Neon Chrome
The game says my total play time is 6h 22m. Steam must be counting all the time the application has been running to come up with the 14h I’m seeing.
EDIT: play time is now around triple the first review’s
Pros:
-
Good amount of options in weapons and ability loadouts
-
Good balance overall - even if you get to a point where you’re a killing most enemies with 1 shot, there are elements to keep it from becoming a cakewalk
-
Story fits my playstyle – I don’t want to be bored to tears by a novel of backstory. I came to play a game, not read a book. This game has exactly the right amount of forced story, imo. And for me, it doesn’t hurt that it’s a sci-fi with Shadowrun-style elements.

A winning mix of twin-stick shooting and roguelike that stands its ground against the best in both genres.
I was almost about to pass this one, after the first playthrough of a tutorial that left me a very “meh” sensation: bland graphics and sound, apparently nothing new in the gameplay department… Fortunately, I made a second attempt a couple of weeks later, or I would have missed a little gem.
First of all, forget about top-notch graphics and sound, because you will find very little there: Neon Chrome is all about the gameplay.

Delver
Picked up Delver during the Steam Sale. Definitely worth the $3 it cost.
I wouldn’t call it ‘3d’ in more than a limited sense, it feels a lot more like Doom’s 2.5d- 3d environments, sprite monsters, etc. Still, it’s one save file you can’t back up and one life in a randomly generated roguelike. It actually makes for a pretty cool story:
I started off in a little camp with a couple of shopkeepers and the obligatory guest appearance of Old Man Exposition, who explained that there was a MacGuffin at the bottom of yonder dungeon. He also seemed troubled that people kept going in but never coming out. More on that later.

Big ol' TLDR:
Me, myself and I actually enjoy this game, and not just because I bought into it waaay back into pre-release and “feel obligated to pretend my money’s worth it”, I’ve had a genuinely good time with it thus far, and what’s here is quality.
I just have a few issues that makes me feel I can’t fully recommend this to someone else, unless I know they like what I do, but that said, I would definitely make this a tentative recommendation was it more stable. And as a sidenote, because I bought in early, my time played isn’t 100% indicative of everything I’ve gotten out of it.

Starward Rogue
(Review updated on August 14th 2016)
Now that I beat the 3 wardens and finally completed a full run, I think it’s a good time to write a small review.
The game is a healthy mix of roguelite and bullethell. Think Binding of Isaac with mechs and lasers, where the huge selection of enemies all have very unique styles of attacks. But don’t get scared by the Bullethell tag, it’s not the “barf bullets all over your screen and call it a day” bullethell, it’s more like “each pattern is a little puzzle you have to solve to dodge it” bullethell.

Starward Rogue
After spending more time in Starward Rogue. I have 30% of the game unlocked. I wanted to modify my review to be a bit better reflection of the game. If you want the super short review: The game is very good, even at full price. If you want the short ‘comparison’ review : the game is like The Binding of Issac, or Enter the Gungeon in spirit and replay-ability. Starward Rogue and those other two games I would consider the best top-down rogue games currently available on steam. For a side scroller: Rogue Legacy is good.

SYNTHETIK 2
Is this game fun? Early game is frustrating. The upgrade system is overhauled. Don’t expect synthetik 1. Think of it as a knock off. similar mechanics, and familiar look, but new game. Items work different, upgrades you stack up till you hit a keosk and then upgrade all you want. Cost varies based on rarity. I think.
Are upgrades new? yeah. Same as before? kinda, similar. Same goes with guns, and items.
Now the bad.
-The AI wayfinding/pathmaking is broken. The AI is stupid.

To summarize my thoughts, try the game if the following applies to you:
•You’ve never played Synthetik
•You didn’t like the first Synthetik for minor or unfixed reasons.
•You like fresh experiences.
•You enjoy a good game, regardless of genre or predefined categorization made by the masses.
•You enjoy a thumping, lively soundtrack with plenty of room for quiet time.
•You enjoy great audible feedback, and the virtual, kinetic feedback associated with fantastic audio design.
•You enjoy science fiction.

TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity
Very good daily run roguelite tower climber. The lack of a primary attack and reliance on a single slow-recharge bomb makes the entire thing feel a lot more like a danmaku game than a platformer. Characters are pretty diverse and have completely different styles of bomb attack which leads to needing to play them in completely different ways. Using the foxgirl you need to hold back and allow the missiles to home, while the maid boy (cute) needs to get very close and whack into enemies. Powerups being random and tied to player corpses makes each run feel just unique enough to make you change up your playstyle, but the powerups are weak enough that succeeding in a run still feels like a test of skill instead of luck.

even though it’s in early access game you can still enjoy what the game offers! the gameplay is very fun even without a “normal attack” as you journey through the tower you learn you use your skill better and find better items to assist you.
the graphics are amazing and the pixel art style just has a unique charm that just makes everything so cute! the game reminds me of older arcade games I used to play
the game easily worth $10 and can offer tons of fun.
the social features are very fun and I hope that they get expanded on more!

Zombie camping
Awesome tiny game to relax and shoot some zombies. It’s still on early access, but is playable and enjoyable. Hope devs will add achievements.

I love zombie games, especially those that are from the third person, and then there is also an unusual approach where we need to camp in order to play.
There are 5 types of weapons in the game, but it can be improved, there are also waves of zombies that become stronger

GAMEPLAY
I am using the Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X Stick and it works out perfectly well. Although there are no presettings for using a Joystick, the setup is pretty quick and easy. You can personalize all buttons very well and thus, I strongly recommend using a joystick or better a HOTAS for the game, which I believe is crucial for the fun factor of the game.
Gameplay feels GREAT. You can literally feel all the properties of the different plane types you are flying and the effects of how you fly. The principle is very easy to learn and becomes more and more challenging, as you fly different random mission from your base (A flying Aircraft carrier). You will have to either destroy enemy bases on the ground in awesome bombing runs or battle bogeys and aces in challenging dogfights with your steadily growing arsenal of all different sorts of weapons. Once you successfully complete a mission and return to your base, a new mission will wait for you. With every mission you complete, your enemies will get stronger and harder to ward off, but if you die once, you will be back at the beginning and have to start all over again. All upgrades you afforded will also be lost.

I have been playing this game since it first went into early access and now that it has been released I can say that it’s not that good. I was hoping that the issues I was having would get fixed up but now that it’s been released I am giving up on that ever happening.
The game isn’t terrible by any stretch of the imagination, I wouldn’t have played 45hrs of it if it was. Rather it has some fundamental design features which mean its just not that fun. This game is a great example of a sound game (a few bugs here and there but nothing game breaking) that falls flat because design choices which encourage unfun play.
