ways to take em down. It takes skill and practice to get good at, but it’s rewarding and makes you feel like a FUCKING GOD

Traversal - You can glide and grapple around the city with your cape and grapple gun. Traversal also does take a slight bit of skill to get to places faster and it is somewhat fun too.

Stealth - REALLY GOOD stealth gameplay. There are so many amazing ways to sneak up on your enemies such as, grappling between ledges, crawling through vents, or just simply sneaking up behind them. And on top of that there is so many different ways to take them down such as, silent takedown, knockout smash, inverted takedown, vent takedown, ledge takedown, hanging ledge takedown, sonic takedown, ground takedown, slide takedown, glue takedown, and a few more.

The Ables: Freepoint High

The Ables: Freepoint High

I am a big fan of Jeremy’s work. I really enjoyed the book, so when I first learned about this game, I knew I was going to buy it. These are my unbiased thoughts of the game so far.

Pros:

 • Good looking graphics, somewhat reminiscent of Mega Man games.

 • Beautiful background music.

 • The gameplay works well, starting off fairly easy, then sending you into a real challenge quickly.

 • The boss fights are a nice challenge, taking me a few tries to beat them.

 • A wide variety of powers at your character’s disposal.

It’s real fun!!! I enjoyed the book and I am sure I will enjoy the game as well.

Needs a save/checkpoint feature ASAP, I had to quit and now I must play from the begging!

Also, in the controls there are button to change between powers but it doesn’t seem to work for the time!
