Killer Bean

Killer Bean

After being betrayed by the Shadow Agency and learning the truth about their evil ways, Killer Bean has made it his life goal to destroy them. Yet this is easier said than done, as Killer Bean will face armies of enemies, and mysterious Shadow Beans who are better trained and more powerful than him.

This is a third person, roguelike shooter. Every time you start a new single player campaign, everything changes. The locations change, the missions change, the characters change, the bosses change, and most of all, the story changes. Characters who you trusted before, may turn against you. Enemies who tried to kill you, may end up helping you. Simple missions can turn into deadly traps. No two campaigns are the same.

Key Features

  • Totally procedurally generated missions and story, packed with plot twists and surprises

  • Level up Skill Trees for your style of play: Stealth, Melee Combat, Parkour, Guns Blazing

  • Different factions of enemies who all dislike each other

  • Ragdolls and physics combat galore

  • Lots of vehicles to drive, and lots of weapons to try

  • Main characters that roam the map, who will either help you or hurt you

  • Design your own Shadow Beans that will hunt down Killer Bean

  • Create your own missions

BELOW

My first impressions when I started playing were all on a strong positive note, I was blown away by things such as beautiful visuals, dark atmosphere, melancholic ambient-drone soundtrack, zero hand holding, the amount of secrets that it has and the list just goes on.. You also have to manage your character’s hunger, thirst, body temperature. When I figured out how to reach the first hidden treasure it was incredibly satisfying! It sort of feels like a mixture between certain Zelda titles and Ico from PS2 combined with dark moody tones. The penalty for dying in this game is done in the most brutal way possible, it definitely adds a lot of stress and tension to it.. I loved it and hated it at the same time. It may feel like each time they diminish all your hours of progress back to zero, but it’s not true. The knowledge is the most important vital part in this game, lack of direction and information is what makes it difficult. Once you get the hang of controls and mechanics, you will only get better and with each new floor that you explore or the lower you descend, it feels like a milestone.

At first I was wowed like many of you by the art style. The dark and solemn trips to the floors below reminded me of Dark Souls, and because I had never played a Zelda game on the SNES, I was looking forward to the idea of getting a newer idea in an older genre.

The zoomed out nature of the game highlights your weaknesses, and gives the game a romantic look that the lighting plays around with beautifully. The combat feels responsive, deliberate, and consistent. The items in the game that you receive are empowering. The different zones are interesting, harrowing, and constantly spur on the curiosity the game wants of you. And with that exploration, the game rewards you. It really wants to help you.

Genesis Alpha One Deluxe Edition

Genesis Alpha One Deluxe Edition

This game feels more like a concept in progress rather than a finished product. I have to state this one thing before I start saying anything else. The concept is great, too. But the game-play feels lackluster without more content to flesh out the existing gameplay.

You will spend about 80% of the time mining resources on planets and salvaging resources with a tractor beam while fighting aliens whether you do it yourself or send your clones to do it. The available resources are incredibly limiting and often infuriating in how little is available for what you need despite entire planets that realistically would have more than just the one patch of resources you could collect.

Genesis Alpha One Deluxe Edition Review

A strange and unique experience awaits…

Some key points that this game offers:

  1. New Game Plus

  2. Multiple Endings

  3. Sandbox experience

Gameplay & Controls:

The controls for the game are fair and easy enough to make use of. The game handles pretty decently as well. Whether you are on a planet fighting off attackers or crawling through your shafts clearing out infestations.

Combat is pretty average, to be honest, and not that well balanced either. Your favourite weapon will be the pistol since it doesn’t run out of ammo and is far easier to make use of. The game is a mixture of ship building, exploration and simulation elements. As you explore planets and debris, you upgrade your ship to accommodate more crew members and gain access to newer technologies to make surviving easier. You don’t really manage your crew, they go about their own thing, food, water, and all those needs are non-existent, which is a let-down.

Cannibal Crossing

Cannibal Crossing

I rarely buy full priced games but Cannibal Crossing is an exception due to Death Road to Canada.

The game is enjoyable yet frustrating with bugs, crazy difficulty scaling Days 1-4 is easy, 5-6 sometimes its hard depending on RNG ( AI aggro is random) beyond 7 gets crazy and you just die from lack of ammo, food, black sludge infection and when you run out stamina running and dodging Negatives even if your stamina skills are maxed out. Due to the pacing of the game I have to prioritize on certain skills like dodge, maxing health and stamina recovery in normal mode. There’s a lot of bugs and needs more polishing, there are times I still get hit from Boss attacks after I defeat them and I die which is frustrating to start all over . Base building is fun but also takes a lot of resources away if you have to build ammo.

Can’t recommend this game in its current state.

Lacking so many things that would makes it playable.

Game says its coop(couch coop in the same house, forget remote play and parsec, not worth the hassle), but that is on my top 5 worst coop experience in my book. why?

The more people you are the harder the game is(that is some what fair BUT!), to the point where if your 4 players, killing just one zombie in the beginning is a hassle, also a weird thing the more players the faster in game time goes and its a pretty big issue since everything gets harder the longer you stay, in solo you can loot, kill and set up a base in the first day, coop…. not so much, before my friends and I could even loot a few houses it was night and horde time. So everybody died, the game spawned us at different places on the map, but centered the camera view between us, so impossible to regroup and we ended up just not playing the game. We did manage build a few items for a base to scrap weapons, always awesome the spend materials to build stuff that just doesn’t work, like it literally didn’t work, no interaction with the machine at all. no quick “break down” in inventory.

FIGHT

Due to the curse, travelling through Eventide Hollow is quite dangerous, with many enemies that you will have to deal with. Thankfully, Travelers are well versed in handling all kinds of weaponry, from swords and bows to handguns and… grenade launchers?

Discover a variety of traditional and nontraditional weapons. Upgrade your stats by collecting hundreds of different items, including special weapons, and utilizing item skills to bring destruction to the dark creatures of the Hollow!

Due to the curse, most towns in Eventide Hollow were destroyed. Now only ruins and corruption indicate what once was a beautiful kingdom. Those that remain are hidden in plain sight. Hope is the only thing left for the surviving inhabitants – but even that is vanishing.

During your journeys, you will have the opportunity to restore the Hollow to its former glory! Upgrading shops and homes, rebuilding towns, and improving the Hollow will help you on your future journeys.

All towns are upgradeable via their shops and storefronts. Each town has a number of common amenities that are uniquely essential to it. Upgraded towns will reward you with many benefits and also allow you access to the local Stonk Market! It allows you to invest in local businesses and grow your influence and wealth throughout the Hollow.

STORY

Eventide Hollow was a lovely kingdom where its people lived in peace. It was once a vast land with free roaming folks and expanding villages, but now it is filled with darkness, strange creatures, and guarded townsfolk. It seems peace doesn’t last forever.

A horrible curse was laid upon the land and Eventide Hollow fell into despair. The source of the curse was also its only protection from it… the Holomento.

The Holomento traps the souls of all who possess it, the mysterious book affixes itself to those who seek passage through the Hollow. If the Traveler dies, their soul is also added to the Holomento before it returns to its resting place awaiting the next traveler.

Once acquired, the book is tied to the soul of the traveler holding it. The Holomento cannot leave the Eventide Hollow and therefore any Traveler who possesses it cannot leave the land.
