Alien Shooter 2 - The Legend

Alien Shooter 2 - The Legend

I’ve been playing Sigma Team’s games for years, and I really like Alien Shooter 2 - The Legend. As someone who has played through AS2 - Reloaded and ZS2 a bunch of times, there is a LOT that I like in this game that expands on the previous titles in interesting but not too overly complicated ways. But there ARE issues with this game that will hopefully be patched in future updates.

I may make a longer post about pros and cons somewhere in the discussions. But for now, I’m going to share only the most enjoyable pros and annoying cons I’ve experienced in my current play through (not as much of a review for new players as more of a feedback report for the developers and any other players familiar with their games).

With update 1.3 the developers finally addressed a major point of criticism: They made the repetitive filler missions optional (destroy X teleporters, kill X aliens, hold position for X minutes, collect X ammo, food, metal, bones, artifacts). Now you can skip them and only do the real campaign missions. This has reduced the amount of mandatory missions to about 70 from a 150 total. This change was very welcome.

At this point I considered a thumbs up, but there’s one thing holding me back: they added an artificial weapon recoil, which makes your crosshair move upwards every single shot. And it only moves up, up, up, and never back. This constantly forces you to reposition your mouse, even when targeting static spots, makes you miss monsters, and shoot walls instead of the actual target. It’s absolutely annoying. This feature has to be removed.

Alien Shooter

Alien Shooter

If you want to see my video review about the game, here it is: https://youtu.be/ABwncnGRCfg

Alien Shooter is an isometric indie shooter game, where you have to shoot aliens and stop the invasion from a millitary complex.

One of the most enjoyable thing in the game, is the music. There are not too many tracks, but which they got is awesome. The sounds are not bad, but sadly there are not too many from them, so it can be annoying to listen to the same sounds.

What I definetly should mention about the game, is the gameplay. So, this is an isometric shooter, with different weapons, character upgrades and bonus equipments. These are fine, and also surprising to see, you can upgrade your character. What is even better, there are 2 of them, which have different advantages and disadvantages. Need to mention the difficulty settings, you can play the game on Easy, Medium or Hard. The game has one main mission in general, which contains 10 levels, however the two DLCs has 5-5 levels, one of the DLC adds 3 new monsters and one new music, too. The different monsters have different abilites and also, they can do more damages too. You think, this is not too much, which is right, but this was the first game for an indie developer team, so this is not a bad progress they get. The game itself is troublesome sometimes, because it can be boring after a short amount of time, also the game in general is not easy. I played through the game on Hard, and it was one of the hardest games I played. Also, the game really likes to make fun of the player, and usually it spawns enemies from nothing or behind it. You need to fight insane amount of enemies too, which can make crazy situations. What is even worse, the alien AI is like a moth, which attracted to a lamp and if you are behind a wall, the aliens are just hug that wall and roar at you. Because of these, I would say, this game is not a great to play, however I need to mention the challange factor. Even tho the game can do dirty, it is a challanging game, which if you playthrough, it will be satisfing… until you not see the ending, which is an outro and a High Score screen. One more thing is giving some plus to the gameplay, and this is the secrets. These can give you resources or early weapons, which can help you out too, Also, the weapons are cool, different and they have their own role.

Charming little indie game from a small developer. I remember playing a disc copy of this game a good 13 or so years ago, picked it up on Steam for the nostalgia. The game is very simple without too much complexity in any realm, but has enough variety and action to deliver on what it promises.

The campaign has ten levels (essentially nine - the first one just involves entering the facility and learning game mechanics, no enemies). For an experienced player, it will take probably around 90-100 minutes. For anybody new to the franchise or unfamiliar with this kind of game, it will probably last a couple hours. The difficulty curve is very fair, and makes it much more satisfying when you reach that point of slaying giant hordes of aliens. The survival mode has more replayability, but in my opinion is too dependent on luck. A couple of the weapons are guaranteed drops from bosses that come at regular intervals, but about half of the weapons can only drop as random loot from killing enemies. Ammo, implants, armor, and gear all drop randomly as well. This is fine for the early part of the survival, but once you get to the armored enemies you won’t last long without speed implants or armor.

Earth’s Shadow

Earth’s Shadow

Earth’s Shadow is a third person action Sci-Fi dungeon crawler set in the year 3081 on planet Sumbra; a remote alien planet where legends of valuable relics surround this black world, calling to the greedy and brave explorers seeking a bright future… but end up uncovering an even darker past.

