One Shell Straight to Hell
(Review was updated on Dec 2021) I’ve spent many hours alpha-testing this game and decided to buy it on release day. Here are my thoughts so far, a list of positive and negative elements:
The good stuff:
-
Uniquely witty main character.
-
Good variety of unlockable skills and lootable guns, be it primaries or secondaries.
-
The setting: a terribly haunted mansion property set in the 1910’s - 1920’s.
-
The Padre’s voice actor probably smoked 10 cigars and drank too much whiskey. Fantastic.

One Shell Straight to Hell
There’s a brand-new Roguelike indie title on the streets; One Shell Straight to Hell. One Shell Straight to Hell lets the player experience the best of two worlds with its well-put-together Roguelike dungeon-crawling gameplay with a touch of base defense elements mixed in.
At first glance, the game seems to be simple enough with its Procedural Generation World. But as you cross the first stage after finishing a base defense wave, the game becomes something much more.

I love roguelikes, but this one is a huge miss.
Power doesn't creep as much as it explodes. The damage difference between levels is huge. Without defensive skills to offset that damage, or a *practical* way to get permanent health/speed/defense increases, you'll hit very significant walls.
Practically speaking, the anvil is nigh useless. It's only available in the base, and given the decay rates for weapons and armor, it's not worth investing the significant time needed to pass a run to haul a limited amount of gems back to modify equipment that will be replaced in 1-2 levels anyway due to power creep. Max HP gems don't give a reasonable amount of HP per gem to warrant holding on to them, and since you lose everything if you die, unless you can clear it in one shot, there's no sense in taking any.

The game is nice.
A good concept. I juste unlock the second portal and got kill by monster after. The art is nice it look like Barony. At start you will die more often cause you dont have good skill with weapon but later on first stage wil be easy.
### Goal
-get good and level up
-unlocking these portal by killing things
-find nice gear to suvive
### Pros
-You get level by using the same type of weapont so it get easier to progrest trough the game
-Can save stuff for another run by throwing them back in the portal a nice feature i think.

## Revulsion
Boring, characterless, ugly and often annoying enemies. Similarly characterless maps. Pointless gimmicky voxel art design. Depressing tuneless ambient music and/or depressing generic "heavy" rock, depending on the area.
****The shooting's decent but any potential is smudged by the drab setting and the painfully amorphous enemies.****
So, you have your map, which you traverse gaily and while double jumping merrily on your way, you set off switches, grab spawn triggering objectives, funnel enemies into choke points and roller bomb the poo out of them. This is doctor jekyll.

Revulsion is a blocky homage to old school shooters like Doom, where the story is "Here's a gun, go kill things", and the levels are big and easy to navigate. The environments are bright, the style is fun, and the sound effects really pop from the speakers to let you know what's going on.
I played this game when it was very early Alpha and absolutely LOVED it. Then, everything changed because the dev thought it was too easy. The difficulty became brutal, and the gameplay became hugely unbalanced and very repetitive. The novel unusual levels of the early alpha became warrens of grey metal, and I stopped playing it for almost two years. I came back to it periodically, would start a new game, but always ended up battering my head off an unkillable baddie, and left it again.

## Paranautical Activity: Deluxe Atonement Edition
Another early access game gone astray, this game had so much potential till 1) the devs are the worst 2) sold out quick 3) released an unfinished game.
The grindy industrial music adds a lot to this epileptic bullet hell fps but everything else in this game is extremely lacking. Stylistically, this game is total garbage. There is no consistency to any of the art you find in the game and the "nautical" of this game is forced in to what seems like a random set of enemies. You're on a nazi ship and you'll find anything from moths to snails if you get the just. They only have two different room backgrounds they apply to rooms with different torch placements. Yes you heard that right two room backgrounds on a FINISHED GAME IN A GAME WHERE YOU ONLY GO INTO ROOMS. And the graphics oh my lord the graphics. These graphics looked like they were made by a 15 year old learning how to use voxel. Holy shit are they just flat out terrible.

I have very mixed feelings about Paranautical Activity. Almost every positive about the game is countered with a negative, yet I'd still recommend it to players who are really into roguelites and mid-90's first-person shooters (and don't mind a game that looks and sounds like crap, if I'm being honest). They could get a few hours of genuine fun out of it, and maybe even find it addicting, like I have. However, if you're not totally in love with both of those genres, the game's flaws will probably be too much to ignore.

## The Forgettable Dungeon
i bought this game during the kickstarter campaign. it's a fun game but i keep dying lol
it's a shame linux support was dropped, but the version of Torque used doesn't really work well with modern linux distros. it works well enough with proton but split screen is broken.

This is a great game and it's just starting. If you're looking for a co-op adventure this is definitely a top recommendation, though that's not to say it can't be enjoyed alone. Everybody I've introduced through the split screen function loved it and went on to buy the game for themselves. The world is varied enough that no two runs ever feel too similar, and there's still secrets and entire dungeons I haven't been able to figure out even after 50 hours player.
If you run into any issues, I would encourage you not to give up right away. The developer is engaging and passionate about his project, and very quick to fix any reported issues. It gives me great hope that this game will continue to thrive and only become an even more enjoyable experience.

## DESERT KILL
```
Written By Hidden Gems Review : https://store.steampowered.com/curator/38624426/
```
Desert Kill is a voxel/cartoonish roguelike where you can see the rainy blood. 😂
The game has simple mechanics but still it's fun play it, but still early access with a lot of work for do, for example the aim of this game it's kinda off, hard to hit the targets.
The graphics are ok but the visuals and the explosions with rainy blood make you say… woah nice job ! Also there are really good details of the game like the corpses become first squeletons and later dissapear.

### Featured in my Lost on Steam New Episode!
Rather just check the video instead of read? Me too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Iiq0lBjT4Q
I started a new short segment called "Lost on Steam" which features games that have few reviews for one reason or another. Definitely not necessarily negative, just games that slipped by people.
This is one of the featured games this week!
Desert Kill is honestly a fun roguelite. It has varied missions and weapons and each of your plays will be a little different. There are heroes, perks and weapons to unlock as you play and the combat keeps you on your toes with a bullet-hell ish design. You'll need to stay frosty on your dodge button if you want to get through all of the areas.
