Current state needs a bit of work and more content, but other than usual ironing out because of Early Access, the game is definitely fun! It’s a blast when you get item synergies, and the new level up system is really great for constructing a play-style build.

There are currently three weapons: The Katana, Sword/Shield, and Greatsword. Each play differently mainly in attack moves, range, and speed, and each has different variants (though most variants are shared such as “Katana of Power” and “Greatsword of Power”). I am not sure if each weapon has different Attack power for the shared variants though AKA Greatsword does 50 damage while Sword/Shield does 25. I believe there are two more weapon types planned, though me being a Greedy-Gus would like a few more.

I don’t usually write reviews and I wasn’t going to write one for this game, until it left early access.

Circumstances, however, have changed and the game has had to leave early access before the development team was ready to do so, which is why the game is considered incomplete and abandoned.

I’ve been playing the game since its closed beta test and thus I am in a position to directly compare the two versions to give you a clearer picture of what has been achieved and what has not.

When the game had its beta test, it consisted of only two areas and two characters. The starting area and the library, along

RemiLore: Lost Girl in the Lands of Lore

RemiLore: Lost Girl in the Lands of Lore

To start off, the game has been ported pretty well and handles very nicely on PC. The initial loading time is a bit long, but I do have a PC that classifies as old by now, so it could be that as well.

The gameplay is smooth and simple in the correct way. Hit your opponents while doing your best not to get hit. Dash-canceling attacks to avoid getting hit comes in handy especially when wielding heavier and bigger weapons, but those still need some more practice than the fast-hitting ones.

The vibrant and colourful visuals are pleasant and relaxing, providing a nice contrast to the fast-paced action. The rooms can at times get cluttered and sometimes it’s a little difficult to follow what’s happening on the screen, but it’s more an exception than a rule.

Operation F.A.T.E.

Operation F.A.T.E.

It’s 2123 and robots have invaded the Earth. Humanity has been forced to evacuate the planet in search of a new home out in space. An organization called Invasion Force (I.F.) has assembled to investigate the cause and find any means of reclaiming the planet.

Enter Ark, a young member of I.F. who’s been tasked with fighting off the robots/automata on Earth, as well as reconnaissance duties. But his recurring eerie dreams as of late speak a mystery he is determined to pursue no matter what in hopes of finding answers to his long lost past…

This game (will/already) feature(s):

  • Bullet hell elements, toned down (made easier) for the general public + a unique bullet hell concept to make the game a little more interesting.

  • Random generation (RNG). Tons of it. For this game, it means:

  • A hidden, randomly generated mystery (yes, randomly generated).

  • An infinite number of bosses. Certain enemies (including bosses) are randomly generated, meaning they may have different weapon attachments, phases, and even behaviors.

  • Levels are randomly generated, as is the world map (which of course extends to different types of enemies, items, etc.)

Randomly generated dialogue options for the player to choose from.

  • A chat feature with infinite dialogue possibilities where the player can talk to the characters. This has been implemented at a basic form, but is not included in Early Access.

  • An immersive plot

  • 3+ lovable characters (with depth of personality).

** If you are prone to epileptic seizures or anything of the sort when playing games with flashing lights/screens, I would advise you not to play this game.

** There are some horror elements, but they are “polite” (no instant jumpscares with loud noises).

Winged Sakura: Endless Dream

Winged Sakura: Endless Dream

Winged Sakura: Endless Dream is a quite interesting mix of roguelite exploration and tower defense. It can be quite fun and addicting if you are a fan of roguelite games, but there are a few key things you should consider before buying it.

Your goal is to get through the Endless Dream by escorting your partner Mimi to the end of each of 10 levels. You do this by opening doors in a randomly-generated dungeon layout, building towers as needed to help you defeat the onslaught of enemies with every door you open, contracting Sakuras (which provide passive bonuses to your character) for that run, as well as new towers and boosters with Polygons, the game’s currency. Between your runs and through story scenes you earn Unsealing Petals which are used to buy new Sakuras to appear in future runs, which can be leveled up. The map layout, and by extention the exit, is hidden until you start unlocking doors, so for each floor you start off blind. Once you’re ready to escape the floor, you need to guide Mimi and not allow her or yourself to be defeated by the enemies. Hopefully you used those Pink Polygons to clear a safe path for her, as those are limited, so you must plan ahead as you go through each floor.

I have played 8 hours and it felt like 2 hours.

The game is really addictive and fun. It feels simple at first, but in fact its REALLY deep. Its like chess, its very easy to learn how to play but its difficult to master. Also there is a luck factor involved, so you got to adjust to the situation even though it may not fit your playing style.

All in this game feels just about right, natural. I believe that I live in this world. Again its like on a chess board. There is nothing to add and nothing to take away. Those are just my feelings to describe how i like the game.

I have a love hate relationship for this game.

I don’t think it is great for beginners. Its just very difficult. I’ve died more then 200 times and I still haven’t won the game. I am stuck at the final boss.

My breaking point was when I was fighting the final boss the first time. I was doing so well. I couldn’t find the portal that would end the game, i searched the whole map and killed all the minions. I was breaking through the walls hoping for maybe a missing room. NO PORTAL

Most of the glitches i encounter are in the bosses. Tons of times the portal doesn’t show up after you defeat them and their minions, so you have to teleport back to base and grind again to fight that boss.

Mega cute art style with fun, solid gameplay hooks make this a pretty lovely doujin game. Though I wish there was an R18 patch to bring back the ero content. The english is a little wonky at some places, but it shouldn’t hold you back from having a fun, crawling time.

GALAK-Z

GALAK-Z

★★★★☆

A great, fast-paced space shooter, that feels dynamic and fresh even after 20+ hours. At first, the difficulty might scare you away, but with practise comes pay-off. It becomes challenging, but never too easy (except for the first quarter of the game). The loot system, which also seems harsh, seems to be just right, though I feel like some items should have been more expensive compared to other items. The content of loot you will find in missions are random, as well as the the provisions of the trader after each mission. This, with the randomized level lay-out and combinations of units and the challenge they offer, is what this game makes so amazingly replayable. Ofcourse, you can get (un)lucky in some situations, making it feel like it’s unforgiving at times. To me, that is a great premise of a game in the traditional sense as it is a call back to the arcade days of the 90’s.

Galak-Z is a thinking man’s game. And a thinking man who’s willing to invest time in his or her skills to fly in space.

Game is beautifully made:

1. Graphics are really well made, and the art style is retro but modern at the same time. Ship and character designs are nice homage to other space operas/shows.

2. Sound is well made too. Explosions feel real, thruster sounds feel gripping, especially when you engage your best, and voice acting is top notch. I enjoy the music because it really adds the suspense when I’m sneaking around asteroid belts avoiding enemy patrols.