Working a dead-end job… Alexi-Ru, a cyborg CSP (cargo ship pilot), tends to fill the void-ness of his boring flight job by day-dreaming of the mysterious stories surrounding planet Sumbra, aka Earth’s Shadow.

In the year 3081, the original Earth and it’s galaxy has been dead for centuries, and although a few humans still exist, colonized in far away sectors… Earth’s legacy is not forgotten with some even referring to Sumbra, as the shadow of Earth.

Intrigued by Earth’s history, Alexi-Ru often finds himself flying millions of light-clicks off his normal cargo route just to speed by the mysterious planet, hoping to catch a glimpse of something on the alien surface via radar that might force him to slow down or possibly even stop.

Eventually Alexi-Ru’s curiosity is justified when his ship encounters a malfunction one night, while passing by the tiny planet, forcing him to crash-land on the surface he dreamed of so often on previous flights.

Alexi-Ru remembers his attention right before the impending crash, focused on an un-jostled book, thrown from a compartment during the violent atmosphere re-entry, titled… “When Day-Dreams Turn To Nightmares”

“That doesn’t mean anything,” mumbles Alexi-Ru, trying to re-assure himself as he arms himself with a Tec-9000 semi-automatic and sets forth to explore… Earth’s Shadow.

I can’t believe someone thought it was a good decision to have coop only accessible by talking to your npc buddy ‘Kevin’, who’s not all that easy to find on the map. Even worse, if that player hits the wrong button they wind up ejected from the game and you must search for Kevin once again to enable coop mode—even if he’s on the other side of the map! Another terrible aspect is the combat. There is absolutely no weight to your attacks which makes the fight sequences deeply unsatisfying. It’s like swinging at bags of feathers. I just don’t get how the developers could nerf the fighting to the extent that it is simply not fun when it is such an integral part the game. It makes no sense whatsoever. The missions are very repetitive, fetch quests, chases, kill a certain number of enemies or solve an easy puzzle. That is the gameplay in a nutshell. Overall, the open world does provide some decent platforming moments and neat areas to explore but I’d probably hold off for a sale as there are better games out there.

The missions are repetitive and almost the same and the characters feels like bots and doesnt feel alive not to mention how dumb the quizzes are, the world is so dead and doesnt feel fun to go around and explore, also they picked one of the weakest villains in the entire show literally, It would have been better if the main villain was Vilgax or a punch of weak villains not one

ok that was the bad things the good things is the transformation system, you feel like the master of the omnitrix and u can do a mix of every alien attack by simply transforming into each one every 2 seconds to feel the nostalgia

So, i played Red Solstice before and i tried this one not specially hyped about the change in gameplay, but i was happily surprised by this game

The game is overall good for me, good graphics, fluid gameplay, the first missions of story mode used as a tutorial in disguise but still with enough difficulties to be called missions. made it run on high definition without fps drop or graphic anomaly

We have 4 classes, each with it’s own mecanics : Assault (good melee and shooter), Demolition (heavy use of skills), Hellfire (Tank and crowd control), and Terminator (Powerful but decrease suit integrity with each used skills)

Space Commander: War and Trade

Space Commander: War and Trade

Very fun game that plays alot like a simplified single player version of Elite Dangerous. Game is new and a work in progress with easy to use controls and it definitely has alot of potential and I cant wait to see what new stuff gets added in the future.

As you progress through the campaign you are given a handful of ships for free to use and as you gain credits from doing jobs on the job board or from trading goods back and forth from planet to planet you can buy more ships and upgraded them. Jobs can range from transporting a prisoner to a location, to smuggling weapons or transporting some other goods, to destroying a band of pirate ships plaguing a system or take out a pirate space station or even fighting a large capital ship. As you do jobs and trade with planets and space stations you gain reputation that increases the amount of money you receive for completing a job and get better deals when buying and selling goods from trade. Also as you do jobs and take part in battles with pirates or trade goods you will slowly level up and get skill points that you can put into things like lowering the cost of gas or ammo, lowing your ship repair cost, doing more damage, lower the cost of buying and upgrading ships, and lower the chance of being detected and attacked by pirates while trading and so on.

Edit 15 DEC: I made a beginner’s guide in order to explain some confusing aspects of the game. I still recommend this game after playing for many hours.

https://youtu.be/YmaRok9y_tg

Edit 2 DEC: This is a REALLY fun game and it’s very expansive (not expensive). I have been playing it for a while now and I wanted to edit my review. I have come very close to automating making money (thanks to a viewer who posted some great advice), the ship upgrades DO matter, there are three campaigns, etc. I bought the mega-pack, which is basically the pay-not-to-grind-for-eight-dollars thing for $8:
