Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2

Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2

I bought this randomly on my switch several months back, it just looked cool. But my god this game is insane, made with tons of care and passion. It’s a unique experience compared to any other game like it. To me this game is worth full price, but if you are still not sold, if you can pick this up on sale then it’s absolutely 100% worth the price.

If you’re like my friends and I and like to squeeze out every glitch or trick you can out of a game, this is for you. Or, if you just crave some simple dumb fun alone or with friends, then this is the game for you. The devs have put so much care and effort into every little detail and it really shows; every part of the game is the good part of the game.

Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2 is set 15 years later after the first game in 1944. WWII has already started and Vinnie Cannoli is back to take out anyone in his way. The story starts with you captured by the mob looking to get some revenge, but you escape and start your rampage.

There is a lot to like in Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2, from the bizarrely sadistic characters to the impressive variety in enemy design. The controls are easy to get use too. Double jumping, kicking, jump kicks, action rolling and 360 aiming.

Guns, Gore & Cannoli is a 2D zombie Shoot ‘Em Up indie game. As you might expect, it includes guns, gore and, you guessed it, cannoli. Vinnie, who has a mission in Thugtown, is one of the rare humans still in town. Zombies are all around it, but luckily, he gets a few guns to fight them. And man, was that a fun fight!

You want ups and downs, right? There you go:

Pros:

  • Despite its style, this game actually has a really good story. I don’t want to spoil it, but it exceeded my expectations. The story is evolving, more people are getting involved in the story …

A commendable effort from this solo dev…

First off, huge kudos to the solo dev for putting together this game alone. It’s impressive, and the fact that it’s only a solo dev behind the game should be taken into consideration when reading my review of the game. And ontop of that, the 2 BIGGEST issues that I have with this game, are completely fixable, so if the dev wants to, then they can certainly get a positive review from me once those are fixed.

Pros: #1. It looks very pretty

#2. The combat sounds and also music are on-point

An amazing and gorgeous product from a single-man production. Just take it for what it is and you’ll get a couple of enjoyable hours out of it.

  • You can pick up different weapons (sword, axe, spear…) which apparently cause the same amount of damage. I just choose the one I liked the most and stayed with it until the end. Shields lose their usefulness in the second half of the game, or once you realize that offense is the best defense. They also break easily.

Bow, which is part of your initial equipment, is a welcome addition to the arsenal. It can be a powerful tool when aiming for those headshots! It’s always fun to pull on the string and drop the ones foolish enough to charge at you without a shield.

Cat Knight

Cat Knight

Contrary to its screenshots, Cat Knight isn’t a platformer. It’s a warioware style microgame collection, with one hit KO and reflex based gameplay. Your reward for surviving 5 stages? Nothing. At least the achievements work.

Each level is a survival stage lasting 100 seconds:

Stage 1 - automatic runner, with randomized horizontal enemies

Stage 2 - automatic runner, with randomized vertical enemies

Stage 3 - dodge obstacles while free falling

Stage 4 - you can’t move, and enemies attack from both sides

this is the type of game i would play in school on some unblocked website not worth the price, plus i’m mostly likely just bad but its annoyingly hard and weird to control.

Fallen City Brawl

Fallen City Brawl

Brawl through the city in hard-hitting pixel art style inspired by arcade classics!

As a brutal battle for control of Fallen City’s criminal underworld rages, four strangers join forces to survive and reclaim the streets! With a ferocious wolf at their sides, these unlikely allies will face impossible odds. Along the way, motivations and past lives will collide, further testing their loyalty as well as their fighting skills. Only by binding together can they reach the final showdown that will decide who lives and who falls.

Inspired by arcade beat ’em ups of the late ’80s and early ’90s, Fallen City Brawl is a story of ambition and revenge told through intense side-scrolling pixel art action. Huge sprites and animated backgrounds breathe life into the dying city streets, while fighting mechanics offer uncommon depth with destructive combos, counters, air-throws, grappling, parries, special moves and “RIOT” supers! Animated cutscenes and a powerful soundtrack by famed composer Daniel Lindholm set the tone for urban mayhem, playable solo or with friends in local co-op!

Features:

  • Fight through 8 stages of arcade-inspired action!

  • Choose between 4 playable characters.

  • Execute combos and specials with deep hand-to-hand combat mechanics.

  • Pick up weapons like pipes, bats, knives, firearms, oil drums, chainsaws and more!

  • Clear the screen with special attacks by upgradeable mercenary backup.

  • Battle it out solo or with friends in local co-op.

  • Command a wolf companion or unleash him and watch the carnage!

  • Get in the mood for mayhem with a soundtrack by Daniel Lindholm.

Godkiller

Godkiller

A heartwarming tale of the will of mankind, and its ability to persevere through any adversity. The game is fun, silly, and an enjoyable 3 or so hour experience. Take it at face value as a satirical, goofy game and not one meant to be taken immensely seriously.

Also, dash in the air to go much faster. It doesn’t always work, but most of the time it does.

Problems with this game one the dogs and birds can go to the bottom of the tree line and the top of the tree line where you can’t hit because your character model can’t go that low or high luckily they do come back out, but with the speed the dogs move the fact they can bypass your wall traps, etc and have only one place where you can hit them there’s no room for error with their hit box. I’m sure this is beatable, but it’s not worth the effort it literally feels like a 2000’s newgrounds game. Also if this was a roguelite where maybe you kept your upgrades and started over it’d be more interesting then oh you start back over at the beginning of the day with the same things over and over try to beat these annoying ass dogs with the tiniest of hitboxes you don’t have enough control over your aim for the speed one hit potential and hit box the dogs possess without some luck or an upgraded shotgun (maybe) if you struggle through the RNG that far. The good part of this game the upgrades are well done and feel super rewarding minus mines mines will kill you from a long ass distance away and traps just place freaking randomly which is dumb put them in a line bro. Why are all my traps spawning at the top of the damn map? Dogs can run straight through the barricade game is for real not worth even a dollar.
