Hypersonic Speed Girl / 超速少女
This is a horizontally scrolling danmaku game, with a very unique mechanic of “Hyperspeed”, that allows you to go super fast in stages but at the cost of being way more vulnerable to dying to the obstacles while trying to achieve it. However, if you do achieve this Hyperspeed, you can skip a large portion of the stage, and also get a lot of points. Being able to route the stages to master this technique is very satisfying to do.
When it comes to the bosses, they play like the usual Touhou danmaku boss, with non-spell and spellcards. The danmaku of these bosses is relatively hard, but thankfully the game gives you a lot of resources so you don’t die immediately.

Touhou Fan-made Virtual Autography
The earlygame / free demo didn’t really have me sold on this game, but later on it gets REALLY good. It takes a moment, but it seriously grows on you. Would highly recommend, probably my favorite shmup overall currently.

Yes, the gimmick is stupidly unbalanced.
Yes, it would be nice to have a scoring system.
But I still like this game. It has good patterns, and good soundtrack. The two things most important to a Touhou game. It also has some slight details which I appreciate, most notably limited progression on the boss music during dialogue in stage 4 and 5, as well as
! the midboss segment of the stage 5 theme having different instruments depending on the character you’re fighting.
Oh, and if you’re playing the demo, the diagonal movement thing is fixed in the full version, in case you were worried about that.

Another great fan made game in Touhou universe. The heroine is Tenshi, gameplay is great, challenge is there and music is great as well.
Gameplay: It plays like standart platforming + beat-em-up + shooter mix, but with a few gimmicks. Most intresting of them is Tenshis ability to change weather; might be tricky to understand it at first but game kinda forces you to learn and utilise this technique, it’s not really that complicated and actually a lot of fun. Aside from that nothing really difficult or complicated. Simple yet challenging fun, just like we love it in Touhou games.

Gensokyo Defenders
Basically Touhou version of Dungeon Defenders, except you play as majority your favourite characters as you progressed through the story. Each character possesses unique uses and abilities. For example: Aya is mostly used for levels that has lots of water, Okuu for crowd control, etc. However, some characters also have cons applied to them. For example Okuu’s attack is strong, but in exchange it will damage your traps forcing you to take big risks. Another example is Mokou’s, Mokou can buff her attacks and heal herself, but in exchange for either her own health, or your bases health therefore forcing you to only use her skills for emergencies only. Voice acting is great with translations. Music is beautiful as always like any other Touhou games, fan made or not. If you are the type of person that likes both Touhou and tower defense games, then this game is for you.

Gensokyo Defenders is a fun tower defense-esque game.
Gameplay is smooth, controls feel natural and are easy to learn. The game also has surprisingly high amount of content and re-playability. As is fitting for a Touhou fan game, the soundtrack is awesome. Some rearranges of classic Touhou songs are really good! The sounds are otherwise good too. The story is fun.
The co-op mode brings a whole extra-layer of fun to the game and enables many cool new tactics.
A truly well done Touhou doujin game!

Kubinashi Recollection
Kubinashi Recollection Originally released on DLSITE as Neckless Collection Developed by ぱらどっと (Paradot) back in March 21, 2021. Finally released on Steam and Nintendo Switch with an English translation.
You play as Sekibanki as you quite literally use your heads to solve puzzles and platform through 10 worlds of puzzles. Simple at first but eventually the puzzles will get extremely tricky. There are 2 modes included, 1 of which is normal mode where the game gives you a limit of how many heads you can use per stage or a Nine head mode where you get Nine heads to use each stage (Easy mode).

Tried it for about an hour. The ranking system is way too strict considering going straight to the goal without stopping was barely a B rank clear time. Maybe there’s upgrades you get or advanced tech you learn about later on, but honestly I don’t have the time or patience for a game that’s gonna require that level of perfection.
The rest of the game that I saw was decent, but that’s all. Just decent. Nothing to really write home about, and imo isn’t worth the cost of admission.

MarisaLand Legacy
An amazing and fun Touhou themed tribute to the original Super Mario Bros.
Gameplay and levels are fun and enjoyable. Controls and mechanics are nice and simple. The Hard Stages are a little unforgiving, but they’re meant to be hard, so I can’t really complain about that.
Would love to have another sequel!

This game is seriously awesome! It’s similar to SMB1, but with some element differences. The main one being that Marisa gradually grows. Rather than just having a big and small form, Marisa grows another head tall depending on how many mushrooms she has. At four heads, she gets a projectile move, and at 8 heads, she is temporarily large enough to charge through everything, similar to the mega mushroom from the Mario series.
I really love the art style of this game. The pixel art is extremely vibrant, cute, and detailed. The music is fun, upbeat, and matches the mood of every level! This sort of variety in game styles is really why I started to like Touhou. Marisaland Legacy is a fun, unique, and cute take on an age-old classic like SMB1. I would recommend it to anyone!

Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity
This review might be biased based on my likings on anything Touhou related alone but here we go.
I’ve always had a liking for Touhou, every fanmade game deserves a try, but this one is special.
Touhou Koukishin ~ Adventures of Scarlet Curiosity serves up as a great example of a game completed by cult-like zealot - its own community. Its cover illustration came from Matsukichi , the guy who used to draw about 300 portraits of Momiji Inubashiri. The song made by Hachimitsu-Lemon, a doujin music circle I yearn for its great use of various orchestral instruments since Silver Scenery album released in 2014 (though they sometimes produce EDM/Rock genre). It’s shivering how the personalities I’ve been a fan of for years work together to make great content of a game.

When I see a new Touhou game, I buy instantly.
I literally refresh my page every minute just to buy it.
As a fan of the Touhou Project,
I have been waiting for this game to be released on the computer ever since I found out it can
only be played on the PS4. In this game, you play as either the vampire; Remilia Scarlet, or her devoted
! and dedicated maid; Sakuya Izayoi. Each of them possesses unique battle skills. Remilia specializes in melee combat, Sakuya specializes in ranged. There is also occasions to play as Remilia’s sister; Flandre Scarlet on flashback sequences. During the course of the game, you will be able to find equipments and accessories that would be able to boost Remi and Sakuya’s stats either by attack, defense, etc. Both Remilia and Sakuya each have their unique storylines depending on who the player picked to play as. As mentioned earlier, there is an option to play flashback sequences as Flandre. The gameplay combined with smooth frame rates makes it easier to dodge and play smoothly, however, there is an option to choose the settings before you start. There are some returning bosses players might find familiar with. Each of them has attack patterns players would need to memorize if they want to defeat them. Overall, the art combined with the interesting storylines are beautiful mixed with a relaxing soundtrack. This game can be hard even if you play on easy if you are a beginner. But you will soon get the hang of it if you practice.

東方逆妙乱 ~ Ephemeral Unnatural Balance
Positives:
-
Very cute art (shaded pastel style)
-
Decent enough music
-
Interesting system
that being said, I feel like the balancing is kind of wack. The Discord system is great when you’re in a difficulty you have completely mastered, but if you dare to reach a bit above your comfort zone, it’s an absolute beatdown. Especially late in the game, you have almost no opportunity to activate Discord since it’ll just immediately kill you, wiping out any progress you had on the meter (if this were changed, I’d like it a lot more). I also didn’t feel the need for an overdramatic resurrection butterfly ripoff.

From what I’ve played so far I have pretty much nothing but praise for this game. Honestly it’s better than most of the main Touhou games. It avoids every typical fangame gripe I can think of: stage design is good, systems are good, visual clarity is good. Most importantly it’s determined to be a Touhou fan GAME rather than a Touhou FAN game, and most of its fanservice is based around things recognizable and enjoyable from the games themselves instead of Alice xx Marisa UwU or whatever.
Many of the patterns and spellcards are remixed versions of ZUN’s ones, but the developers seem to have a good feel for how to keep the fun parts without the annoying ones. Nothing is flashy to the point of being nonfunctional and so far I haven’t encountered anything that felt like total bullshit. Lasers and attacks coming from weird directions all have warnings on them so you’re not caught blind. The stages feel like a big melting pot of the styles and identities of different games in the series plus some original stuff and it just works well.

Nyanco Dream
Nyanco Dream is cute and wholesome. Like buying a smile for less than 1$/EURO. It keeps you entertained for 20-30 minutes. Also has NewGame+ to entertain you further by limiting Nyanco’s shotrange and boosting boss HP. Who knows, maybe Nyanco can get another fan if you decide to cheer for her while she’s dreaming of being in the Touhou World.
Gameplay
If you run out of health points you will have a gameover. If you don’t get hit, health regenerates constantly, even during on-screen text. So if you are low on health just enjoy listening to the music for a while and then continue with almost all your health fully replenished.

I really liked this this game it was short but a lot of fun,the story was simple nothing fancy, the characters were cute and held a charm of there own,i think new game plus is were it’s at for me the shot patterns are much better and a lot more fun to play.
As for the cons the movement felt a little clunky making it hard to dodge some shots and the final fight would drop frames so hard on me that i could not even move (but the game never crashed on me),oh and the same button to fire shots skips the dialogue so at the end of a fight i skip a couple of frames.
