Okhlos: Omega

Okhlos: Omega

This is indeed a pretty fun game when it comes down to its core gameplay. I’m not sure about the price tag associated with this but will gladly gives this an enthusiastic thumbs up if can pick this game up for 10 bucks or less.

The best thing about this game is that it’s very east to pick up and play. There really isn’t much to it other than running around and picking up citizens along the way to add to your mob and wreck every thing and every one that stands in your way.

It isn’t all about just running around though. There are times in which you have to defend against certain types of attacks an enemy makes and when to rally the mob together to avoid a trap or hazard.

Time to dispense some mob justice on Zeus & his pals as we get to lace up our sandals and head out on an Odyssey worth writing Homer about in - Okhlos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUfkg3Wq0dA

Probably best described as a mob-handed, roguelite brawler you lead a group of disgruntled Greeks across the ancient world to the gates of Mount Olympus. Your goal - to destroy all the gods. But rather than taking the old Kratos, God of War approach you don’t actually get you hands dirty. Instead you get your horde of fighters, slaves and citizens to do all the head bashing for you. Sending them chasing after your target reticle in something akin to a twin-stick rampage of destruction.

Hades

Hades

The Story is quite simple. You are the Son of Hades and You wish to See your mother Persephone in order to discover your family history. Unfortunately, 4 levels of Underworld Separate You and your mother, and on top of that, Your father has made sure that each floor is loaded with traps, enemies and bosses, so that you never get to see your mother.

The game Essentially Plays as a rogue light with randomly generated levels. In Order to get stronger, You need to select rooms containing God boons which serve as the game’s upgrade system. The boons are random and of various kinds with different levels of rarity. The idea is to select the right rooms as to create a “build” for your character depending on which base weapon you started of with. In addition, there are various upgrades and bonuses ranging from health upgrades, stat multipliers, power ups to secondary attack hammers.

Absolutely fantastic game that is re-playable over and over.

I’ve been playing for well over 100+ hours and the story and dialogue has been continuous, with next to no repeated dialogue. The game and story progresses with you and your skill level, so whether you are taking it leisurely or whether you’re a speed runner, it has a massive amount of combinations of dialogue depending on what you’re doing, which weapon you’re wielding, which trinkets you’re holding, which God’s boons you’ve previously chosen, the relationship level between certain characters.

Great game, art and gameplay. However, the text for the abilities is so small!! I like the upgrades for the characters. I hope to see more video games from Peru soon!

There used to be a big review with criticism here. I develop my own games myself, and delve into game design. There are a few controversial points in this game, but overall everything is fine. I was wrong about some things, so I’m changing my review.

Thanks to the game developer for the answer! It helped me to understand the game a little better. It’s funny, but when I played the game in the morning, I didn’t encounter the problems that I noticed in my review. And it’s not that they were fixed, but that I was terribly tired and sleepy when I played the game. In fact, I just needed to get some sleep! x)

Asura: Vengeance Edition

Asura: Vengeance Edition

(I see that some people have issues with keyboard controls - note I’ve only played on a gamepad.)

First and foremost, I am not a fan of the permadeath in this game. I know, I know, “Rogue Like” and all that jazz, but it’s simply not my preferred play style; I’m a much more “casual” type of gamer these days and permadeath just does not jive with how I play. To wit: I’ve played for about 90 minutes now and have yet to beat the first set of 4 floors because I get frustrated and quit when sent back to the very beginning. I just don’t have the patience to GIT GUD and it’s disappointing because the game is very fun to play.

I like “action RPG” genre and I like “roguelike” genre too. But that doesn’t mean I like every “action RPG roguelike” game out there.

Asura’s logo immediately caught my attention (the red demon leaning out, sword and bow in hand, with an expression of pure hatred and anger on his face… oh yeah!), so I decided to give it a try.

I usually don’t ask for refunds: with all the reviews and let’s plays available I think there are no excuses (except human laziness) for doing so. Thus, when I say “to give it a try”, I mean an “aware and irrevocable try”, and this enhances my post-purchase emotions and judgements (either good or bad).

