Deported 2: Build That Wall

Deported 2: Build That Wall

Agent Grump is back, and ready to fight the endless battle against those forces trying to flood earth with illegal space aliens. This time, Agent Grump’s nemesis has grown even stronger, and it is up to you to help him carry out his mission to BUILD THAT WALL, and Make Earth Great Again. Like it’s predecessor, it is packed with contemporary political satire, it’s easy to learn and fun to play. Not for the easily butthurt.

I’ve been wracking my brain for about 2 weeks tring to figure out how to review the game without simply saying “it’s more of the same” (that’s lazy), however that does seem to be the fact of the matter. Level progression (enemy types are the same; speed goblins at level 2, the seekers, the diehards, etc) are about the same as the first one but the map layouts are different. So rest assured that you’re not playing the same game twice. Still a short game that can be completed in under an hour. I still find the comedy still enjoyable, with the game’s story continuing the narrative of political satire that surrounds Ronald J Grump and Killary and the hilarity that ensued from 2016.

This is indeed a pretty fun game when it comes down to its core gameplay. I’m not sure about the price tag associated with this but will gladly gives this an enthusiastic thumbs up if can pick this game up for 10 bucks or less.

The best thing about this game is that it’s very east to pick up and play. There really isn’t much to it other than running around and picking up citizens along the way to add to your mob and wreck every thing and every one that stands in your way.

It isn’t all about just running around though. There are times in which you have to defend against certain types of attacks an enemy makes and when to rally the mob together to avoid a trap or hazard.

Time to dispense some mob justice on Zeus & his pals as we get to lace up our sandals and head out on an Odyssey worth writing Homer about in - Okhlos.

Probably best described as a mob-handed, roguelite brawler you lead a group of disgruntled Greeks across the ancient world to the gates of Mount Olympus. Your goal - to destroy all the gods. But rather than taking the old Kratos, God of War approach you don’t actually get you hands dirty. Instead you get your horde of fighters, slaves and citizens to do all the head bashing for you. Sending them chasing after your target reticle in something akin to a twin-stick rampage of destruction.

5/10

I really want to highly recommend this game but the reasons I’m about to go into, I can’t. I would, however, say get this game if you like a short but pretty ok dungeoncrawler one shot.

TL:DR

Pros:

  • Dungeoncrawling aspect done well

  • Beautiful art, beautiful characters

  • Diverse cast

  • Interesting characters

Cons:

  • Shallow glimpses into the characters and finishes right as you start to care

  • No replay motivation (save for wanting to see dialogue)

  • Only 1 female dating option

Verona Beach – a chill place to spend the summer. Especially in a rent-free apartment previously occupied by your cousin. Kind of him to offer you the space, even if he’s one of the most obnoxious and interfering people you’ll ever meet. But hey, families – can’t pick ‘em.

But you can pick lovers, and that’s part of the reason you’re here. See, you’ve never had a date. Not even once. Your cousin, under some duress from your mother, has been assigned your wingman, but it won’t be long before you’re able to make connections at your own pace.

Super Amazing Wagon Adventure

Super Amazing Wagon Adventure

It was a dangerous journey, they knew that. But HornyFishMan, NuggleSnugg, and HurgaDerga had to do it. It was time they traveled to the West Coast in their trusty station wagon. Leading the group, HornyFishMan picks up his uzi. They hunt. Bandits attack. Some could even aim. They reach a river. They ford it. Boulders… so many boulders… and then the pirate ship attacked. Luckily, there was a rocket launcher in the river. A few quick shots, and it’s down. Suck it, Blackbeard.

The group enters the Great Plains. Buffalo buffalo buffalo. The number of buffalo was absurd. HurgaDerga is impaled by a buffalo, and I swear he will be missed. NuggleSnugg and HornyFishMan go on. Horny is healed by health kits that was bought, along with a flame thrower, with the buffalo hide. Remember, the ones that killed HurgaDerga? Revenge is sweet. They see a woman in a red dress. HornyFishMan stops to see if she needs help. It wasn’t a trap, and she needs no help. She thanks Horny and sends him away. A civil war battle is underway nearby. The group says hello. There were no survivors.

