Super Grave Snatchers

Super Grave Snatchers

Raise the dead. Kill people. Raise them, too.

There are also spells like fireballs and soul tornadoes, if you don’t want your minions to have all of the fun.

Campaign is not long, but there’s a sandbox mode and a survival mode that you can unlock, also.

Super Grave Snatchers is a short, beautifully retro, necromantically witty and very engaging game.

The controls are simple enough, and fairly intuitive. On higher difficulties, the length of the game makes the creative permadeath fun rather than a chore (I recommend at least 2 Cheat Death items, because you basically have 1 HP). On lower difficulties, well, it’s a blast to just run around necromant-ing everything in sight. :D

As for the musical score - ::chef’s kiss::

The Unliving

The Unliving

The realm of the living has been corrupted to its core and a storm is coming to change the world order. This storm is you, a mighty Necromancer, a sorcerer who denies death and leads the legions of the dead. Clerics and lords hope to hide behind high walls, but there’s no stronghold to cover them from your wrath. Smite hundreds of those standing in your way and turn them into your tools on the way to a greater purpose.

The Unliving is a dynamic rogue-lite action RPG with strategic elements. Raise the undead, use numerous spells and explore a mystical world, all realised with darkly extravagant pixel-art.

TURN ENEMIES INTO YOUR UNDEAD ARMY

Each fallen foe can be resurrected and added to your army to create unlimited legions of the dead. These re-animated creatures have their own unique abilities, such as the undead Priest whose blessings in life, will now curse your enemies in death.

CRUSH EVERYONE IN YOUR WAY

Only some of the living are helpless victims, the rest can retaliate against your forces. They hold the line, move in large groups and wield powerful abilities too. They cherish their lives and will not fall easily, so unleash hell as the Undead Lord to bring them to their knees.

CONQUER UNCHARTED LANDS

The world is randomly generated for each run and is richly populated with an array of creatures, artefacts, secret rooms and deadly traps. Each part of the world is occupied by a variety of living inhabitants - invade villages and slay feeble peasants to reinforce your army or engage in a desperate fight to the death in the swamps against formidable foes.

UNRAVEL THE MYSTERIES OF NECROMANCY

Collect cryptic notes, force answers out of your enemies and study the writings of the ancient artefacts to gather the lost memories of the Necromancer piece by piece as you reveal the nature of his immortality, the secrets of his phylactery companion and find out the grim truth about the supreme hierarchies of the Church.

BATTLE EPIC BOSSES

The powerful creatures of this shadowy world will do all they can to stop you. Each boss has a unique fighting style and set of abilities, meaning deftness in combat and strategic thinking will be crucial in emerging victorious from these grueling encounters.

DIE AND RISE AGAIN

The ability to deny death itself is the greatest secret of the Necromancer. Another mortal strike is merely a setback for him. Take a lesson from your death and don’t let your enemies catch you the same way twice.

Skul: The Hero Slayer

Skul: The Hero Slayer

Incredibly fun roguelite. The combat itself is fairly simple and it gets cluttered pretty fast but there’s so many different skulls which have all been fleshed out since Early Access and the items are generally flashy and impactful.

When I get a fully upgraded or legendary skull and a bunch of items that fill the screen with an absolute nonsense mish mash of projectiles, explosions, pieces of enemies and gold it’s probably the most fun I’ve had with a game of this genre.

The visuals are also very charming and there’s some very nice music. Highly recommended.

Skul is a game that i’ve needed write a small review about for a while now. This game has a extreme difficulty curve but once you figure out how the game works it becomes slightly easier, but there is one minor gripe, and that sometimes runs can be extremely RNG based. Along with that the game isn’t entirely here, but the devs are working hard to push updates for this game and instead of nerfing any powerful skulls, they just rebalance skulls that are lackluster.

Fission Superstar X

Fission Superstar X

A good side scroller shooter roguelike game. Graphics are tight, but fit for the genre and run without bugs. The concept is cool and bizarre: player must try to travel trought solar system in a starship carryng a powerfull bomb , fighting enemies, landing in every planet to offer an odd concert or blow it. Mechanics is well and simple; there are 9 vehicles to unblock, one for each planet blowed, 3 main types of weapons, many kinds of common foes, 10 mini-bosses and planetary bosses.

The action sets in a highway shown by a side view-screen, with varios diferent events and obstacles, like big starships, space creatures, asteroids and mine fields, ion and solar storms… Player can hires until 4 crew to operate the 4 weapons domes, to pilot, connect the shield, repare ship or heal other members. Every passanger has 3 skills with 10 grades each. There is no map, only a long way in 9 stages of increasing difficulty with encounters randomized, like shops to buy weapons and enhances for the 4 starship parameters or place to hire and heal crew.

If you liked Death Skid Marks (the creator if this game was a co-developer of that one) you will like Fission Superstar X. Similar gameplay, different setting, same sense of humor. Be warned, it is a roguelite, so it can be brutal. Even a single misstep can destroy your ship and end your run. That said, it is designed to be played over and over. There are many ships to unlock and tons of different things about the game to discover. There is a lot of quality playtime here for not a whole lot of money.

Night of the Blood Moon

Night of the Blood Moon

I got the game on the Halloween sale for 79 cents, and since it was sitting in my wishlist for a while i thought i’d finally buy it. Absolutely not disappointed. The design and graphics are simple but really good, the gameplay is smooth, controls are easy to get used to, the game provides a fair difficulty and my god, the music. I personally put a lot of value in a good soundtrack and notBM did anything but let me down on that one. Real banger. Bit disappointed the soundtrack from the trailer isnt in, or i missed it, though i’ve finished the game before, but either way the game is definitely worth it and fully recommend buying it.

Review:

Tight twinstick frenetic action roguelite that reminds me of games like Enter the Gungeon and Binding of Isaac. Easily recommended!

This game has solid and precise mouse/keyboard controls, a catchy soundtrack, uniformly beautiful pixel art and animation, and most of all, a fun game loop.

You’re basically a psychotic road runner that invades dreams and beats up cute and adorable stuff, which you accomplish with your fists or with one of a few different ranged weapons including a boomerang, crossbow, hookshot, magical orb, and more.
