This game looks awful but don’t let your eyes deceive you. It is a masterpiece. its so hard to describe but If I tried to describe it to you as short as possible it would be unrestricted, cheesy, fun, unbalanced, chaotic, an unpolished gem. if you are looking to play a challenging fun game with friends and have a bunch of laughs along the way then this is the game for you.

Get ready to defend the earth and to level an entire city to do so. And remember its not about the destination its about the ants you blew up along the way.

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide

I earned myself a Vermintide steam key after winning a review contest for a local gaming community with my written work on the classic grand strategy of Rome: Total War. I played Vermintide for the first time in the winter break of 2017, thinking that it will offer a few hours of good fun with friends over the holidays.

This game changed my life. To say that the developers at Fatshark have poured their souls into this title would be an understatement. For me it rightfully has a place in the hall of timeless gems such as Quake, Thief: The Dark Project or SOMA. It has not only provided me with great value for my time and a sense of accomplishment as I learned its various facets and overcome all of its challenges, but at a human level it has allowed me to connect with people who have become some of my best friends. For this alone I could offer nothing but praise to this game.

WHAT THIS GAME IS:

Left 4 Warhammer.

A hectic fast paced hack and slash action game intended to be played co-op with friends. You play one of five characters each with slightly different play styles and each with a variety of possible weapon choices unique to them. You play through missions with simple objectives and recurring crescendo events against a horde of rat men, finding supplies on the way. You get a random piece of loot after each mission. Weapons can be upgraded/broken down/crafted with the Shrine and Anvil in the inn lobby.

Short story: BUY THIS GAME!

Longer story:

The game is still in early access at review point, but I wouldn’t have guessed it if I didn’t know it in advance. What I’m saying is that it’s very well made. Not to forget that it’s a small group of developers making such a great game! The game is ideal as a multiplayer game, as there is 4vs1 (chasers vs entity). So if you are like me and love multiplayer games and keep looking for them - this is definitely a game you should give a try.

It does take some time to navigate around and figure out where you’re going and what you are suppose to do, but after a few rounds you should start getting a hang of it and see some possible tactics to use. The first time you open the game you also get a “how to play” telling you about the different abilities as chaser and entity. I suggest reading these, as they’re a huge help in the beginning. I can’t wait to see how the game expands, as it have so much potential both with customising, extra maps and new tasks.

I’m a big fan of Phasmo and have an interest in most co-op horror games (I watched several of them instead of playing tbh) and I have to say I was impressed by Haunt Chaser.

So what is Haunt Chaser?

There is an entity, a player with special powers.

There are puzzles on the map that the 4-person player team needs to solve and get pieces of a doll.

Once they solve 4, they need to burn the doll.

They do the whole thing one more time and the heart of the entity is revealed and the entity can be killed.

Not a bad game but with a big discount. And it’s pretty short.

The game has problems.

If the creators fixed it, it would be quite an interesting game.

This game has issues.

Although in theory it has controller support, in my case it only works with one controller, meaning the second player must play with keyboard and mouse. Not ideal in the intended scenario of couch gaming with my wife.

Sometimes when controller is selected as input method, it still requires actions to be performed with mouse.

There are issues with button remapping; the function seems to be there, but doesn’t work.

The tutorial is infuriatingly slow, with long delays between dialogue lines, actions and transitions. It also doesn’t tell you how to play with controller; even with controller selected, the tips and objectives are all given for keyboard controls.

I really love this game I can’t wait for the next chapters.

Real player with 8.1 hrs in game

Whisper Trip is a fast-paced, strategic hack and slash, side scrolling, platformer game with a difficulty spike that comes on too strong in the beginning levels of the game. One thing that should be noted, this game is rough to play on mouse and keyboard. I enjoy the general concept and where the difficulty is trending but combined with wonky controls and physics it makes it a very frustrating experience.

