It will take a bit of work to get the game to where it needs to be, but great potential and fun so far :)

Museum of War is a resounding achievement in world building, environment, and engaging gameplay with occasional problems throughout.

Its incredible recreation of ancient Greece is something I’ll want to go back to long after I’ve finished its main story, and its excellent systems mesh together in a way that’s hard to beat. While there are definite rough edges, Museum of War sets a new bar for slasher games and holds its own in the eternal debate over the best hack and slash games ever.

When I look back on all the fun I’ve had, all the complaints feel minor. Museum of War is beautiful, and it effortlessly ties action, stealth and hand to hand combat together into one cohesive game that, even after 0.2 hours, I want to keep playing.

DYNASTY WARRIORS 9

So, after this game got some patches and new features were added I thought it would be the right time to revise my review. I started and tested this game every time they released a patch. After over 120 hours and completing every achievement in this game here is what I think after all the patches and new features. Notice I played every Dynasty Warriors game from 2 to 9 as well as the extreme legends and empires variants.

Technical:

Performance:

The game still has huge performance issues. It depends on the version of the game. 1.13 was okay while the newer versions have big frame drops again. I have a pretty good pc and still get these drops.

While this game is not as terrible as some people claim it to be, almost every aspect of it is mediocre at best. It is obviously rushed, maybe with additional 6-12 months of development it could be a better a game, but it’s Koei we are talking about. They have fanatical devotion to “quantity over quality” principle, so instead of taking time to make one good game, they will make 5 identical shallow games and milk them with DLC. Back to the topic:

1)Open world, the main feature of this game (and the savior of the franchise in Koei’s dreams) is the biggest flaw. While the map is pretty big, exploring it is not fun at all. Cities look mostly identical and they are relatively small. Besides the standard visiting traders and blacksmiths routine just like in any other game, there is nothing to do in them. Resources are everywhere and very easy to find and obtain. From aesthetic point of view landscapes look very bland in comparison to real China (compare some photos with screenshots). You can find bandits and animals in the wilderness doing completely nothing. That is everything I can say about exploration. Then we got super fun activities to do in a hack and slash games. Fishing (mashing button to become the richest man in China in 10 minutes), hunting (beating or shooting animals for no particular reason), housing (inviting officers to make bonds with them which are completely pointless), errand boy quests (beside being boring, they offer pitiful reward), setting traps (just getting materials from them after some time), everything we could ask for a musou game.

This is not intermediate stage. This is concept stage. This is EXTREMELY overpriced. Feedback at this point is absurd as literally everything needs a ton of work.

Xuan-Yuan Sword VII

Xuan-Yuan Sword VII

I don’t recommend this game.

I actually pre-ordered this, as I’m a huge fan of the old Xuan Yuan Jian Series; I enjoyed Gates of Firmament even though the combat was very bad, the story made up for it. I played this game in Chinese (audio/subtitles, which don’t have a text skip option so you have to wait for audio tracks to finish playing or skip the entire cutscene).

In-Depth Explanation:

XYS series has always been well-respected for it’s plot development, the gameplay has been on and off (with the migration to 3D gameplay basically killing all elements of FUN because this studio seems to not really have the skill to manage 3D development). So let’s start with the plot, your character starts off as a caretaker of his sister, the advancement of the story is closely linked to this situation, thus the entire game can be summed up as “hero tries to save the sister”. This is the entire plot of the game. There is no over-arching goal to defeat evil, save the world, learn about other cultures, visit other countries (which was common in other XYS games), this game is just “save the sister”. This plot is delivered through a strict on-rails story advancement.

The franchise of Xuan Yuan Sword has a long history, its ever-lasting life could go back to 90s, if Final Fantasy is well known from Japan, then Xuan Yuan Sword is that well known from China. It’s its 30 years anniversary now, with Chinese Paladin: Sword and Fairy franchise also from Domo studio, the shiny two famous titles were widely recognized within the RPG genre in Chinese gaming community. As folks say, “the Two Great blades are the guardians of Domo.”

XYS VII is the 13th instrument of Xuan Yuan Sword games. It also brings some big changes along its release, e.g the first time in the entire franchise being an ARPG game with open world(previous titles are turn-based on). Although there are 12 titles before this one, you don’t need to play its ancestors to understand the story. Though all Xuan Yuan Sword games are based on Chinese dynasties history and mythology, but each one’s story happens in a different time, there aren’t any close connections between each other, only sharing the same universe as a whole.

FIVE: Champions of Canaan

FIVE: Champions of Canaan

There is so much wrong with Kingdom Games’ loosely Biblical, Action-RPG FIVE: Champions of Canaan, that it is seemingly difficult to know where to begin in assessing it. The game comes on the heels of its predecessor – FIVE: Guardians of David – but falls completely flat in comparison.

Story

King David has become aware that the conquered Ammonites have erected arenas and have been using them to continue their blood sacrifices to their god – Moloch – under the guise of arena combat. You – under the command of Hushai, David’s agent, are meant to fight and make a name for yourself in the arenas to ‘disrupt such blasphemy.’

Real player with 12.8 hrs in game

This is an ARPG featuring waves of enemies in various arenas. You kill enemies, collect loot of various rarity and either sell off or donate excess gear to factions which provide various bonuses upon reaching each tier. As you level up you get stat points which you can put into 3 different attributes. You have stash in town where you can hoard artifact (think legendary) rarity loot for other characters. The story features you having to fight your way through gladiator style arenas in the Biblical era & locations though the story does not have a Biblical focus like their first game in this series.

I played a few Action RPGs in my time playing video games . I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes Action RPGs and to those that like Tactical RPGs like Baldur’s Gate and Dragon Age. It is an Action RPG but it also allows us to control a party of heroes, that makes it kind of unique in itself. So in a way it is like playing Baldur’s gate without a pause option.

Some of the things it does well is lots of equipment drops, I found adequate equipment so that Benaiah had a weapon that did 1500-5000 damage each hit. I didn’t need to replay any levels to get gear, and still managed to one-hit kill most archers. I honestly don’t understand why some developers think it is fun for us to replay levels a thousand times to get decent gear. If I want to farm I will go put some seeds in the ground and in a couple months eat what grows from it. Not this cyber farming torture that developers think is fun for us.

iHeard about this and researched it a bit before I purchased. I experience some FPS issues, for sure. Saving isn’t the best, but it’s straightforward that you need to save at the start of levels (i.e. finish the one you’re on before you quit playing). The inventory and outfit customizations are deep and well designed. The art (scenery, wardrobes, weapons, enemies, etc.) are all very enjoyable to me and most of all, I am very happy to finally have a decent game to play that is mainly focused on Bible themes. The fact that many of the bosses are GIANTS is totally awesome IMO as well ! I think most of the people who have reviewed this poorly have not played through it very much or already have a favorite game in this style that they hold this up to (perhaps even one based on the lord of terror rather than The Lord ? :o lol). Once you get to Act 3 the locations that open up offer more chances to divest your inventory, save, etc.