Darkened Glory

Darkened Glory

First and foremost you have to keep in mind that this game is in the alpha version / early access, and it could be changed by the time it is a final product. The mechanics of the game are similar to a Souls style games, it’s not yet polished but it has the basics. It currently just has an Arena for PvP, but there will be Singleplayer / CO-OP campaign too in the future. It has a distinct Slavic / European flair to it, which i personally very like. The recent updated came along with level editor which is a nice feature. Optimization is usually really good with drops (drops occur from the fire animations, devs are aware of it and will fix it eventually), i have a 1060 6gb, i7, 16gb ram and i am in the 100-144fps range. Final verdict: buy the game if you want to support it’s development, it’s unpolished currently, but looking at how much the game is updated, a year from now the game will be in a completely different state, i can only assume it’s going to be in a better state!

a very fun game !! the maps are very good quality and the characters are consistent with the type of game darkened glory is.

Setting Sun

Setting Sun

Setting Sun is an Co-op Rogue-lite Dungeon Crawler.

It’s set in a universe during the Japanese Edo period where Yokai roam the world freely.

The land is in turmoil because the Shogun rules with an iron fist.

A couple of wanderers answer the call to help mankind and fight the source of the corruption together.

THE SHOGUN’S DOMAIN

Traverse through a randomly generated room-based dungeon covering multiple zones on your way to the castle.

Several different types of rooms can be discovered on your way to the boss like enemy rooms, healing rooms, gamble rooms,…

THE SHINTO PANTHEON WATCHES OVER YOU

You have a chance to discover Dragon Shrines in the dungeon which will allow you to alter your abilities for that dungeon run.

So each time you start a new dungeon run you can try out a different build.

REBUILD THE VILLAGE

Aside from the dungeon the game also contains a village.

The village is like a sanctuary for the player where he can roam around before and after dungeon runs, talk to NPCs, buy upgrades, craft gear and more!

When you first start the game, the town is pretty abandoned.

But along your travels in the dungeon, you have a chance to find new characters to recruit to your town which unlocks new features.

For example finding Masamune on your travels will unlock the blacksmith in town and will allow you to craft new gear with better stats.

THE WANDERER

Multiple classes are planned but the first playable class in Setting Sun is the Ronin.

A Ronin was a Samurai without a master. An expert in the art of sword fighting but one who chose not to honor the code of the Warrior and thus considered “on his own” or a vagrant.

MAIN FEATURES

  • Slice your way through a procedurally generated dungeon

  • Master a skill-based fighting system

  • Learn the ways of the Ronin class (and several other classes planned)

  • Fight the Shogun’s army, thiefs, Yakuza and even Yokai

  • Try out different builds each run by discovering new blessings

  • Play the game solo or couch co-op

  • Recruit new allies and bring life back to the village

  • Unlock new buildings and features in town

  • Find new patterns to craft different gear sets or cook new Sushi dishes

  • Enjoy a unique trapanese soundtrack

  • Take a relaxing bath in the hot springs

Crumbling World

Crumbling World

If you enjoy hack and slash top down rogue-likes like Diablo, Baldur’s Gate and Champions of Norrath, I encourage you to give this game a shot. I greatly enjoy this game. I have spent many hours in it’s world through the different characters and game modes. Each character plays different and each get their own attacks, so there is a character for everyone. The special attacks (combo attacks) are gained by defeating certain bosses at the end of each part of the world map. Outside of that, you have a basic attack that can be used in sequences to slay your foes, a jump, a dodge roll and a portal to get you back to a non-falling part of the map.

Real player with 10.5 hrs in game

This is a fun arcade game. I recommend it if you like Hack and Slash games, probably too simple if you are looking for a full RPG experience.

The combat can feel basic at the beginning but it gets more interesting once you start unlocking special attacks. You can choose from 7 different player characters with very different skills. Trying new characters is fun as each of them unlock different special attacks. The big variety of enemies and regions/landscapes in addition to the the procedural generation make the game very different in each playthrough.