It’s difficult for me to give this a thumbs down, I genuinely enjoyed it and found moments of fun and engaging gameplay and because for some people this may be their cup of tea or might be much more adept out of the gate. I found myself getting stuck on walls or spinning endlessly on top of enemies on a corner and other buggy elements that added to the already frustrating element of gameplay where you can expect to die a lot. Sometimes enemies will randomly fire very fast or not when they have other times. There is also no save menu, so if you start a new game accidentally you will lose all your progress, not ideal if multiple people are playing on the same machine.

Beautiful lady in the woods. Thats it.

The rest is an unoptimized simple wave shooter where you get points to buy new cosmetics for the lady.

No free movement only teleport to specific locations.

The most interesting of course is the bikini but for that you need 35K points for one level.

Since you cant choose difficulty until you completed 3 areas on easy which will reward you around 500ish points that means you have to complete all 3 areas 3 times just for that simply unlock.

Dead Space™ 3

Dead Space™ 3

Dead Space 3 was a fun disappointment. Fun as in action. Disappointment as in lack of horror. It tries hard to be both, but can’t be a jack of all trades. As a huge fan of Dead Space 1 and 2, this game isn’t quite as good in single-player compared to its predecessors.

Nevertheless, Dead Space 3 is still a decent installment to the franchise. The cool thing about Dead Space 3 is that you can play co-op with a friend, where you and your partner can create a bunch of fun weapons.

As of now, the game is not worth the full price. If you are thinking of buying, buy just the game and The Awakened DLC at a discounted price. Don’t feed EA, other DLC’s are not needed to enjoy the game.

Like everythingn EA and Origin it launches on the first go around then when you want to play the game again. It opens Origin even when its already open and with you logged in and doesnt launch the game nor does it give you a reason to why it doesnt open. Most likely because it keeps logging you out of Origin in the process of loading but EA being braindead dont really know or care to fix old games but only to take your money and to leave you to dry. Even googling the problem doesnt seem to work because everyone that does that repeats the same shit basics of how other games tend to run or they just try to be the first ones and dont read the issues and give you a fix for a totally different issue. When someone says the game wont fucking launch that means theirs no black screen it just doesnt want to launch. And it sucks leaving a negative feedback on this game because it is fun. But what isnt fun is trying to fix EA and Origin Bs or interacting with their god awful customer support.

HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed

HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed

Hypercharge kinda appeared from no where. I saw the reddit post that blew up in December, I looked up the game and it seemed neat. I didn’t buy it. Covid had left me a tad stripped of extra gaming money.

I got some Steam money for Christmas. My friends still play Titanfall 2 for it’s wave defense mode, and I’ve been unable to play much with them. Our games list don’t share as many titles as they used to. Used Christmas money on Titanfall 2. I played with them for two days, on that second day I brought up Hypercharge: Unboxed in conversation as a similar game that looked neat. Well, it seems they liked the toy idea as much as I did, because within an hour of finishing Titanfall 2 for the night, I find it suddenly gifted to me. They all got it, and felt bad I used the money on Titanfall 2, so bought it for me.

Awesome Co-op game for adults and kids.

I’d been watching this game on Steam for some time because I’m big fan of toy games like the original Army Men and the Toy Soldiers games and this looked right up my alley. I think it’s the nostalgia thing that gets me, the fond memories of playing with toys as a kid and setting up big elaborate battle scenes. For some reason I never got around to buying it though, then one day my 10-year-old son saw it on the Nintendo Switch eShop and really liked the look of it and kept asking me to buy it. I thought it would be better on PC, so I stalled him. Fast forward to the 2020 Steam Winter/Summer sale and I noticed it was in sale and showed my son who so excited about it that he used his leftover birthday money to buy it. I’m so glad he did, as we have been having a blast playing it ever since and even my 8 year-old-son has now joined in for 3 player split-screen action. I literally have to stop them from playing as the 3 of us would happily sit there and play it all day if we could, we’re totally obsessed, curse you responsible parenting! I’m using my keyboard and the boys are both using controllers (Xbox One and Xbox 360) and the controls work perfectly.
