Great roguelike game with a considerable amount of content for an early access. Play style revolves around obtaining masks each of which offers their own moveset and special abilities. Powerups that upgrade passives and items that give unique effects can also be found along the way. Game gets progressively intense and fast pace like most other action roguelike games with stronger enemies appearing/hoarding you.

Only downsides are level design and lack of sound effects/music. Visually levels look great but level design can be simplified into an open area with spots that I can walk in and spots that I can only temporarily walk around in. Cause of this levels hold little differences besides enemies, chests, alters. Later levels do have more gimmicks in terms of level design but it would be nice to see an improvement on this in general.

where’s your god now huh

**Actual Review:

This game has (for a former flash game) really nice graphics, banger soundtracks (Basement 1 is op imo), smooth controls (uses arrow keys and wasd or wasd and mouse, don’t waste your time on shooting with mouse man.) and performance. I love that the story is much deeper than what you thought when you first started playing, I won’t say too much but Christianity is involved. TBOI has a big replay value because of the endless combination of various items found in the dungeons and multiple characters with different starting items and health variations that get unlocked by playing the game in specific manners like getting different endings (for example to not spoiler anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity to experience this wonderful game) plus almost every play through is different from the last. TBOI is also really balanced in difficulty, getting harder the further you explore and it actually gets wanna be the boshy hard near the end, especially if you have a bad run and your found items are bullsh… . Biggest Pro though: who does not want to shoot tears (or something else ;3 ) at poop

! and your insane, murderous and obese mum? ?**

Castle of no Escape 2 is not afraid to make fun of its own retro aesthetic. It pulls off its stylistic approach to the point where even its unintended bugs look like a throwback to the classics it pays homage to. Not only that, but it does this all while still managing to put a fresh spin on old ideas in order to become something unique in its own right.

This game is a short, polished retro roguelike gem that borrows effectively from style and design elements of Nintendo-era (and older) games but also adds its own distinctiveness and charm. The ability to ignore a lot of the combat if you want, the openness of the levels, and the entire game occurring on one screen (with no menus and very little text once you are playing) are probably the rarest qualities of this game when compared to others of this genre. I was also impressed by the number of monster types that had unique game mechanics associated with them. The combat atmosphere was reminiscent of an old TSR game or the ancient battlechess game Archon. I can’t remember the last time I encountered a sprite-based centaur.

Never Split the Party

Never Split the Party

NSTP (Never Split The Party) is a pretty dope multiplayer top down bullet hell rogue-like dungeon crawler in the vein of Binding Of Isaac and The Legend of Zelda: ALTTP.

The game really shines on its replayability, as the challenge and fun of NSTP stem from its inherent difficulty as well as the chaotic nature of its combat.

What makes or breaks a multiplayer run is coordination and solid teamwork. Since multiplayer is the heart of the game’s focus, the single player is less polished, with enemies not scaling and whether you succeed or fail more reliant on RNG and luck than actual skill.

Never Split The Party is a free 4-player co-op game that plays similar to Binding of Isaac. If you have played Binding of Isaac you will probably like this game, and if you haven’t then give it a chance; it is free afterall.

Floors are made up of randomly generated rooms that include regular rooms, treasure rooms, market rooms, hidden rooms, and boss rooms. Regular rooms can contain monsters, traps, loot, and even bosses if you are on the 5th floor. Treasure rooms contain 4 gold chest with an item for each player and sometimes a coin or 2 on the sides. The market room is a nice little place to spend your collected gold on a random assortment of items. Hidden rooms can vary by design and can be pretty fun to see the first time; a good first time example is the Pac-Man hidden room. Then you have boss rooms, which simply hold the boss of the floor whom gives treasure room style loot on death and the entrance to the next floor.

Pros:

-Large variety of weapons to play around with

-3D interface is intuitive and adds to the overall experience

-The soundtrack is killer!

-Fast paced gameplay that keeps you on edge

Cons:

-Learning curve is high

I started playing this game not really knowing what to expect other than a retro shooter, but man is it more engrossing than that. The sensitivity of the controls can be extremely high at the start of the game but you can always customize it to your liking, including the way the camera is handled. At first I couldn’t handle the speed of my ship and kept slamming into the asteroids in the area, but after a few adjustments I got the hang of it a little better. One thing I really like is that your bullets will continue revolving around the inside of the sphere until it hits a target which can be good or bad depending on what they hit. I had leveled up my spread gun to the max and my bullets were ricocheting all over the place, blowing apart the asteroids and sending waves upon waves of debris at me that I had to maneuver around to avoid. At the same time, the power ups I was chasing (yes, power ups have their own trajectory!) were getting blown away by the very same bullets I was using to destroy the asteroids! This creates a hectic environment where you not only have to dodge every bit of space rock in your way, but also have to keep in mind not to shoot the very things that can help you survive the chaos. sphereFACE is an absolute blast, you’d be crazy to not give it a try!

Lose yourself in the greatest cyberspace-like experience since Rez.

The game is not without issue—the main one is, sometimes the game hangs, almost always when you die by flying into an asteroid at high velocities. Because of the way the game is made, this hang causes the game to stop rendering while it resolves crazy collision stuff or whatever. This is pretty much always when you die, so it’s not a HUGE issue, but it would be great if this could be fixed. Plus, the game is written from scratch in a custom engine, so it’s hard to hate it.

Stones of Sorrow

Stones of Sorrow

Read the store page, view the video, and you will have a good grip on the premise of this game. Now check the controls and go get those stones. You will need one for each hand to smash your blood brother’s head in properly.

Wow what a great Developer. All of my pin points below have been addressed and are no longer issues as of this past update(1.1.2) and it has been Less than a week. The movement even feels more fluid. I ran into a couple random issues… but I have screenshot them with descriptions. I’m curious to see how much gametime it will take to max out my perks :)

This game will blow your mind! Like, where else can you play a game so innovative like that? Cave paintings killing each other, a cool variety of items and, in the middle, a story well arranged and nicely told? Holy crap! You’ll say “why didn’t I play this gem before?” (ps: you’ll die a lot, but that won’t keep your hands off the controller. You’ll beg for more or, should I say, beg for gore?)

I’ve already “finished” Stones of Sorrow 4 or 5 times and now I’m in for the achievements, mainly ‘cause this state of the art item of human badassery -both the pre-historic cave art/21st game development- totally deserves it.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

I would have never thought after all my years of living that I would love a game as much as I love this one.

I gave Flash Isaac a try after getting my ass kicked in Enter The Gungeon because of the similar styles and it was also collecting dust in my steam library. It was all down hill from there.

It’s definitely a game you’re going to have to put some time and dedication in and through all the blood, sweat, and tears you’ll find that this game is just a gem.

Endless gameplay, awesome community, mods, and so much more.

Father of all roguelikes.

Part 1: Introduction.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is one of the best roguelikes ever in the industry (Thanks to Edmund McMillen). In the game you will see many unique bosses, items, characters, procedurally generating locations and much more that you will find yourself during the passage.

Part 2: Difference from other games of a similar genre.

Unlike other roguelikes, this project has a deep history of its creation. Most of all I remember that in the game each passage is like a new one and this causes excitement in you, because you think: “What will happen next?