They then take their adventure underwater where they’re attacked by pirrahnas and jellyfish. Ben dies. R.I.P. Natalie makes it onto an island where she collects eggs for an omlette. Pterodactyl eggs. It’s difficult for me to write an unbiased review, any games from Crankage Games are worth it just for the dialogues alone. Heck I’d play this just to read the cutscenes' lines. If you’ve played anything from Crankage Games before, you know what to expect. If you haven’t, what are you waiting for? They’re fun and they’re cheap.

This one is an arcade, old school gameplay. If you like a fun game without pretensions, just something fast and fun to play, give Deported a shot.

Today on my way home from work i stopped into a petrol station and snagged myself a chocolate bar for £1.15. I ate it in the car in just under 4 minutes, i enjoyed it. It probably did not do me any good but in the long term it wont have done me any harm.

When i got home i snagged a copy of Deported: Drain the swamp for 79p, i finished it in about half an hour. much better value than chocolate, and it was funny so it might of helped shed the choclate from my belly due to the light exercise of laughing.

What is a psychaedelic rogue-like bullet hell space shooter? I still don’t really know. But for me playing this game was the best mind-sanitizer I could find on my first day of self-isolation.

I couldn’t deal with the pandemic happening in the real world. Playing this game let me regress into a childish fantasy-land with retro feels and cool music, where the rules were very simple: “dodge bullets and shoot things”. Flatten the curve? No screw that, just flatten everything before your screen fills up with wiggly snakes, eye-balls, and celestial squids. Like a virus in a supermarket filled with bogans who don’t wash their hands, they’ll just keep multiplying until you can’t go anywhere. Power-ups come with sagely wisdom spoken by a robotic voice. And he speaks the truth! Carrots ARE good for you. Coffee DOES make you faster. And when you collect enough of those precious power-ups, your bullets really will “attack more better”.

I purchased this game right when it first came out and tried enjoyed it immensely. I feel the need for people to understand certain things when writing a review that talks about the game being too grindy

Background:

This is a pre-beta review. I have not played the game since May 2019. The game length is about 5 hours long on a moderate rng playthrough. You can solo this game with limited chips so there is no real need to grind unless you are a completionist. The game is challenging and i recommend playing with all characters to get an idea who you play best with because each have their strong suits.

VERY FUN!

The art style is adorable, the gameplay is tight and fun ~

This is a roguelite through and through :3

you start off with two characters ( with their own stats, starter weps and special dodge moves ) And you can unlock more under certain conditions.

You also have a monumental skill tree that you can unlock with cassette tapes you find in runs, there’s also another tree that starts you off with things, such as more health, more gold, more skill points.

You go through randomized dungeons, killing enemies ( which restore your skill meter ) various types of weapons, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses ( every weapon has it’s own unique special skill ( mapped to Y on an XBOXONE controller )

Death Road to Canada

Death Road to Canada

I discovered this game from a silly streamer playing it. It looked very goofy and also a lot of fun so I thought I give it a try also. Well I have to say I am rather shocked how many hours I ended up putting into it, it is honestly one of my all time favorite games. So here is a review from someone who has some “modest” amount of experience in the game.

Your goal is to reach this magical place of legend called Canada that for whatever reason is still safe in the zombie apocalypse. So it is up to your EXTREMELY COMPETENT AND TRUSTWORTHY characters to survive.

Real player with 200.3 hrs in game

I’ve been having a lot of fun with this game, and I’ve been having trouble putting it down. Death Road To Canada is basically Oregon Trail in a zombie apocalypse with a quirky sense of humor that you can easily sink hours into playing. While RNG plays a big role in the game, your skill can turn a bad run around and make a good run last all the way to Canada.

Pros:

+The gameplay is well executed, and there’s loads of variety. While the game is somewhat difficult, you’re given many tips and pointers when progressing to help you improve your strategy and create characters that will get you to Canada. If you’re looking for a challenge, there’s multiple hard modes that push you to the limit, such as having the trip take twice as long or even having double the zombies throughout the entire journey.

! I will beat KEPA mode someday. When fighting zombies, the outcome is reliant on your skill and what you can do with the materials at hand - sure, the game’s much easier if you have an automatic weapon and a lot of ammo, but you have to use it wisely as not only is it quick to use up your stock but also you’re limited on how much you can carry for each gun. Being able to create yourself, family, friends, and characters from different forms of media makes the game a lot more enjoyable and leads to lots of different outcomes and situations.
